OT: EA NCAA Evolution
With everything going on with USC, Ohio State and this Pryor saga, we all can agree that the landscape of college football has changed. The game is not what it used to, and in my epinion, it has been long overdue that video games change along with it. The changes have already begun, as has been previously posted on here (can't find the thread but link to article here), in NCAA '12. You can change divisions, and even create 16-team superconferences if you'd like, and which I look forward to doing.
However, the games have neglected one big dark side to college football-- recruiting violations. I have been thinking how they could utilize a "cash shake" option in recruiting. There could be a definite risk involved, with NCAA sanctions and the like. You could choose to play dirty, or run a clean program (yay Michigan).
Have a special hook-up with a dealership? Tell your players they can get cars, or cash. But run the risk of having an NCAA investigation.
What other changed would you like to see them implement? How could they improve your lazy evenings on the couch? Share.
best. idea. ever.
First, its a terrible idea to put cheating into the game? It would be like if you played The Show or MLB 2k11 and in Be a Pro mode, you had the choice to juice up on steroids in the off season and run the risk of failing a drug test, or play clean. Dumb.
Terrible idea. If they are going to change anything with recruiting there is much they could add to it...be able to see your prospects hs stats, there should be a lot more position changes, talk to future prospects, be able to get prospects to drop their verbals and sleeper 3* recruits who turn into studs, and transfers among the current team.
There are sleepers they're just rare. My most memorable was a two star who got to a 94 rating a won the Heisman trophy, but this was on NCAA 09' when the player progression system raised abilities more than ten points over the course of a career(shakes fist at programmers of NCAA 11').
That would be awesome. "Recruit X has heard that the girls are way hotter at another school. Options: a) pimp out cheerleaders, b) hire sorority as "campus liaisons", c) emphasize strong academics and tradition".

I don't think you'd see the dirty deals in an EA game though (are they NCAA endorsed?). It'd have to be some up-and-comer type game studio.
lmao that would be interesting.
Every single FBS program already chooses b and c. Michigan has some type of hostess group.
They did have academic penalties one year but it was pretty much random. In recruiting players has discipline grades when being recruited but I don't think it meant much. However you did have to allot points in the preseason to deal with violations and if you couldn't discipline enough you got hit at the end of the year with scholly losses (IIRC).

I think it would be interesting to have something like you said but only if it was done by the CPU also and if it wasn't just random like previous attempts. Would make it easier to recruit at a smaller school but probably would need to make recruiting more difficult as a whole to keep things interesting. After a few years coaching Mich or other big name schools recruiting isn't that hard without the ability to cheat.
That would be incredibly awesome but will never happen.... the NCAA would never agree to that option being a part of the video game.
I've talked with someone who works at EA, specifically for NCAA. They have no interest in jeopardizing that licensing right.
You could also just win games and make recruits like your school that way...
They should also make Gordon Gee's worst fear come true, and give the head coach the ability to fire the school president.
I'm all for OSU having C- rating next year, but I do not think this should be a part of the game. I think the game tries to mimic real life in the most annoying ways. Why on earth should I get random holding penalties when I as a player did nothing wrong? That's stupid. I don't feel like getting punished because some random number generator decided it was about time my QB flacked out and threw a randomly miss fired ball.
And you're not losing a multi-million dollar job if they do it.
if there's no chance involved then it would be totally boring and you could win every game so easily by doing the same thing every time
will not steal another $60 from me this year. That game always disappoints.
I usually agree that the game doesn't usually meet the hype, but this year's addition should have actual gameplay upgrades instead of minor adjustments to dynasty, online gameplay, etc. The fact that there's no more "suctioning" makes it look so much more appealing, not to mention the fact that a player's momentum actually plays a part now.
But then again, maybe they're just good at baiting me in...
I've spent a lot of time thinking about this game since me and a few buddies got together to do an online dynasty last year. A few of the improvements we thought of:
-Schools recruit players who fit their system (rumored to be in NCAA 12)
-Smarter recruiting by the computer teams (no teams taking 6 DT's in a class)
-Players you recruit should be on par with the talent you already have (1 and 2 star recruits in NCAA 11 turned out to be 50's overall, which is impossible to work with)
-Coaching carousel and being able to hire/fire coordinators and assistant coaches (in NCAA 12)
As you can see, we're kind of nerds about this game. I'm hoping to see a lot of these fixed in the new game, along with the pass defense, of course.
Also, if anyone is interested in an NCAA 12 online dynasty, let me know!
I tried reading your post in Tyler's voice but with the lack of f-bombs, it wasn't quite the same.
I'm in. PSN is treb12
archer21 is my PSN
Ahh man, I'm on the 360. Any other xbox players out there?
There's negative recruiting, unsportsman-like play, late hits (though when was the last edition where it was called as a penalty other than on the QB?), putting guys back in when they're still injured, promises made to the players and broken, and you have to cut guys to get your roster under 75 (really, by now they can't fit in the 10 extra players for each team??)....but does anything come of it? Are there any negative consequences? If they could fix that, it would be a first step towards any of the other stuff suggested.
EA will never do that, but maybe midway will one day....of course they wouldn't have real school names or anything
throwback jersey.
I wish they gave you the ability to give out the same number to two players on different sides of the ball in addition to having 85 instead of 70 roster spots. I love NCAA but I am dreading having to find out who is left off the roster and what numbers are messed up.
This game from the past included sanctions:
It's a pure simulation game but the off the field features are still deeper and broader than any modern game.
I'm gonna be pissed
Yeah, can they please release a patch for the game that cuts TP out completely?
That would be cool but I think they tried that a couple of years ago with probation/eligibility and it wasn't executed well. I used Michigan and had a couple of incidents over 4-5 years but a friend of mine playing with a SEC school (imagine that) complained about it being a huge pain in the ass. He lost several players for random amounts of games due to academics and off field issues.
Maybe they'll try again in the future. I'm not sure why but EA loves to drop features and bring them back years later claiming they are "new". I'm still waiting for the play editor to return. Having Denard with full dreads and 99 speed/acceleration will ease the pain slightly.
they should give your program stat points for how your are precieved by reuits and in general than can be earned and taken away by achievemnts and add a risk factor to the recruit. all recruits don't reach the potential and having too many high risk kids on your team increases the rick factor for all of the kids
