OT--Millen deserves to lose yet another job

Submitted by ghostofhoke on
Throughout the game Millen described the actions and mistake of 18-22 yr old college kids as "pathetic", "embarrassing", "plain awful". I get that sometimes the quality of college football is not top notch but to use words like that to describe the effort and performance of amateur (allegedly) athletes in that manner is completely uncalled for and unprofessional in my opinion. It's hard enough to suffer through a game that he's calling but this kind of stuff should be embarrassing to BTN and should force them to take a hard look at whether he should be representing their brand. I don't know how to mount pressure on BTN but it should be done.

Millen gives me hope that there is some order in the universe. He clearly is just not a very bright guy and indeed his results as a decision-maker have been disastrous.

College player - Great

Pro player - Great

NFL commentator - very good, people forget that he was a legitimate rival of Dan Dierdorf and John Madden in popularity and clarity

NFL Gen Manager - Disaster. He was a poor judge of talent and drafted too much like a fantasy team owner. Recall we had at one point 4 #1 pick WRs.

Is he the worst color commentator in college ball? No, he is just in the middle of the pack.

His line about Kugler knowing how to make groceries disappear was kind of funny.

But yeah. He is not good. I seriously don't think he prepared at all. He seemed confused by our dime with one safety deep. He could have learned all about it by skimming the UFR.

I learned great game watching technique from my Dad:

Turn the sound on the TV off, and watch while listening to the radio broadcast.

When Speilman does the games, I listen to the TV. Otherwise, I tune out, especially when Major Matt Moron is calling the game.

Just glad I'll be in the stadium next week and not have to listen to his nonsense. Feel bad for all you guys that have to suffer through another game with him.

I also loved how he kept going on about how Maryland's many WR drops were the difference in the game.  Which, yeah.  It's the difference between us winning 28-6 vs 28-0, I guess.

Millen made a comment that we had "excellent" coaching. Harbaugh needs to find out exactly who he was talking about and FIRE him. He's clearly a flaw in the Harbaugh system.

but 18-22 year olds are grown individuals who can vote, go to war, drive, get married, have kids..and make stupid plays.

I don't think Millen's awfulness has anything to do with that.

How this guy landed a GM job in the NFL and lasted several years is just wild. Also hate his "bullets in the gun " cliche two days after Roseberg, Oregon. Where did he go to college? :) A rhetorical question.

How about when he compared John and Jim H. Said John was very detail oriented and Jim was big picture! Huh? Kugler, his partner, jumped on that right away and Millen changed his tune.

He also consistently fucks up his facts, which seems mandatory for BTN analysts. Correct me if I'm wrong, but he said during this game that Jake Butt had "8 catches last week". He also butchers the English language at times and/or stumbles over his words. He's just awful.

I have no idea how the guy holds a job.  I wrote his network his first back in the booth and told them to please keep him away from Michigan games. I got no reply from them.

If BTN listened to the critiques of its viewers, the network would look a lot different than it does.

Dierdorf had a similar call after a Maryland int. Called it 'completely amateur' which has a hint of irony given all the money around college ball. Basically, I think the pro guys forget they're not in the pros anymore at times.

he's always been a worthless loudmouth bully, annoying enough to make me mute the tv altogether or consider buying tickets to whatever game he's assigned to then again pretty much all of them are like that to me. I find it insulting to be treated like i need someone to describe what i can see right in front of me remarkable that someone can make millions just throwing out opinions that are so pathetic, embarrassing, and plain awful
