OT: Chiefs v. Texans NFL opening night

How mad are bears fans watching this game
September 10th, 2020 at 10:25 PM ^
Very. Could have traded down and still grab either of those QB's.
September 11th, 2020 at 1:11 AM ^
As a Bears fan, it hurts. However, even had the Bears drafted either one of them, they would have somehow screwed it up with bad management, bad coaching and/or bad personnel decisions. At least the Bears will always have the 85 season.
September 11th, 2020 at 7:28 AM ^
Lions and Tigers and Bears, oh my!
September 10th, 2020 at 9:43 PM ^
Weird to see Chad Henne still in the league.
September 10th, 2020 at 9:47 PM ^
Over 710k per a start in his career. Good for him!
September 10th, 2020 at 9:48 PM ^
...but a good "weird".
September 10th, 2020 at 9:44 PM ^
I’m kinda half-assedly watching. One observation, the crowd sounds good. IDK if the noise is being altered, but it sounds loud.
September 10th, 2020 at 10:17 PM ^
The announcers claimed it is real and not enhanced
September 11th, 2020 at 10:02 AM ^
Which you can bank on...every time some says it's not enhanced, it is!
September 10th, 2020 at 9:51 PM ^
Mahomes is still good at sports.
September 10th, 2020 at 9:53 PM ^
Even more football. No Covid.
September 10th, 2020 at 11:22 PM ^
Are you expecting players to collapse to the ground, clutching their heart? What do you think the odds are that a not single NFL game gets canceled this year because of COVID? 1%? Less?
September 11th, 2020 at 8:31 AM ^
TIL: all illnesses are onset immediately, and are visible from a sky-cam.
September 11th, 2020 at 8:49 AM ^
It's amazing what 4k can pick up.
September 10th, 2020 at 9:54 PM ^
I'm in a fantasy league and I barely realized there was a game today. Seems...fine. Looks sort of like what a preseason game in that the teams are a little sloppy, but ah well.
September 10th, 2020 at 11:02 PM ^
Sloppy? You obviously haven't watched any of the game. Despite the misty rain it has been pretty clean.
September 11th, 2020 at 9:24 AM ^
True. But the first game of the season usually has a few gaffes. These two teams seem pretty well-prepared though.
September 10th, 2020 at 10:22 PM ^
I'm pretty pleased with the product. Yeah, its a little weird when they pan into the stands but other than that it feels like it should.
September 10th, 2020 at 10:35 PM ^
I can’t complain.
September 10th, 2020 at 10:25 PM ^
A group of majority white fans in a stadium in the country handling covid the worst in the modern world, doing an offensive chant that makes a mockery of the indigenous population that was the subject of a genocide, booing a majority of black players calling attention to racism AFTER the anthem is a pretty perfect encapsulation of where we are as a country.
But yes football is happening. Yay.
September 10th, 2020 at 10:43 PM ^
Lmao it’s crazy idk how you boo a stance for unity?
like what.
Missouri gonna Missouri I guess.
September 10th, 2020 at 11:03 PM ^
You mean Kansas gonna Kansas?
September 10th, 2020 at 11:08 PM ^
Not really. The entire Chiefs organization (and Royals) are based in Missouri. In fact, the majority of KC residents and land mass is in MO, not KS. The two states are divided by a single road, “State Line Road.”
September 11th, 2020 at 12:31 AM ^
Your joke flew over a lot of heads, but I'm with you, Yo.
September 11th, 2020 at 6:51 AM ^
I laughed.
September 11th, 2020 at 9:04 AM ^
Disrespecting the flag the nation the fans and the Military who DIED so they can be disrespectful towards the flag is hardly UNITY
September 11th, 2020 at 9:44 AM ^
I, and many other veterans, take no offense to this protest, because we know it isn't about anything you just stated. That you still don't get it says more about your willful ignorance than their malice.
September 11th, 2020 at 9:47 AM ^
Hey, leave your critique of Trump for another day. This is a football board!
September 10th, 2020 at 10:46 PM ^
I wasn’t sure, but that was booing during the stand for freedom and equality? How does anybody boo that? Imagine how it would feel when standing up for a moment of silence for unity and equality and people boo you. That sucks. They should have walked out. “No game for a bunch of ah racists.”
September 10th, 2020 at 11:10 PM ^
Imagine how it would feel getting neg'd for unity and equality.
September 10th, 2020 at 11:52 PM ^
Yah, that too! SMH.
Reminds me of a current friend who told me growing up he was the only black kid on the swim team in his nice suburban town. At age 10 all the parents in the stands booed him when he won his first race. Imagine how that feels.
I could care less about a few downvotes from that ilk.
September 10th, 2020 at 11:43 PM ^
You have to remember that Missouri was founded as a safe haven for cannibals who wanted to marry their sisters.
September 10th, 2020 at 11:45 PM ^
Would have loved to have seen Mahomes and the chiefs flat out refuse to play after the boos.
Imagine being so butthurt and emotionally compromised over players doing this gesture that you feel compelled to boo. Really shows how backwards so many are.
September 11th, 2020 at 12:24 AM ^
The problem is average everyday people who are having these false narratives shoved down their throats... are simply tired of these lies...
1. Police are out to get black people
and
2. Systemic racism exists because of evil white people
These MOSTLY are not backwards people or hateful people. They are just tired of the lies.
September 11th, 2020 at 12:48 AM ^
You don’t create false narratives from ignorance. The problem is not the racists, they wont change. And the problem is certainly not the players or marchers asking to matter and asking for the support of their country. The problem is all the people who make excuses, can’t face the truth, turn the the other cheek, and refuse to speak up in the face of injustice. That silence is not only complicit but weak. They deserve better. Much better.
Human rights and compassion is more important than a game. And it’s certainly more important than your ability to enjoy your beer in front of the TV ... in ignorance.
September 11th, 2020 at 9:25 AM ^
So, Mr. BoFan, does it trouble you that the NBA doesn't appear concerned with the Human rights of Hong Kong? Or Muslims in China? I would think, given your post, that you would be very vocal in the face of this injustice?
That was tongue in check. What can any of us do to stop injustice in China/The NBA/The Police department? The only thing one can do is utilize free speech and let 320 million opinions emerge. Most will be terrible. Some will be racist. Some will be insane. Mine will be great (i joke, but seriously, everyone is entitled to my opinion, I joke). That is the cure for injustice. Speech and the defense of others' right to free speech. Make all the counter points you want, and question my intelligence all you want, but I see clear flaws in your post above. (and there are many in mine, i'm sure).
God Bless and Go Blue
September 11th, 2020 at 2:29 PM ^
RedRum, or Jack, you didn’t respond to any plea or idea I put forth. Your first paragraph and other posts are basically the equivalent of an infamous line in 2016 whenever a new scandal came up: “but what about her emails”.
September 11th, 2020 at 3:48 PM ^
Nothing I said has anything to do with the 2016 election. The point that i'm trying, and, perhaps, failing to make is that this isn't a zero-sum power game. There are an infinite number of dimensions upon which one can gain competence. String 2-3 together and that individual will have a strong opportunity to do well, without harming another's opportunity to succeed. There are those that want to make this a binary power struggle and I think that is sad and silly. I wish you well and good day.
September 11th, 2020 at 7:42 AM ^
I award very few down votes but, here, I would give you a billion if I could. The "lies" you speak of are all in your little head. And you are likely the one who negged BoFan's excellent comment, below. Good luck with contributing to making America great again.
September 11th, 2020 at 11:30 AM ^
Eat a dick.
September 11th, 2020 at 10:09 AM ^
After that almost identical team just won them their first SuperBowl in 50 years too...
September 11th, 2020 at 12:57 AM ^
Are we surprised that the kind of people who will attend an NFL game in the middle of a pandemic are also the kind of people who will boo during a show of unity???
September 11th, 2020 at 7:17 AM ^
I imagine word of this gets around to other players. Wonder if they are talking about if something similar to this happens at their games, they walk.
September 10th, 2020 at 11:56 PM ^
So you play separate National Anthems for separate races and then you want unity?
Give us all a break. This 'movement' to try to segregate is toxic, identity politics is toxic.... but it's actually working sadly.
Keep it up if you want more division in our country.
September 11th, 2020 at 8:07 AM ^
We already had time for unity. It was the national anthem and they fucked that up. A bunch of over paid rapists can shove it up their ass
September 11th, 2020 at 11:33 AM ^
You can eat a dick too.
September 11th, 2020 at 6:13 AM ^
The booing shows what we all already knew. It was never about 'disrespecting the anthem'. It was about disrespecting peoples fragile egos
September 11th, 2020 at 9:33 AM ^
This is it. 100 percent. This is what it has always been. It has never been about the troops, its always been based in selfishness. Don't ask anybody who boos to admit it though. They never will.
September 11th, 2020 at 3:25 PM ^
You can't have two national anthems and then ask for unity.
Not sure why this is hard to understand.
And disrespecting the flag, disrespecting the anthem is deeply offensive to a lot of people.
Not sure why that is hard to understand either.
It seems as though quite a lot of people don't understand US history or world history for that matter. Where we came from and where we are now is a bloody miracle. Mistakes, and some terrible things also happened along the way. So those of us alive today living in the best of times overall, should be thankful for all those who fought and died so we can be free to do all the things we get to do today. Like make millions of dollars to play a game.
