OT: Joe Dumars stepping down as Pistons GM
As the title says. He DID bring a ring to Detroit, right? Can't fault him for that.
Welcome to a week ago
I mean, yeah it was coming. But it's officially official now. Officially.
Two of my go-to D&D trivia questions:
1. What was the name of the lobby bar where Lloyd tried to meet Mary?
2. What was the name of the magazine he was buying when he lost his wallet?
What would Mary's name be if her and Lloyd got married?
Yup.
Mary Christmas
I know of a person with this name. My buddy at work had a job right across from her. Saw government id and everythung
1. Aspen Avalanche bar and grill.
2. Rhode Island Sluts
I heard a rumor Dumars is stepping down
a guy just posted it.
Glad he is staying in the organization. Probably could have come sooner, but it is what is it is. I don't think the roster is as big of a mess going forward as some think, but we will see.
By sooner, I assume you mean the day before he decided to trade Chauncey for Iverson and thus doomed the Pistons to going down the path of being a basement dweller in the league for the forseeable future.
Dumars reign was a tale of two cities. There was no middle ground. He went from being one the best and most respected front office guys in pro sports to all of the sudden being hands down one of the worst. We may have better players now then we had a few years ago, but they are not players who work well together. This current roster is complete mess and don't think it's going to be that easy to get it cleaned up.
That core group was not going to contend anymore. It needed to be rebuilt. I have a bigger problem with extending Hamilton and what he did with the cap space from the Iverson deal the next summer than the actual trade.
Changing up the past-their-prime core group was not a bad idea. His execution of the idea, on the other hand...
Trading Chauncey wasn't a bad move. It was what happened with the money afterwards which screwed the Pistons
for pointz?
I'm shocked. Next thing you know, Borges will be fired.
Borges was fired months ago, you idiot.
Officer! That's the scumbag who stole my Fritos!
I think Hoke has changed the tide on the rivalry. Hell people in Ohio are starting to believe him. Never in a million years I would have thought that. Selling Michigan jerseys is a good start.
I wish this was still true :(
REJOICE!
Last few years have been frustrating, but he brought a championship to Detroit in my life time
(Insert comment here about not drafting Trey Burke)
(Insert comment here about how Burke actually sucks and that KCP is really much, much better than it seems by quoting some obscure basketball stat that nobody's ever heard of or uses and that Dumars actually did the right thing by drafting him)
Is this a real thing that happens?
Maybe in mgrowold's mind it does
Are you kidding? Go to the original Dumars thread or any other on the Pistons and read the Last Hoke's comments.
I think he makes a compelling case. And I don't think he's ever said Burke sucks. Just that he's not as great as many on here seem to think

I've read pretty much all of those threads, and I don't think I've seen anybody say (especially LastHoke) "Burke sucks".
It's been, KCP has had his minutes yanked around, he's not as bad as people think he is, and Burke isn't as great as people think he is.

KCP has managed to get his shooting percentage even LOWER than Brandon Jennings career mark of 39% (though Jennings is even worse for the year at 37.4%). You have to give him credit for that, right?
Joe Whomars? Amirite? I need more friends...
I'm joining the fun...
WHAT? YOU DIDN'T SEARCH THIS BLOG!
Mine got deleted, so it officially never happened!
He signed Josh Smith, so he should be fired (I mean, step down)
- Of the 65 players that have attempted more 3s than Josh Smith, none shoots worse than 30%, Smith shoots 26%
- No player with at least 150 3PA has a worse percentage than Josh Smith
- Of qualifying players, only 20 have a worse True Shooting Percentage than Josh Smith
- Of the 20 players with a worse True Shooting Percentage than Josh Smith, none has as high of a usage rate as Smith
completely bummed! Who saw this coming?
I feel like when your family has an old pet dog that is sick and needs to be put down. You love and appreciate him for all the memories, but his time has come, and you know what needs to be done.
So you're saying Joe poops on the rug and drags his ass across the floor when he walks? Poor Joe......
He needs to be evacuated?

Yep, Joe's signing of Charlie Villanueva to a long and overpriced contract was the equivalent of your family dog pooping in your shoe.
Yeah, this is kind of old news.
Of course, to some around here this feels like it should have been news 4 years ago.

Joe Dumars is stepping down.
Too little, too late.
