OT- Job with Maker's Mark
This is a job posting from Maker's Mark and I thought I'd post the link on here. The economy is horrible right now and I know there are many unemployed people on this website so I wanted to pass the information along.

Sorry guys, I don't think there's any way I can rescind that double Maker's on the rocks they made for me at Knights Steakhouse last night.
There is no way I'd turn down an opportunity to work at all if I was unemployed, much less for a liquor company. Even if they poke fun at Wolverines, this potentially opens the door to all sorts of alcoholic beverage companies further down the line. Even then, I wouldn't care if they made fun of my favorite sports teams. I'd be working for a major distiller of alcohol. That'd be too awesome. It was a shame I moved from Houston as I could be working at Saint Arnold's Brewing Co. had I stayed. I still rue the day I moved!

Not OK to drink or purchase Maker's Mark.

A job is a job, man- no way I'd turn it down if offered and I were unemployed. But I ceased purchasing and/or drinking Maker's Mark once I saw that ad that went up in Columbus. Yes, that means I won't even drink it if it's free (because if it's free, that usually means other booze is free, too- wedding/charity event/house party, etc.) Principle, man. Knob Creek for me now. But it does suck, because I loved me some Maker's Mark. 'Twas so delicious. Sigh.
If you're concerned about supporting Makers Mark this may interest you: Knob Creek is distilled by Jim Beam (Fortune Brands), who bought Makers Mark about 5 years ago. The Kentucky bourbon industry is very incestuous [insert Ohio/Columbus/Boren joke here- I shouldn't because I live in Kentucky]. My advice- drink what you like and don't worry about an advertising decision made by executives who know nothing about making bourbon. Besides, there are much better bourbons that aren't made by Beam Global/Fortune Brands. Try Bulleit, Woodford Reserve, or Corner Creek Reserve if you want a good non-Beam product.
I'M a big fan of black maple hill recently.
I'll have to look for it. It's distilled a few miles from where I live, but surprisingly some of the small batches are hard to find even though they're made here.

Are we seriously so uptight and serious that we can't, from time to time, laugh at ourselves? If the same thing happened to Ohio State and that ad was plastered on the Bell Tower, would we all not chuckle?
Of course, I say that now. Talk to me again in November.

I make no apologies. As I've said, I've got a bottle in the closet (alcohol is banned in this apartment complex... prohibition at it's finest). I thought the ad was clever, too.

School owned facility. They can't open my mini-fridge without a warrant. I can't even buy beer within a 30 minute drive other than paying $6-7 minimum at a bar for just one. If I want a 6-pack, I have to leave the county.

Purchasing MM gives your money to the company, while working for them gives the company's money to you. I don't think there should be any MGoEthical problems with that.

Dude, you've tried that joke more then once today. What is it with you and SNL Celebrity Jeopardy references? Are you afraid no one saw your other post and decided to use the same tired joke again? I assume you are just shooting for points. Sitting there hoping someone comments on your comments in a positive manner, thus validating that they too have seen the forcefed clips of Darrell Hammond as Sean Connery from 15 years ago....enough.

I grew up on the North Side (Touhy & Western-Rogers Park myself). Go Blue Scott actually posted something from SNL in like kind a few days ago so I am simply paying tribute. Seeing how you are so closely following my posts I will try not to make any sudden stops on the board so as your head does not find itself half way up MY ASS! Woodford is relatively similar price to Makers, but a little better. Blanton's is a little pricier, but like smokey silk.
Woodford is very nice.
I have a bottle at home with my name engraved on it (gift from the in-laws). Once in awhile I like to say, "There's a bottle of bourbon at home with my name on it!"
Kentucky bourbon is a poor substitute for Tennessee whiskey.
Tennessee whiskey is a poor substitute for Scotch whiskey.

but if im going to drink a burbon in makers price range i prefer knob creek or four rose small batch. Woodford is by far my fav. for an everyday burbon. If anyone ever has the money or loves burbon as much as i do try old van winkle 23yr old.
I say Basil Hayden is right up there with Blantons. Pappy Van Winkle is good too, if you can afford it.

Chemical engineering on the brain, I guess. If you went by the number of senior design projects we had on beer/booze, you'd think 90% of chemical engineers work in distilleries.
