Big Mike Onwenu will be making his decision LIVE on the CityballersPodcast Show 2/2 at 8pm EST @OldMoneyMGT

So are we to assume he is not committed to UM?

I refuse to believe that Detroit coaches are steering kids away from Michigan.  Did you see how much MSU embarassed Detroit and the state in the Bama game?  It laid bare that MSU's best teams are still 6 touchdowns away from top level.  Michigan has the ability to go much higher.  Detroit coaches realize this.

Say what you will about OSU but they do not embarass the Big 10.

At this point, you can choose the good guys and make the right decision, or you can choose anyone else.  If you choose MSU, you're electing to have an inferiority complex and be a half-witted mouth-breather.

Just want it to be over and done with.

Unless there is a surprise school out there that no one knows about, he's not ending up at State.

He's on record saying he didn't have a strong connection with Dantonio and the staff.

I'm going out on a limb and saying there is a 0.1% chance he ends up elsewhere and that's just cause crootin'.

No idea if he is staying or going but the fact he is even considering another school after being true blue is some realistic fallout from the Weaver / Swenson situations.  From the horse's mouth:

But Onwenu is keeping his options open since Jim Harbaugh has told other committed recruits, such as Florida defensive end Rashad Weaver, that there might not be room for them, after all, on Michigan’s roster.

National Signing Day is just one week away, on Feb. 3.

“They haven’t said anything like that to me (that his scholarship was in jeopardy), but things happen and that’s in the back of my mind, the reason I’m taking visits,” Onwenu told The Detroit News on Tuesday.

In addition to the Weaver case, Onwenu said he’s also followed the situation regarding Illinois offensive lineman Erik Swenson, who had been committed to Michigan since 2013 but last week said Harbaugh pulled his scholarship offer.

turn out to be correct on this.

But are any of Alabama's highest level commits waivering because Saban withdrew an offer of a commit 4 days before signing day?

It seems that the Swenson and Weaver thing happened, and thereafter Sam Webb suggested that Onwenu was still solid.  So what happened today or yesterday to make Onwenu waiver?

We'll know tomorrow, I guess.

He could totally be correct, and the article says so. If it was Urban who was pulling multiple schollies 1 month before signing day, would a recruit want to play for a coach like that.

If you take your maize and blue glasses off you may be able to judge correctly.

one way or another.  Most of the facts are not public.  But it is likely that Michigan's staff has shared a lot more of the Swenson/Weaver situations with commits, and that those commits understand (1) that their LOI's will be welcomed becasue they played hard through their senior seasons, and (2) that they should expect to compete and excel every day because that is the culture JH is building.

Gotta look at both sides of the ledger.  Sure the negative media publicity is a downside (which hopefully JH will avoid in the future by dealing with Swenson situations no later than Dec. 1).  But there is also a downside to taking Swenson when it looks like he does not fit the culture JH wants to build.

Even if a guy has a ton of raw talent, JH is going to treat all the same, and is not going to risk having anyone think that they are exempt or a special case.

The B. Cole situation shows this.  Cole had the potential to be a big fdifference maker on the field (likely starter in 2017).  Lots of other coaches would have given him more chances to get it together (maybe suspend hm with some way to get back on the team), but JH dismissed him.

That might end up being a depth problem at safety in 2017.  On the other hand, there is an upside to treating stars and walk-ons with the same set of rules, and to keeping guys that could erode the culture out of the locker room.

Onwenu is not going to get his scholly pulled 2 days before NSD. End of story. Harbaugh and the entire staff want him in the class.

I think he's letting his mind run away with negative recruiting brought on by Sparty. Desperation hail mary is seems.

Whatever someone thinks about Harbaugh's recruiting process or tactics, I think you have to be extremely naive to believe that other kids haven't taken notice. Regardless of the reasons, a kid that was committed for two years and gets his offer yanked weeks before signing day looks bad. Recruits that have committed and there hasn't been much contact from the staff and are told late in the process that their status has changed in a bad look.

For all the PR-focused stuff Jimmy is doing, he should be keenly aware of that.

Even if it's having an effect, the only reason is because assholes like you fed into and magnified the media frenzy while possessing virtually no information on the situation.  You and others are the reason why Alabama gets away with this stuff and Michigan doesn't.

Do you really believe that recruits and the general public form opinions based upon what people who post on this message board believe, or that the media generates stories/columns from posts on this board??

News flash: Most people who attend football games at The Big House know nothing about what is posted here and could care less.

Right on cue.  I genuinely don't understand your motive for continuing to post this argument every time we get recruiting news.  Either you're so insecure that you desperately need to convince people of this, or you just enjoy prolonging negative press againt Michigan.  Whatever the reason, it's self-serving, it's embarrassing, and you should stop.

Well I don't recall Harbaugh coming to Detroit to recruit a kid.  He always send Wheatley.  Well he did go to U of D but should have stopped by Cass Tech and King also just to take some pictures with Hill and Owenu.

Seems like he just agreed to go on a show to announce his decision to attend UM. He just took an official to MSU. There's been no positive buzz about that trip, but it was an official. For the purposes of the show he's down to 2, but not really [wink-wink, nudge-nudge]. Try not to act like such whiny baby-men over recruiting. It doesn't become us. DON'T PANIC!

So, we no longer respect CBs. No change on that front. Zero ballz for MSU. Not one fucking ball.  Oh, and the only ball put in today for Gary was blue. I am still sane.  Just barely.

Announcing after your already committed usually means one thing. If he set an annoucement date to re-announce he was going to Michigan its like telling people your getting married after the wedding invitations went out.

If we do lose Onwenu and don't land Hill, Jimmy has to take a long hard look at his approach to in-state recruiting.
