OT: Having nice things in 2014 (holiday shopping)
What is on your wish list for this holiday season? (Other than X being hired as coach) My wife bought the helmet and display case last christmas that had been on the top of my list forever. I now must reconsider options which were once unfathomable.
For the little ones, I just bought 2 pairs of crocs for $10 each (sale today only):

Living in Columbus I'm relegated to only finding decent UM items online..

I want the Bo Bobble Head, the large one 36" tall, I have a few small ones on my desk but that large one would be killer to have sitting in my office.

Oreo is the rip-off. Hydrox came first.
Although Oreo is clearly the superior product.

was the master of this when I was a kid. Not out of cheapness or anything, she just didn't understand the difference between the legit product and the knock off.
Asked for transformers, got go-bots.
They're the same thing Mad Hatter.
NO THEY'RE NOT MOM!!!!

And sadly, she does it with beer. She used to buy Stroh's and PBR when the hubby and I were first married, because she knew he like beer. Yes, he does like beer. That is not beer!!

I've been wanting to get my UM degrees framed since they've just been sitting in my basement in their mailing envelopes waiting for some basement flood to destroy them. However, I'm a bit reluctant to have them framed and hung since there seems to be a positive correlation between the obnoxiousness of a person and the prominence with which their degree(s) are displayed.

Get them out of the basement; they will mildew. Also, you've already answered your question. It's not the framing of them, it's where and how they're displayed. Hang them in a den or some place similar.

I think that it's been so long that it seems like a legality, such as in a common law marriage, but lets not confuse rules/regulations with traditions. This seems more like a tradition to me.

I want white undershirts. They seem to be the limiting item in my laundry rotation.
December 10th, 2014 at 9:25 AM ^
that putting a crisp white dress shirt over a yellowing white undershirt. Poor form.
OK, OK. There's lots of things worse - starvation, Schiano, Cowherd, Brandon, pesitlence.

Hanes v-necks, man. I have some "nicer" options, but nothing beats the comfort of a Hanes v-neck.

Is on Mgoblog??? Awesome!!

with the extra long feature. I have a slightly long torso and to be honest, nothing frustrates me more than a short t-shirt that doesn't stay tucked in. I order a couple packages from JCPenny every few years and rotate them out.

Last year I got an autographed Braylon and Marlin Jackson photo framed. A Burke auoto 8x10 too.
I also want this cool Ted Williams Moxie Soda metal sign!
I love anything vintage and UofM!

I bought Mrs. WalmartWolverine a MacBook Air. When Mrs. WW asked what I want -- I want an AyA #4/53 in a 20-bore -- I just said I hadn't been very good this year. We got a new house for Thanksgiving, so I can go light on Christmas.
December 10th, 2014 at 11:10 AM ^
You're aiming a little higher than the MacBook Air, I see...

I have to do a blue load of M gear twice a week and a load of yellow M gear twice a week. We have certainly brainwashed our kids!

my teenage daughter to stop talking about going to OU or WSU instead of Michigan.
/Smart kid, but lazy.
December 10th, 2014 at 9:26 AM ^
Hey, I got one kinda like that. Tweenager, but still.
December 10th, 2014 at 9:26 AM ^
It seems barring a late rally, my daughter is directional-bound.
December 10th, 2014 at 9:54 AM ^
My son, too. He's only a freshmen so there's time to improve but we have the opposite problem - he says he wants to go to Michigan and then gets a D on a biology honors assessment (and it was easy stuff, he just raced through it). He's a corner cutter. I'd like to get that fixed for Hanukah/Christmas.
December 10th, 2014 at 12:09 PM ^
Drives me crazy! It's not a race! Just take your time and double check it. My son is not a double checker. Ugh...

that's better than getting caught cheating on a chemistry test.

If only you could give them the foresight to understand how much better it is to just spend the couple of hours focusing and studying rather than have them look back in hindsight and think, "Wow, if I would have just studied more, I'd be in a much better position now." I don't know how many times I've said, "The better you do, the more choices you'll have when it comes time for college." Doesn't seem to compute yet.

Simpsons house. Silly, but he'll dig it. I don't want or need anything. Getting too old, I guess.
Who is this "X" you speak of....what is his record? I'm intrigued...
December 10th, 2014 at 9:31 AM ^
That would be John Doe, DJ Bonebrake, Billy Zoom and Exene. I never knew they were in football in anyway but their first three or four records will blow you away. Start with _More Fun in the New World_ and work backwards.

I have found that the best option for getting what you want for Christmas is buying what you want yourself and then finding someone who is willing to not only give it to you but also reimburse you.

Me and the wife (proper MGoBlog English) just gave each other a membership to the Vail Gondola Club. No more putting boots on in the parking lot or schlepping skis.
December 10th, 2014 at 9:56 AM ^
My husband and I are giving each other the gift of travel - a trip to San Franciscoo for New Year's. The last thing I need is more stuff.

Doesn't JIm Harbaugh live there?
YOU ARE GETTING JIM HARBAUGH AND BRINGING HIM TO ANN ARBOR?????

Surprise!!

I enjoy getting presents for the kids more than anything. I purchased the Millenium Falcon lego set for my nephew. He is going to lose his mind when he sees it. It is over 1200 pieces and guaranteed to cause my brother great pain as he will have to put it together on Christmas morning.
Secretly, I'm looking forward to playing with it as well.

My wife and I actually don't get presents for ourselves save for a little thing here and there - the main focus is the kids. This year, they are getting their own Kindle Fires so they can finally stop fighting over various mobile devices because of varied app selections on each. Now, it's "Download what you want, don't bother your sibling, have a nice Christmas."
Ten minutes later, the first squabble over who has which apps will erupt. I can see it.
