While I'd love to see Hackett stay, I really think he's set on family and business from all I've heard/read. I can't fault a guy for leaving to be with family when he's worked hard his entire life and has been looking forward to that retirement. If he decides to stay on, of course I won't complain. I just won't get my hopes up.

Loves Michigan, great coach and stepping up when we need him... great guy.

... plus, can you imagine the shades he will roll while in Orange County?

Matti, you the best.

Trivia - "the Waterboy" Bobby Boucher (Sandler) was filmed at the Citrus Bowl.

Didn't want to make a separate post about it, but (for those who are interested) Michigan opened up as a 3.5 point favorite against Fla. I was a little surprised with the game in their state and the status of Rudddddddock in question. I like it!

I thought I had heard that he was more than likely playing in the bowl game, between the nature of the injury and the fact that it was not his throwing arm, but I could very well have missed some other news. If indeed he's a go for the game, I definitely like our chances against the Gators though based on that alone, not to mention other factors.

The bigger reason is that by naming Mattison instead of Jackson, it pretty much implies that we're hiring someone new for the spot and not promoting from within the current staff.

Someone made the point earlier, I'm just parroting, but I agree with the logic.

I think Harbaugh is going to swing for the fences on this hire because he knows if he strikes out on the NFL guys (or whoever his dream candidates are) he is comfortable leaving the staff the way it is for an entire season and trying again next year. Mattison likely retires after next year anyway.

Who would be your best example of someone who knows how to stop a spread? I'm really curious because by that criteria the first guy that comes into mind is Chavis. LSU is the only team I've seen that consistently puts spread O's away with utmost efficiency. Their O then proceeds to lay an egg and they lose sometimes but nobody scores 58 on a LSU D. Who else can you say that about?

How does a redshirt for season 2015 work as far as Mone is concerned particularly related to the timing of this game and indeed to freshman who have not burned their redshirts. Given that this game is in 2016, can Mone or any other the freshman who did not play in calendar year 2015,  play on January 1, 2016 and not have it counted against them as having played in 2015, or is a season defined as the regularly scheduled season plus any post season games regardless of the date of the game?

My guess is that it cannot be done as what would happen during their last year of eligibility if we were in a bowl game Januar 1 or beyond.

Play press coverage. I hope we don't see 10-15 yard cushions on receivers that seemed to be the norm under Mattison.

As long as Mattison doesn't get the full time gig I'm good. Harbaugh would be stupid to let Mattison take over as DC full time again.
