OT: Friday Night Drinking Thread? Friday Night Drinking Thread

Submitted by Brown Bear on
The greatest time of the year is almost upon us team and to prepare we shall drink! What's your drink('s) of choice for this fine Friday night? I was excited to find a bomber of Firestone Walker Double Jack at Binny's in Chicago and that's already been finished off. Now onto some Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald.

Well, the tigers just won the quickest 9-inning game ever played it seems. So I don't know what else to do but keep drinking. I have some wine and Busch light.

The wife and I are thinking about doing our anniversary next year on Lake Michigan while also traveling to some of the many great breweries in SW Michigan, and New Holland will definitely be on that list (along with Founders, Bells, Dark Horse, etc). As far as the glass thing goes, don't worry, I will travel with my favorite snifter.

some of that New Holland Dragon's Milk tonight, but instead settled for a gallon of 1%. Meijer had Cocoa Puffs and Cheerios on sale buy one/one free, and I figured the lowfat stuff might be a safer choice in my bowl tomorrow morning.

HOWEVER, while in the beer aisle, I spied a 4-pack of 16 ouncers of this:

TriompheBrewery Vivant Belgian Style IPA

on sale and saved $2.00 off regular price.  Almost enough to pay for that milk...

Enjoyed a couple of them with pizza while watching the Tigers beat the ChiSox, so good that I'll have to go back and get more before the sale ends tomorrow.  At 6.5% AbV, a little less C2H5OH than most most IPA's, has a really nice complex "hoppiness" to it that is in perfect balance with a hint of sweetness and a very fruity aroma, an overall very unique brew.   I had heard that this Belgian IPA was good, but WOW, this one is really top-notch, much better than I expected.

I decided to skip the Odell St. Lupulin and instead open a bottle of Avery Twenty Anniversary DIPA. This beer is getting near 3 months old, so I think it was my responsilbilty to enjoy this while still (relatively) fresh.

Just got back to Tulsa after a long week of work in Stillwater. Started with a Burton Baton and now drinking a local brew Marshall Atlas IPA, good stuff!
