OT: Baylor hires Jim Grobe as Interim Head Coach

Looking at this dude's record... yikes. His Wake Forest teams got worse every year, before he randomly won the ACC (how) and then following that his teams kept on deteriorating again. I guess he has a rep of being a good guy with no scandals, but it seems to me like Baylor just basically hired Brady Hoke if Brady Hoke was at Michigan for like 14 years.

But they still aren't going to fire the rest of the staff that was just as involved in the horrible shit as Briles.

Who root for a team that has had 4 coaches in 8 years is talking about what a good and bad hire is. I don't know what's more pathetic. Michigan fans thinking they have any idea what a good coach is, or them being dumb enough to think their 4th in 8 years is worth a shit. Either way the joke is on them

That forgets to mention his schools coaches and admin. are just like Baylors in helping cover up Rape.

Don't be mad that Tressel whipped your ass for 10 years. And it wasn't those tattoos that made it happen, it was that Michigan football ain't shit. Still isn't. cry baby

They hired a guy that had no other options. Nobody with options would willingly walk into that shit storm and simply promoting from within the current staff isn't an option. To be honest I can't believe they haven't let the entire staff go yet.

Would you just go to Wordpress and start your own blog? You make 17 comments on every single topic, main page, diary, or board.

Hell, you don't have to write fantastic content, just make your gozillion little points on your own blog. You are poisoning this blog with your every little comment on every god damned post. If you love Michigan as much as you claim, make your own weblog. It's fucking free. If you think it so important that we all know every single one of your thoughts on every topic Michigan, you should have no problem developing a following. We come here to read Brian's and Seth's writing, as well as that of other contributors. We then discuss it as a community such that each comment should be adding value to the discussion. You don't. You just spew. Make your own blog. Call it mgospew.com, I don't care. If you didn't get a point for every post, you'd probably be in the negative point range.

JUST STOP POSTING EVERY 2 MINUTES!

But I'm not a writer for the site......

You can still read their stuff without seeing my comments. Just don't scroll down to the comments. Or ignore me.

It'll be fine. I promise. :)

Those who take it upon themselves to tear you down need to take a serious look in the mirror. One would think in this day and age people would know to ignore the opinions they don't like...

Thirded. Kid loves UM. How is this bad? And do people realize that reading the comments isn't a necessary part of this blog?

"We then discuss it as a community such that each comment should be adding value to the discussion." -- WD adds more value than most of us who just post pics or sarcastic shit.

1) Nobody is forcing you to read WDs comments, you could see his avatar and gladly skip over the post. This is like the douchers that comment on soccer posts with some rendition of "soccer is lame, this is America, why is this on the blog". Nobody forced you to read, click on, or comment on said post.

2) Its pretty pathetic you could get this worked up over another commentors posts.

Long time reader here.

WD? I know who he is. He posts a lot, sure. But he also has been around awhile, has posted all kinds of content, and is a valuable part of the MGoCommunity. Clearly Brian and Seth don't have too much of a problem with him, or they'd have booted him eons ago like they have so many others. Oh and there's the whole Dave Brandon thing. Which, you know, helped ALL OF US.

And then there's you, Gremlin. Never heard of you. Never read anything of any value you've ever posted. I can only remember one other post of yours...and it was you taking shots at WD. Huh. Funny how that works. Must be the new way to make your bones around here, by taking on WD.

Here's an idea: If you don't like the stuff WD posts, don't read it. Or, even better, find a new blog. Something tells me no one will notice you're gone.

Never heard of you, nor read anything of value you've ever posted.

Don't think anyone will notice if you (or any of us individually) are gone unless it's the paid contributors.

WD is recognized b/c he posts a ton and calls a lot of attention to himself, on purpose mind you.

And as far as him "outing," that would've happened with or without WD ever existing b/c DB did that to a lot of folks.

But his comments don't exist in a vacuum b/c this is a discussion. Ever been in a class where one know-it-all is always raising his hand and commanding the teacher's time and attention? That's what we have here.

Grobe is a placeholder and modified scapegoat for the next year of sucktitude.  They will hire the person they feel can build the program "the right way" at the end of the season when better coaches are available.

I really thought they would hire Mack Brown to do this, but Brown probably wanted the job on a "permanent" basis.

Exactly. Baylor isn't a marquis program. It's a mid level big12 team that has had some good years due to a good football coach (I don't mean morally) who bent a lot of rules and looked the other way a bunch to make them very good. Case in point, before Briles, their last top 25 finish was in 1986. Coincidentally this corresponds with the departures of half of the Big12 including Nebraska and Texas A&M and downfall of Texas. Add on the coming NCAA punishment, AD and president change and player exodus and they're lucky to get a coach anyone has heard of before. Hell, I'm guessing even Greg Schiano turned them down.

I will admit that I watched this game from the 3rd quarter or so onwards because I wanted to be there to witness the moment that Beamerball transcended the need to score points which could be expressed in positive integers. It was not nearly as fascinating or eventful as I had imagined it would be, of course, but I did watch.

"Looking at that dude's record...yikes."

That was my exact thought when Nebraska hired Mike Riley. I'm still waiting for the punchline...or for somebody to tell the rest of the world that they've been punked...or something. I still don't get it.
