OT: Friday Night Drinking Thread? Friday Night Drinking Thread
As I said in the Posbang thread, I am drinking a Wormtown Hopulence. About to finish and move onto the next one. Yesterday was IPA Day, but I'm letting that carry over into today. Who cares? Every day is IPA Day.
Had a Hookiebobb IPA from Crazy Mountain and finishing up the night on a Mad River Steelhead Extra Pale Ale. The night has gone downhill, but it happens when you're trying new beers.
Tea. It's my new thing.
Deep Ellum IPA. One of my favorite beers.
Just finished a DRIPA. Had a nice nose and initial hop bite but the aftertaste left something to be desired.
Anyhow moving on to Kuhnhenn's Black IPA that they brewed especially for Ashley's. Review coming soon....
On the malt character that I expect from a black IPA but as it warms toward room temperature it's getting a more robust flavor. It is described as a session black IPA so I guess it's ok that it's a little lighter on flavor.
I don't think that's horrible. It still reads as roll tide. But technically, that I (J) is an issue. Not near the worst I have ever seen
Rafi is day drunk!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!
It's my fav. beer
Picked up a case of Torpedo Extra IPA tonight. The wife & kids went to the beach for the weekend and I'm at home...watching reruns & drinking...god I'm getting old.
My brother and I always wish each other to have a good vacation whenever our respective wife and kids are out of town without us. Its great to take time off work and leave Dodge but its also great when the family Ieaves Dodge while you don't. I'm not saying a week long thing, but a day or two of space and quiet and going into the bathroom undisturbed....now that's a piece of heaven. Enjoy my friend and know there are people out there who are envious.
Will do my friend, thanks!
I am currently drinking a local offering from Altitude Brewing. It's their Black IPA, and later on I'll probably have an Odell St. Lupulin Extra Pale Ale. Slainte!
Left Hand Polestar. I don't like it.
I found a supply of this in the depths of the beer fridge - a bit late for spring, but it tastes great now, having sat there for parts of spring and summer now...
Good for nostalgia.
Family movie night at church, featuring cars 2 on the big screen. Considering sneaking a Jackhammer in my water bottle.
Hell awaits you.
Got a couple tall boys, watching the Tigs
Hopworks IPA. One of Portland's finest.
@ Lollapalooza rocking my face off. I've seen quite the amount of Michigan attire, I've been impressed.
Queens of the Stone Age just kicked A, now awaiting the one and only Nine Inch Nails. The drinking hasn't been top notch (Budweisers and many pulls of Captain Morgan/Crown Royal) but it's been a damn good Friday thus far.
Would t it be awesome if we could take a picture if our drinks from our phones and auto upload them here like a text message ??
Anthony might think its a bad idea. Bu Carlos Danger is all for it.
Cheap red wine from a box.
Epic first post to MGoBlog, No?
My first post was in a drinking thread too.
Don't know how it took me so long to finally try this one. Epic Brewery fails to disappoint.
Destroyed my shoulder earlier this week and after trying to play a kickball game, I've resorted to a night of pain, drinking beer and watching the Tigers.
PBR until I finally empty the fridge.
Sam Adams Irish Red.
New Belgium Trippel
Ale brewed with coriander
I like it. Not the best trippel out there, but for the price, it's fantastic.
La Fin Du Monde, best Tripel out there. Damn I love that beer.
At 7.8% ABV for the New Belgium Trippel, it's a lot of bang for you buck
La Fin and its 9% abv laughs at you.
Is that in the same price range as the New Belgium? I love Trippel's, so I'll have to look for this one.
What would you consider the best Trippel out there in that price range?
De dolle ouerbier and st bernardus trippel. Moving onto dales pale ale now
Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel. RIP Elmer.
I don't realize that he had died. Elmer T. Lee has to be the best value bourbon out there.
He passed a couple weeks ago. And yeah, I can see why people rave about this stuff. Quite tasty.
I also like eagle rare in that price range. Those are my utility bourbons. Folks get snobby because they are moderately priced, but they stand up to bourbons that are much pricier. Always try to keep something nicer around as well though.
The Macallan 12... and a cheap cigar.
Triple IPA. I like IPA's, but this one might be a little much for my tastes.
had a Belfast Lobster Ale at a great local seafood place, now winding down with some Allagash Whites.
Where are you located? That sounds awesome.
Well, the tigers just won the quickest 9-inning game ever played it seems. So I don't know what else to do but keep drinking. I have some wine and Busch light.
Bells Two Hearted. It might be the best beer ever made.
fuck do I love Two Hearted Ale!!
but can't get a single match in HD so I've resorted to the CFL. You win, universe, you win.
I watched CFL last week. Lame. My wife can't fathom why I watch replays of Michigan football on YouTube or BTN. God, I need Aug. 31.
Good call. UTL game will be going on now
when I was at BWW and there was nothing else on the TV. Those poor defenses have even more ground to cover than usual!
Since the Tigers game ended so quickly, I am watching Space Jam while drinking Sam Adams Porch Rocker.
Oh, all you with your classy craft beers. I'm drinking champagne tonight, and by champagne I mean High Life.
Stop making so much sense. Automatic great night...might as well grab 30.
Dragon's Milk Bourbon barrel stout.
Best beer on the planet as far as I'm concerned.
This is a BA Stout that I have been wanting to try for awhile now. How does it hold up to KBS or BCBS?
Simply the best in my mind. roasty malt flavor, definitely can taste the oak. finishes vanilla and dark chocolate for me. if you can get out to Holland try it on tap, even better. Don't ever drink it from the bottle, always pour into a glass
The wife and I are thinking about doing our anniversary next year on Lake Michigan while also traveling to some of the many great breweries in SW Michigan, and New Holland will definitely be on that list (along with Founders, Bells, Dark Horse, etc). As far as the glass thing goes, don't worry, I will travel with my favorite snifter.
New Holland is a must, but in Grand Haven, there is a real small one called "Odd Side Ales" which has some unique brews.
some of that New Holland Dragon's Milk tonight, but instead settled for a gallon of 1%. Meijer had Cocoa Puffs and Cheerios on sale buy one/one free, and I figured the lowfat stuff might be a safer choice in my bowl tomorrow morning.
HOWEVER, while in the beer aisle, I spied a 4-pack of 16 ouncers of this:
Brewery Vivant Belgian Style IPA
on sale and saved $2.00 off regular price. Almost enough to pay for that milk...
Enjoyed a couple of them with pizza while watching the Tigers beat the ChiSox, so good that I'll have to go back and get more before the sale ends tomorrow. At 6.5% AbV, a little less C2H5OH than most most IPA's, has a really nice complex "hoppiness" to it that is in perfect balance with a hint of sweetness and a very fruity aroma, an overall very unique brew. I had heard that this Belgian IPA was good, but WOW, this one is really top-notch, much better than I expected.
Rough day at work, so that means a lot of beer. haha
Sitting on the shores of St. James Harbor on Beaver Island. Good times.
Great place in the summer... Is the Emerald Isle working again?
she dropped me off on Thursday.
I decided to skip the Odell St. Lupulin and instead open a bottle of Avery Twenty Anniversary DIPA. This beer is getting near 3 months old, so I think it was my responsilbilty to enjoy this while still (relatively) fresh.
Bad night? That is the exact reason TO drink.
and many glasses!
Watching the Nats versus the Brewers, 1-0 in the 5th.
Makers on ice. It's been a long week. I'm on #3.
Classic American lager. 'Nuff said
Billions unite daily while enjoying its superior everlasting refreshment
Chased with some Kodiak. Perfect night.
Huma Lupa Licious from Short's while watching the sunset from Shanty Creek.
That's a nice ending to a day...
Going to DTW! gonna be in Michigan by morning! had a Ruin Ten while packing. . now going to the airport!
Just got back to Tulsa after a long week of work in Stillwater.
Started with a Burton Baton and now drinking a local brew Marshall Atlas IPA, good stuff!
Warsteiner Oktoberfest and some MLB.tv.
New Amsterdam Citron and Soda. Followed by New Amsterdam Coconut and Soda.
Founders has backwoods bastard on tap. Boom.
evan williams, coke side.
I haven't drunk as much as the rest of you if I'm the last one left....but unwinding after a long week with some gin.
Hello! Is there anybody out there?
Pint of Ciroc Red Berry to the head. Pray for my liver. Good night.
