OT: Most Interesting Man in the World... No Longer (at least not OUR world)

Submitted by superstringer on

The Most Interesting Man in the World is retiring.  Well, sort of.  He's going to Mars, on a one-way trip.  Seriously.

Dos Equis is apparently only retiring the actor who's been playing TMIMITW.  There will be a new evolution of this ad campaign; maybe a new TMIMITW, maybe a TMIWITW, or maybe a bunch of them.

I have always loves this campaign.  "His Mom has a tattoo that reads, 'Son.'"  Etc.  What's your favorite factoid about him?  Or make ones up that OUGHT to be true about him?

I saw somewhere he is the #2 most favorite pitchman character, after the always-annoying but somewhat-hot Flo (Progressive), and after Flo's competitor Mayhem (State Farm).  Well, now he's your favorite retired pitchman character.

thread for it, but Syracuse just lost to Pitt.  First bit of possibly good bubble news in a while.

that case, I will also point out to you that Michigan is back into "First Four Out" on Bracket Matrix before the Syracuse loss (who is now 19-13 and will not make the tournament).  The master plan is coming together (Evil laugh).

it was a clever ad campaign, but I think it's ran it's course. I'm still sad KFC got rid of Darrell Hammond as Sanders :( . I'm sure the beer company will just do what every commercial does anymore, have some white person dancing stupidly like 90% of all other dumb unoriginal commercials

One of the little known facts about The Most Interesting Man In The World is that he once wore a red shirt on an epsiode of the original Star Trek and lasted the entire episode unhamred.

you would feel compelled to change it.

When the odds are 50/50, he has an 80% chance of success.

Presidents take his birthday off.

He is . . .

the Most Interesting Man in the World.

Stay thirsty, my friends.

Bohemia is good but it's a bit more of a heavy lager.  I personally like the lighter flavor of Pacifico, which has become sufficiently popular that a few restaurants (esp Mex or Tex-Mex) carry it now.

Now, I recall years ago taking a swig of Simpatico, and thinking:  it tastes like water.  Like, wet liquid, nothing else to be said for or against it.

1. Football needs to get here.

2. In Fort Worth (nicknamed Cowtown), Dos Equis had a great billboard with TMIMITW: In a town of many cowboys, he's a cowman.

When he drives a new car off the lot, its price increases in value.

He once made a Weeping Willow laugh.

He has won the lifetime achievement award, twice.

If opportunity knocks and he isn't home, opportunity waits.

Mosquitos refuse to bite him out of respect.

He has inside jokes with people he's never met.

He is the most interesting man in the world.

Dos Equis sales have nearly tripled (!!!)  since this ad campaign started in 2007.

That's pretty incredible.  As mGrowOld said --- when it's working like THAT, why the hell stop?!?!?!?  Not sure if the Brand or the Ad Agency is making that call, but whoever it is, it seems like a silly decision.
