OT-Georgia Bulldogs Projected QB1 opts out due to COVID-19 concerns
Welp, there goes UGA’s chance at runner up glory again...

Odds that Justin Fields cites racism to transfer back and gets a waiver to play right away?
September 2nd, 2020 at 5:43 PM ^
I'd bet he's considering it.
September 2nd, 2020 at 6:09 PM ^
Ha my first thought was - I wonder if ol Justin Fields regrets transferring... ??
September 2nd, 2020 at 6:14 PM ^
He has to live in Columbus and attend The (tm) Ohio State University.
I'll leave it at that.
September 2nd, 2020 at 6:22 PM ^
"attend"
September 2nd, 2020 at 6:24 PM ^
I was just about to post almost the exact same thing. Nicely done!
September 2nd, 2020 at 6:29 PM ^
Yeah man. He's gonna play school!! Only there won't be 90,000 people cheering his progress in History of Sports 101.
September 2nd, 2020 at 7:56 PM ^
He has to pass HoS 098 first...credits didn’t transfer from those AP exams in high school

Hard to say someone at the school called you the n word when you don't go to class and you're only around the team. I guess he could say he was called that in the locker room, but that's more of a Michigan State thing.
September 2nd, 2020 at 9:07 PM ^
He’s been on campus there for almost the whole last week.
September 2nd, 2020 at 9:15 PM ^
He's probably lost.
September 3rd, 2020 at 5:50 AM ^
It i⁹s probably racism, or some ism anyway, that the B1G isn't playing this weekend.
The move was clearly specifically done to throw roadblocks in Fields path!
September 2nd, 2020 at 5:43 PM ^
Jt Daniels is better
September 2nd, 2020 at 5:49 PM ^
Not based on what they've put on tape.
September 2nd, 2020 at 6:13 PM ^
Based on what? Recruiting ranking and hype?
There's no guarantee JT Daniels wins the starting job at this point. He hasn't even been cleared for contact yet.
September 2nd, 2020 at 6:38 PM ^
D’wan Mathis may be better than both of them. He’s their Joe Milton.
September 2nd, 2020 at 6:42 PM ^
Ha, he’s terribly overrated. Also never had to compete for a starting QB in his life, and that streak looks to continue with this news. Helton anointed him when he probably should have been 3rd string.
September 2nd, 2020 at 8:19 PM ^
No way. Jamie Newman was a rock star at Wake where he was basically 2009 Denard. He was the obvious focus and he was still awesome. I was kind of looking forward to seeing him play on a talented roster to see what he could do at the next level
September 2nd, 2020 at 5:49 PM ^
Never even played a down for Georgia.
What're the odds that Justin Fields tries to transfer back?
September 2nd, 2020 at 5:54 PM ^
day late (ok 8 minutes) and a dollar short
September 2nd, 2020 at 6:34 PM ^
Saban has Skankey on speed dial to make sure that never happens.
September 2nd, 2020 at 5:52 PM ^
Part of me wonders if he got beat out for the spot by Daniels but from the little I've read Daniels may not be 100% back from his knee injury and this certainly seems like a shock to the fans/casual "insiders". So yeah, this is a big deal and I'm wondering if you'll see other guys sort of follow suit the closer they get to actually having to travel on these games.
September 2nd, 2020 at 6:19 PM ^
LSU had already lost four starters including Jamarr Chase, who, led the nation in receiving last season.
September 2nd, 2020 at 8:20 PM ^
Yep and they are still a national title contender LOL. They still have Terrace Marshall Kayshon Boutte and Trey Palmer and Racey McMath and Arik Gilbert...RBs Chris Curry John Emery Jr Tyrion Davis-Price and so many other wide receivers and tight ends! Loaded up front loaded on defense! Geaux bag men LoL...
September 2nd, 2020 at 8:29 PM ^
LSU has always had offensive talent but until last year they never had an OC and a QB who could maximize it. Since both are gone now it'll be interesting to see if they can recapture that magic or if they'll be back to a sometimes-inconsistent offense.
September 3rd, 2020 at 9:30 AM ^
Sounds like another program we all know very well...
September 2nd, 2020 at 6:50 PM ^
Listening to Off Campus on Sirius with Mark Packer, he was saying everyone he's talked to affiliated with Georgia was saying Newman was going to be the starter. He also said Daniels hasn't been medically cleared yet
September 2nd, 2020 at 8:27 PM ^
I had done a little research into Newman because I was briefly going to try another college fantasy football league this year and, yeah, everyone assumed Newman was the starter.

But Damnit! I am going to drink enough alcohol to make for a really good try at it.
September 2nd, 2020 at 6:04 PM ^
But the SEC has a fool-proof plan to play football without worrying about covid! Why would anyone want to opt out! Won't somebody think of the fans!
September 2nd, 2020 at 6:09 PM ^
To be fair, we don't care who catches covid is pretty fool proof as far as football is concerned.
September 2nd, 2020 at 6:56 PM ^
As I have maintained throughout this pandemic, if football as we know it were around in the middle of the 14th century, the SEC would have played through the Black Death. The dead would be grayshirted and replaced, and those who passed on the field from, say, the pneumonic version of the plague would be called for delay of game as they tossed their own lungs with their last earthly breath and their corpses were carried off.
September 2nd, 2020 at 10:02 PM ^
It didn't get a post here but Ja'Marr Chase for LSU also opted out of playing this year, which is a huge loss for them.
I wonder if this will get the ball rolling on paying players. Would Chase be sitting out if he was paid 250 grand? Of course we don't know how much he got from a bagman, though it kind of seems it's more about getting them to the university in the first place and then they get a little spending money and cars while they're in school.
September 2nd, 2020 at 6:10 PM ^
Never know... I remember when Peyton Manning finally left UT and they they finally beat UF and won the national title the next year.
I also remember OSU backups lighting us up (Jones and Haskins) after we looked To be in good shape against their running qb starters.
But you’re probably right...Saban will out-coach Kirby again.
September 2nd, 2020 at 7:35 PM ^
Whatever you’re drinking...ah hell, have another

"If I die, I die". Kirk Cousins. 2020
September 2nd, 2020 at 7:35 PM ^
Worked out well for Apollo Creed...
September 2nd, 2020 at 6:31 PM ^
If only every quarterback had the same outlook as Kirk Cousins.
September 2nd, 2020 at 6:58 PM ^
Goodbye Newwwman.
September 2nd, 2020 at 7:46 PM ^
Not a good sign. These SEC schools area hiding Covid cases. It is rampant spread on campuses.
September 2nd, 2020 at 10:54 PM ^
well at least it wasn't racism. . .
