OT: Dantonio just wants to have fun.
I marked this "OT" because people have complained about Sparty postings.
http://detnews.com/article/20110617/SPORTS0202/106170342/Q&A--Mark-Dant…
At first glance it's an innocuous article with Dantonio swinging at a bunch of softballs, but I think it's particularly notable for the photo. He is *smiling*. Did he finally take my advice and eat a bucket of prunes?
I hate listening to that d-bag talk, even if it's just in print.
Not a dig at the OP, as I'm sure some people would love to read this, but personally the more I read/hear/see that man, the more I despise him.
I have a friend exactly like you. He was once in a room with Dantinio, talked to him and decided that he hated the guy. He just didn't like him. Not sure what the rational is, but that's the story.
Then I found 5 dollars.
with what has happened, and with what is to come. Hoke is kicking his ass in recruiting, and Michigan is on pace to reclaim the state. He has accepted the inevitable.
Do you call that a smile? It looks to me like he is thinking "oh no, is that my angina? Where is my nitro?"
I read this and thought it said "mangina". I'm sticking with that interpretation.
I got all things that are good!
From a shoe?

Do ya love me? Make an assessment
"....turned it into a national championship contender."
I couldn't continue after that line.
Sparty has as much of a national championship chance as Pryor does at being a starting QB in the NFL this year.
So you're saying I should pick him up in Fantasy? See you later, Peyton, TP is the new hotness.
Dantonio is a fucking idiot. One year in a row of above 500 record.
Very insightful. Remember when we thought Turdriguez was a genius?
God I want to take them down a peg or two
'Cause we are going to kick his smug, Tressel-like, overrated ASS from here on out.

He finally applied some prescription-strength Preparation H to that humongous, lemon-sized hemorrhoid he's been carrying around.
For some reason when I see Dantonio's face, I keep picturing him in the American Gothic painting by Grant Wood. If someone can photoshop this image, there is a cool +1 funny moderation in it for you.
That would be it. What a lovely couple they make. Mr. and Mrs. Someoneshitinmycereal. Thanks bud
I just don't get it, they've had one good season ONE! and sparty's are acting like they are the best thing since sliced bread. Can't wait till Oct. 15th!
how he names his trick plays. Seems like a great way to get the players invested.
They have an annual 'cornhole' tourney?
<br>This must be prep for the prison downlow competition.
All kidding aside, Dantonio really looks aged in that photo.
I think last season really took it's toll on him, obviously.
I say this with no intention of disparaging: MSU football coach is one of the most thankless jobs in college football if you strongly want to build a long term power. The 2012 recruiting is evidence of that. It's a recurring problem that one double digit win year won't cure.
On the other hand, their fans are fine if you are decent but beat Michigan semi-regularly. So it evens out. But a really driven and talented coach is going to hit a wall there.
Interesting that he says he needs to learn that Michigan-Michigan State is something "healthy". Maybe that means that he sort of knows that destruction of Michigan football isn't going to happen and getting obsessed with achieving supremacy isn't wise?
...but having a heart attack or any other potentially fatal event often allows people to, as Walter Hagen said, "stop and smell the roses." I guess those metaphorical roses are the only roses Dantonio will be smelling anytime soon, though.
I see what you did there...
Once the world becomes normal again M fans will be hearing about the last 3 years for the next millennia, it will just be added to "Wait till basketball season! Remember those three years?"
Is it common for NCAA football coaches to have Masters Degrees? Say what you want about Dantonio, I think that's pretty impressive that he has a Masters.
As much as I hate him, I respect this as well. I'm close to getting mine and it's not an easy task.
I think Tressel has a Master's degree as well!
Good one.
Yea a full ride to get his MTBE....Master's of Turning a Blind Eye
Bo had one, Tressel has one, Carr has one, Bo Pelini has one, Mack Brown has his, as does Pete Carroll.
Kevin Wilson and Bob Stoops started work on one and didn't finish.
From NYU-Stony Brook if I recall correctly.
What!? Are you sure?
Never mind.
Actually, I thought he came off pretty well in that interview; granted, they were asking obvious questions. But his mention of the fact that that he wants the players to have a fun experience because of the hard work they do gave me a smile. After all, the players are college kids, they should have a good time while they're there (clarification: I mean a lawful good time).
The comment about the countdown clock was interesting.
Doesn't his grin look more like a grimace? Kind of like he is passing a kidney stone.
somewhere. Just too old for the board nowadays, better get back to my rocker on the porch...
And now we do.
What a ghoulish photograph of him in the article. He looks like he's at death's door.
I'm amazed no one's made a Cyndi Lauper joke yet.
LSUFreek could probably make a humorous music video on this topic.
