I ruptured both of my Achilles - one when I was 20 at UM (IM Basketball) and the other at 30 (flag football in Central Park). Recovery was slow back then, but with professional sports supervision it is much better now. If it was a complete rupture then I think he might lose a step... a partial rupture can be close to 100% healed.
He's a really good kid so we all are pulling for him.

Mother of god this is terrible news - he could fall, what outside the top 5 rounds now? Anybody have any insight into how this could affect his stock? Jesus H.

Given it's March he will probably miss the season depending on the grade of the tear or rupture, and will probably drop considerably if that is what he has. Recovery is a long process based off my experience of achilles troubles. Given the physical demands placed on NFL players, this is not good for him.

What an amazing attitude. The news is about as bad as it could be and he appears to be remaining positive. An incredible young man. Hopefully it’s not ruptured.

is it possible for him to 'undeclare', rehab, play for us this season and have a 'do over' next spring?  complete recovery can take a year though.  hard providence no matter what happens.

Oh man, that's tough. Does it make sense to get drafted later now? Or train and try next year to get picked high again. Such awful timing. Hope he takes the time to get it fully healthy

As bad as the Lions have been for well...60 years there does seem to be some positivity and a good culture being built whereas from the first game under Patricia you knew it was going to be a multi year diaster. Holmes has already made some pretty decent picks and signings.

Wishing him a full and expeditious recovery, and I am sure we will see him on Sundays all the same at some point. He's far too awesome a player not to be seen on Sundays.

My upvote of this OP is for David's tweet, not the injury (probably obvious, but worth mentioning...).

This is shitty news for the man, just horrible.  I'd rather he'd have broken a bone...  But medical science is awesome, so hopefully he'll fully recover quickly and get back at it for next year.  I hope teams understand this better than we do, and he doesn't drop too far.

Also crappy news to start this day of Michigan sports...  Today, we have mens and womens bball, hockey, and I believe some wrastlin' still going on.  Probably some lacrosse, baseball, and softball, too, if you look close enough!

Tough break for him but still sounds like NFL teams think highly of him and ACL recovery is far better than in years past.

Probably lose a round or two but will hopefully get a year to recover and come back strong.

This is probably another injury from turf. It's an unnatural surface for sports, especially with so much force generated from someone with legs as strong as Ojabo's. Being pro day, his adrenaline was probably peg out, he probably wanted to have his best explosion off the line. I don't know what exercise strengthen the achilles. It's a weak link.

I hope he still gets drafted high.

If the Lions accept that they are still in rebuild mode (and I believe they do accept that), AND if they take Hamilton at #2, then they should take Ojabo at 32 or 34.  Let him heal, and then unleash him in ‘23.

Ooof. I recently(ish) tore my Achilles, had surgery, and 1 year of rehab.

Good news is that if you follow all the rehab to a T, which of course he will, the tendon is way stronger in the end.

Read he will likely make a full recovery in six months.  If true that is great news and not a full rupture.  May or may not affect his draft position!  Hopefully he’s a first round pick!!!  No matter what, he is going to be fine just a bump in the road!
