OT: If you could have Michigan play any team of your choosing in the National Championship game, which team would it be?

For me it would be USC. Watching Michigan vs USC in the Rose Bowl was always fun (except the losing part) and it would give us a chance for sweet redemption for losing all of those close games. As an unimportant bonus, our uniforms look good on a field together.

to his first game for that one. Horrible first game for a youngster that needs to see big plays and reasons to cheer and get excited. He hasn't asked to go back. Still watches the games with me on TV but has no interest in the Big House. I'm still working on him though.

Just because he (or she?) hasn't asked doesn't mean he wouldn't enjoy it. Get some cheap tickets for a probably blowout, arrange a tailgate or a good place to eat before the game, and have a great time.

My girls don't beg me to go to sporting events (of course they don't have to) but they love it every time we go.

Did you not read my post? I TRIED that already!

All snark aside, I have asked again and he politely declined. I may have to involve some of his buddies or something too. But to be honest, I usually go to one game a year that a salesman sets up with a big group and that's really enough trips to see live for me. I love the place but let's face it. It is a pain in the ass to drive 6 hours and sit in traffic for 2, all to watch a soup can get pounded for 3.

Part of doesn't necessarily want to face an Akron team that is good enough to get to a National Championship game, but then I realize that it will be roughly 2560 by the time that this happens and I will have been dead for nearly 500 years at this point and I wouldn't be in a position to fret about it.

Yeah.  If we're playing fantasy national championship game, I want to play some hot garbage low major team we can definitely trounce.  I won't give a shit in the long run about who we beat or having a classic game, I want the ring.

with you on osu.  damn, thatd be hyped to such insane levels...if it were possible for those 2 to meet in title game as top 4 units.  im sure much of the country also love to see it.

bama would be fun too.  beat the best to be the best...you know this staff and squad would relish the challenge.

but im not picky at this point, id obviously love to see them there regardless of opponent or circumstance

I'd say OSU but I would rather not see them have that much success. So I'll go with a Saban led Bama.

I'd like it to be Alabama, and for Michigan to win by a good but not overwhelming margin.  Both teams fully healthy, and a great level of play.

Be the best?  Beat the best.

OSU. Only OSU.

You beat them in a national title game, that immediately erases the last 15 years of misery. They may have won 13 of the last 15, but that would be a loss that they would never be able to live down. Ever. That would hurt them more than any loss they've given us. Hell, it would hurt them more than all the hurt they've given us over the last 15 years put together.

They're not used to losing as it is, so imagine losing to your biggest rival on the biggest stage, after you've done nothing but beat them for the last 15 years? That game would end around midnight. Columbus would burn to the ground by sunrise.

No risk, no reward.

I agree that the agony would suck, but we've been enduring agony from them for 15 years. Everything from blowouts to controversial losses to everything in between. I'd be more than willing to take a chance on meeting them in the title game and risk losing again. The prospect of avenging all of those losses, all in one night, and handing them the most agonizing loss in the entire history of their detestable program would be more than worth the risk.

I don't want anything positive to happen to that football program for the rest of time.  Having the nerve to honor Paterno last year disgusted me to my core.
