OT: Fantasy Football Start/Sit em Thread
I propose a new weekly OT thread: Fantasy Football Start/Sit em. Every week I encounter a dilemma and I'm sure I am not alone. Mods feel free to delete if this isn't a good idea. I think this could be a fun new tradition.
Disclaimer: I am in a NON-PPR 2 QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 2Flex, 1 D/ST, 1 K league.
This week I am deciding between 3 players for 2 spots.
WR Golden Tate vs Arizona (24th ranked D vs Opposing WRs)-ESPN projection 7 Fpts
WR Brandon Marshall vs Minnesota (11th ranked D vs Opposing WRs)-ESPN projection 4 Fpts
RB Terrance West vs Houston (23rd ranked D vs Opposing RBs)-ESPN projection 10 Fpts
My thoughts:
Tate performed well opposite Megatron last week with 10 Fpts for me. I am most confident he will get one of the spots.
Marshall has been limited with an ankle inury but did rack up some points last week against GB once the game was already over. Minnesota has been really good against opposing WRS and it is gonna be a cold game (probably with snow) to be throwing footballs around for long chunks of yards. The last time I sat Marshall he went off against San Fran.
West is in line for the most snaps of the 3 RBS in Cleveland. It worked well last week against Cincy but I am skeptical of trusting him again even if Houston is a favorable matchup for RBs in what is going to be a cold game.
What are your thoughts on my dilemma? What is your Start/Sit em decision of the week?
Go Blue!

I'm starting Jennings because the Bears defense is horrible. I'm torn between Tate and Marshall because the Marshall has a better matchup, but Tate has been golden thus far this season.

Considering Tate is not going to be guarded by Patrick Peterson, I'd pick Tate over Marshall.

I absolutely refuse to put any faith in any Chicago receivers anymore. Fuck the Bears.

The Lions OL has not been good this season and the Lions typically struggle in the desert.

I'd pick Richardson because that should be a high scoring game. I would hate that situation though. I will never draft a Carolina player again.

Cadet can't be relied on...
and even with williams back, stewart is just plain better.
TRich intrigues me but I just don't see INDY runing on NE
November 16th, 2014 at 11:51 AM ^
Easily Stewart. Considering the beating Cam took last week, they aren't gonna want him holding on to the ball all day, which leads to runs and check downs.

Why are you so confident in West? If one of the other 2 rbs start running well, West will be riding the pine.

I think Brandon Marshall will have a good game. Even though the Bears suck, Cutler looks his way before anyone else.
I'm just as skeptical of West as you are, but I'm starting him anyway because Arian Foster is out and 2 of my other RBs or on bye.
Thoughts on Brandon LaFell vs Martavis Bryant?
November 16th, 2014 at 10:50 AM ^
Bryant has been hot but NE is going to score a lot of points this game. That's a real tough call. I'd pick Bryant.
November 16th, 2014 at 11:40 AM ^
I know he has been up and down this year, but Cutler feeds him: if he plays you play him...
I am worried about Tate as I am the lions; this game has a 20-17 final written all over it...
November 16th, 2014 at 11:50 AM ^
What I love about Tate is that the Lions normally open the game targeting Tate 5+ times in the first half. TD's from him are bonuses. 8+ points from Tate is a win for me.
November 16th, 2014 at 11:01 AM ^
Tate or Edelman? I'm leaning towards Edelman because Arizona's defense is good.
November 16th, 2014 at 11:02 AM ^
November 16th, 2014 at 11:41 AM ^
With LaFell's arrival I am a litte down on Edelman...
November 16th, 2014 at 11:02 AM ^
My primary dilemma for the week (and probably every week going forward): I have to pick two WRs from Golden Tate, Roddy White, and Odell Beckham, Jr. Right now I'm thinking Tate and Beckham, because of Tate's consistency even with Megatron back and Beckham's much higher volume of targets relative to White, who is a little too up and down and TD dependent for my tastes.
To the OP: I'd say Marshall and Tate. Tate for sure, given the Lions will be throwing a lot (Arizona's run D is good and the Lions' run O is pretty weak), and Tate has been really consistent for weeks. Marshall...well, mostly because I wouldn't trust West. You'd be gambling on picking the hot hand out of a three-headed RBBC. Both Marshall and West are risky, but Marshall seems like both the safer bet and the higher upside.
November 16th, 2014 at 11:09 AM ^
In your situation I would go with Tate and Beckham too. I value targets over everything most times. I think I am sticking Marshall and Tate. Starting West concerns me.
November 16th, 2014 at 11:23 AM ^
Agreed about the targets. Tate and Beckham are getting like twice the number of targets comapred to Roddy.
November 16th, 2014 at 11:11 AM ^
he will surely get more targets in the passing game. I have a feeling that Riddick will have a good game today. He has been coming on as of late. He has made big catches in the past two wins.
November 16th, 2014 at 11:16 AM ^
Is your league PPR?
I think Riddick would be a bit of a late season steal in PPR leagues. Bush wasn't even doing that great before the injury, and now he can't stay on the field even after the bye. Riddick definitely has an opportunity to keep earning playing time.
November 16th, 2014 at 11:20 AM ^
and with Stafford going to Theo late in games(and Theo producing) I see him growing more comfortable with Riddick. Riddick is going to be a big part of the Lions plans going forward. He is a guy they can move all around on offense. Outside, slot, RB...the guy is versatile and that is an attribute the Saints-style offense Lombardi is running likes.
November 16th, 2014 at 11:22 AM ^
I had Joique Bell last year and hated the inconsistency of the lion's running game. Riddick has been pretty good though. Personally I would avoid any Lion's RB unless you are in dire need.

November 16th, 2014 at 11:35 AM ^
That's brutal. I'd pick Bennett just because of the red zone upside. Rainey has a tough matchup and Jones is really inconsistent.
November 16th, 2014 at 11:40 AM ^
I say this as someone who tried to roll the dice with Rainey last week as a bye fill-in, I would strongly advise against playing Rainey.
I would definitely go Bennett over Jones. Jones has gotten more targets but is consistently scoring less than Bennett every week. Jones gets 0-5 points a week; Bennett gets 5-10. And even if you don't trust Cutler, I wouldn't trust Carr any more.

PPR, performance league (+5 over 100 yards)
Charles Sims
or
Theo Riddick
I have Riddick in.

You just don't know if Sims is gonna be getting a good look today. I'd go with Riddick too.

CJ Anderson or Jerick McKinnon??
November 16th, 2014 at 11:55 AM ^
I think Minnesota is going to run A LOT vs the Bears. No guarantees with CJ. ESPN is projecting a lot from CJ but his big game was against the Raiders. I foresee a RBBC apporach from Denver. Asiata might be stealing the touchdowns from Mckinnon but Mckinnon should see more snaps.
November 16th, 2014 at 11:58 AM ^
Coinflip. I'd go Anderson just because the Broncos could be way ahead late and Anderson could rack up some garbage time stats.
November 16th, 2014 at 12:59 PM ^
I'm probably too late with this advice but Asiata is the one who scores, not mckinnon...
I don't think Ball is ready to carry the rock either.

LaFell. Panthers are a tire fire.
November 16th, 2014 at 11:57 AM ^
Benjamin is the KING of garbage time TDs. That's tough but I'd go with LeFell based on who is throwing the ball.

PPR league, need to choose an RB2 and Flex.
RB2: Matt Asiata, Ben Tate, or DeAngelo Williams
Flex: Mike Evans or Julian Edelman
November 16th, 2014 at 12:03 PM ^
Asiata and Evans. Asiata should get a TD today in the snow. Evans is the hot WR.
November 16th, 2014 at 12:01 PM ^
according to Twitter.

Grabbed Crowell immediately, but do I like him more than Asiata with Cleveland's "hot hand" approach? All three Browns RBs scored last week against Cincy but it was Crowell who put the ball on the turf (though it was later overturned), hence my hesitation.

That is a straight toss up man. No advice can help you in this situation haha. Both are questionable to get you points. Go with your gut.
