I was hoping for a link taking me to these great flight and hotel specials. Im going to this game. NYE in New Orleans is going to be awesome.

My bad I put question mark now.

But it's always ridiculously expensive. And is again this year. And doesn't even have you in New Orleans for New Year's!

Still waiting to find out what team hotel is.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:25 PM ^
But this is in NO way off topic. Also, wish I could help, but I'll be there on business that week, so my hotel and flight are already booked and paid for! I love my job!
December 4th, 2011 at 9:31 PM ^
they allow for one guest? I'll sleep with the girl next door... so that'll solve the hotel room issue.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:31 PM ^
And a free stay at my friends house.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:37 PM ^
And, seems like (from GR) tickets aren't gonna be cheap-like $400. :(
December 4th, 2011 at 9:38 PM ^
Any takers?
December 4th, 2011 at 10:12 PM ^
GR is an expensive-ass airport. I hate it.
December 5th, 2011 at 12:02 AM ^
it was $407 after taxes. Good thing I had that credit from when United messed up last time...
December 5th, 2011 at 12:42 AM ^
Well played. I booked a couple hours later and paid $150 more. I had checked earlier in the day; should have pulled trigger then. They were 330 or so.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:38 PM ^
How stupid would it be to drive from Michigan to the super dome?
December 4th, 2011 at 9:39 PM ^
Like 17 hours from GR.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:42 PM ^
I live 3 hrs. from in Pensacola, FL and have looked into driving to AA for a game. 15 hrs +/-, crazy gas prices (unless you're in a Prius/Volt), and not to mention we're c.s.t.
December 4th, 2011 at 10:13 PM ^
Either that or very stupid. Either way we have 3 of us who will be doing just that. I'm sure we could make room for more/get a larger vehicle for any who want to pay less than the $1900.00 that the Alumni Association shuttle costs.
December 4th, 2011 at 10:33 PM ^
were are you guys driving from?
December 4th, 2011 at 10:38 PM ^
I'm in Ann Arbor. My buddy and his step brother live in Grand Rapids.
December 4th, 2011 at 10:19 PM ^
Actually did AA to Nola for Spring Break last year. If you go with multiple people it's pretty cheap, but it's tough not to have to stop for a night somewhere. Also learn to like Subway or chicken and waffles or don't eat throughout the southern half of the trip.
December 4th, 2011 at 11:03 PM ^
Brohammad, if you don't eat throughout the southern part of the trip you will miss out on Chik-Fil-A.
December 4th, 2011 at 10:43 PM ^
I drove from AA-NOLA for Mardi Gras a couple of years ago. Totally doable and not bad at all especially if you have buddies with you. Way cheaper too.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:44 PM ^
Aaaaaaaany ideas? Looking at tix now and would kinda like to be around those of my kind.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:44 PM ^
Ticketmaster has packages for the Hotel and Ticket, nothing for a flight though.
December 4th, 2011 at 9:45 PM ^
problem is the cost of staying in NO over NYE; hotel until the 4th will cost you at least $250 a night at the hotels on Canal or near the French Quarter.
Delta flights seem to be running $600 with a connection; the direct flight only has first class available
December 4th, 2011 at 9:52 PM ^
would probably get you the best deal for air travel. If you are military Delta always offers a discount. Hotwire will probably get you the best deal for a hotel. Another option is to fly into a city a couple hours away and take the train into New Orleans or rent a car.
December 4th, 2011 at 10:42 PM ^
Can be had round-trip for 200-300, but both of those are more than a day travel time, trains routing through Chicago. For those with plenty of time but no money, you could probably make that work.
December 4th, 2011 at 10:48 PM ^
Is about $345 roundtrip, leaving on 3rd and returning on 4th.
December 4th, 2011 at 11:06 PM ^
Just a LUV-ly reminder to MGoFans out there, Southwest uses Love Field (KDAL) in Dallas. If you're looking at a connection from MI or states who's borders don't touch Texas you'll be flying into DFW and will need to go across town to make a connection. Due to the soon-to-be-expired Wright Amendment Southwest cannot legally sell a ticket from (for example) DTW-DAL. You could connect to MSY (New Orleans) from DTW through Chicago-Midway (MDW), St. Louis (STL) or Nashville (BNA) though. Good luck booking travel and I hope to be able to make it down to join in the fun!
December 5th, 2011 at 6:18 AM ^
Ouch..why not just drive? It's only like 7 hours and much cheaper. And then you will have a vehicle there
December 4th, 2011 at 11:02 PM ^
I just booked 3 nights in the Naval Base there in New Orleans, a half hour away from the stadium for $27 bucks a night. Shared bathroom but for $27 a night I am not going to complain!
I am going to be driving there from Ft.Hood. I just need tickets now!
December 4th, 2011 at 11:04 PM ^
Has anyone been before and know anything about parking? The best I could do was 6.5 miles away so no walking for me.
December 4th, 2011 at 11:25 PM ^
Public Parking: Superdome Garages 1,2, 5 and 6 are available for public parking at the rate of $25.00 per car. There are no reservations. The Parking garages and two surface lots are adjacent to the Louisiana Superdome and the New Orleans Arena. The garages are designated #1, #2, #5 and #6. Inspections of vehicles parking by law enforcement officials may be conducted near the stadium as patrons arrive.
December 5th, 2011 at 6:16 AM ^
Public transportation is pretty good in nawlins. That's prob your best bet.
December 4th, 2011 at 11:24 PM ^
If it weren't for parking, I'd drive(from Ann Arbor) to Chicago, where multiple carriers have non-stop $300 round trip tickets. Think its around $10/day like it is at DTW? Seems like even if you dont drive, there's going to be a 3 hour layover...might as well save some cash and spend that time in the car instead of the airport...
December 4th, 2011 at 11:35 PM ^
that I've found are on Air Tran. I booked a package on priceline: Jan 2 to Jan 4, flight on Air Tran, hotel at the Sheraton and ground transportation to/from airport/hotel for $860.
I did a search on packages from Detroit to New Orleans, went to the Hotels Near tab, went to Other Landmarks then Superdome. Its about a mile from the hotel to the stadium, so will probably just walk it.
[Edit:] Went back to priceline to look and looks like Air Tran is booked, it doesn't even give it as an offer. Package is now $956 (different airlines and does not include ground transportation.

Anyone with an extra ticket can stay with me in Dallas...4hour drive
December 5th, 2011 at 3:41 AM ^
Ehh, more like 7 or 8 hours. Made the drive from Mesquite several times.
December 5th, 2011 at 12:06 PM ^
My buddies and I are driving from Detroit to New Orleans. Yup, driving. Just rented a car on Priceline for $16/day.
December 6th, 2011 at 11:25 AM ^
I'm driving down and meeting a bunch of buddies from other states in NOLA, but I don't want to drive alone or spend a ridiculous amount on air fare.
Is anyone else looking for an extra person or willing to drive down? I made the trip last year and just solo drove it without any stops so I am completely willing to do it again. Would be awesome to split the travel costs however.
I'd be looking to leave Friday afternoon or morning. We would leave the day after the bowl game probably in the morning/afternoon as well.
