OT: End of OT is nigh. Get the OT out of your system here

Submitted by JeepinBen on

Saturday and/or Sunday around here means its the start of a Game Week. With previews, actual football games, etc. starting up the board is going to have to get a lot less OT. That said, binge and purge on some OT in this thread. Get it out of your system!

Anyone else hit the Woodward Dream Cruise? I saw a Porsche 550 Spyder in person that I'd trade for a whole bunch of money I dont yet have...

Anyone surprise meet their Korean Inlaws? Have issues with their dogs' anal glands?

We're running out of time, if you've got a question for the board ask it now.

EDIT: here are links to the 2 FAQ pages on the blog as well as Brian's official topic policy

What's the offtopic policy?
In the offseason, offtopic posts are tolerated. During football season they are discouraged and may be subject to removal depending on how alert the moderators are.
What counts as on- and off- topic?
ONTOPIC
• Anything Michigan sports related
• Anything related to other Big Ten teams or upcoming opponents
• Stuff about the blog itself
• University of Michigan topics that don't relate to sports
GRAY AREA
• College sports in general
• Ann Arbor
UNWELCOME, KTHX
• Politics
• Drew Sharp, Ace Williams, Mike Valenti. Saying stupid and/or false things about Michigan in order to get Michigan fans upset is a tried and true way to phish for clicks. Let's not feed the trolls.
OFFTOPIC
• Pro sports of any variety
• Everything else We will let pro sports topics slide even during football season but "everything else" posts are likely to get the axe.

don't have to.  The Road was one of the best books I have ever read and there was no hope to be found there, but that was the question, what do people do when there is no hope?  I started the Leftovers and did not have a problem with the premise, I just did not think it was very good.  A show like that needs to make me think, and I just found myself thinking about other things (i.e. Big Macs) while it was on.

I'm a big Cormac McCarthy fan but even I found The Road to be almost too much. For anyone wanting to get started on McCarthy I usually recommend "No Country for Old Men," which is not exactly a real life-affirming novel, but it's a gripping tale with a great bad guy who is totally perverse. I also love the dialogue and especially the soliloquies of Sheriff Ed Tom Bell. As one who appreciates the craft, I find McCarthy to be a sublime writer.

read No Country you realize that for all the praise heaped upon the Cohen brothers, they actually left a lot of the best stuff from the book.  Bell's narrative appears sporatically in the movie but you would never know how good it is in the book.  I just go back and read those passages now.

I disagree about The Road.  It was every bit as tough as you say and was actually a challenge to get through but I thought it was his masterpeice and a masterpeice, period.

Been all over this country and all they have are the cabbage ones. I've been to China and no bean sprouts or mini shrimp... Why are the different in the D? I'm going to attempt to make them but I also need the dipping sauce (Plum?).

Any advice?

NOT OT. Fuck Oiho/Figthings/Staee.

We've burned through all of House of Cards and Orange is the New Black. I'm watching Cosmos right now, but what else should I be watching that I'm not watching?

above, I do recommend The Killing.  You have all four season of it on Netflix.  It is nothing legendary but does not suck at all.  Could help to fill the void.  If not, just start Breaking Bad from the beginning again and you will be fine.

The wire.

I'm pretty sure you can't even get it on netflix, but if you're looking for a show and haven't seen it, that's the show to watch.

Just go out and buy the dvds.  I'll mail you the cost if you don't like it.

It's over recommended for a reason.

/aside Season five did happen.

think it "sucked."  I would not go that far.  It had its moments.  You can only do so much in six episodes. It sucked in spots, i will give you that, but it pulled it together for a pretty strong finale.

You can't be wrong. Some people like natural light, but I like oak aged microbrews. It doesn't mean I am wrong. A girl I know only puts ketchup on a coney dog and hates it with mustard. We always slam people on here for the wrong opinion. I am not saying you do.... awww fuck it I forgot my point. Slam away lol.

I've never heard of.

I was going to start my first topic based on this today, but saw this thread.

Something along the lines of Fear Factory (yes, I realize that's a horrible band).

It’s true that Peter Wolf was lead singer of the J. Geils Band, but the lead guitarist of the band is John W. Geils, Jr.

Although Ian Anderson was frontman for Jethro Tull throughout the band’s existence, no one named Jethro Tull ever has played with that band.  The band was named after the real Jethro Tull, the Englishman who, in 1701, perfected the mechanical seed drill that enables seeds to be properly sowed at the proper depth ad with the proper spacing in rows.

As for your workout music, consider this from The J. Geils Band.

I understand that politics, religion and writing in verse (as I’ve often learned) are strictly prohibited; but are Posbang threads also banned during NO-OT season?

Will there ever be an MGoBlog Off Topic tab with a drop-down menu for discussions concerning:

We're looking at buying some kayaks: Ocean Kayak brand Banzi for the kids and Ocean Kayak brand Duo Tandem. Opinions?

Lillyhammer is a good Netflix series. Steven Van Zandt plays a mobster relocated to Lillehammer, Norway under witness protection. Very funny. Remember to turn on the subtitles, it's half in Norwegian.

I like Zombie novels. I'm reading "The Girl with all the Gifts" right now  and it's pretty good.
