NJ Newspaper Posbangs Jabrill For Staying at Michigan

Submitted by MLaw06 on

Jabrill was the feature of a positive article from the leading newspaper in northern NJ (which has a fair amount of elite HS talent, including from powerhouses Paramus Catholic and Don Bosco Prep).  The gist of the article is that Jabrill remained loyal to Michigan and now he is reaping the rewards of being coached by Coach Harbaugh.

From what I’ve heard, Peppers never considered transferring from Michigan, and now he looks like a genius because former San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh took over the vacant position and immediately made Michigan the talk of the college football world.

...

We all knew Peppers could handle the spotlight of winning; he’s got four football state championships, four Tournament of Champions track titles and a storage room full of awards to prove it.

What we didn’t know was how Peppers would handle adversity. Would he run from it? Or would he stand firm and accept the challenge?

He chose the latter, never wavered in that belief, and now he can reap the rewards while all the bandwagon jumpers scramble to get back on the ride.

In addition, there is some general advice to prospective D-I athletes:

Choose the school, not the coach.

It seems like an obvious and straightforward piece of advice, one virtually every athlete and sports fan has heard at some point in their life.

Coaches come and go. The school is forever.

Here's to Peppers getting rewarded for his faith. I hope to see him returning a couple punts to the house next year, and trucking some WR fools who think they can stack up with him.

Just playing devils advocate here.  I'm assuming that you consider Michianman20's comment to be "stone aged" because condemning a woman for exercising her freedom of sexuality is misogynist..or something like that right?    Is your avatar not also misogynist or display a "stone-aged" conception of women -  i.e. as a purely sexual object?

LOL? Taking the bait? You called her a disgrace to your heritage and now you're trying to pawn it off as in some kind of joke? There's been a lot of dumbasses on this site lately, & you sir, are the biggest. I'll leave it at that.

Reminds me of that story a couple months ago about the freshman Notre Dame football player dating the porn star "Lisa Ann."

According to her Wikipedia page, this girl is quite the seasoned veteran - 42 years old and 499(!) adult film performances. I mean, more power to the ND kid...but damn.

Coaches come and go. The school is forever.

I rather like that line honestly, because I have always wondered about situations where it seemed like the draw was to the coach and not the school per se. That's not Peppers' situation, of course, but it seems like this happens from time to time with other recruits and I find the phenomenon intrguing, possibly because it seems odd to me to commit to something so transient like a coach.

What should he have done ... committed to Uncle Fester then commit to 'bama.  Or  decommit then commit to ohio.  That s not MICHIGAN blood ... thats its all abouts me blood.  Names withheld to protect them ...

I'm glad he's staying and I love the kids potential... But I don't think he should be praised for honoring his commitment. Coaches get ripped apart all the time for pulling offers, asking for gray shirts, over signing or not honoring their end of the bargain in some form or fashion. Yes, coaches get paid millions and should be held to a higher standard, but I don't think its wrong to expect a young man to stick with it unless there's extenuating circumstances. And no, hiring a BETTER coach while retaining a member, or members of the previous staff to help with the transition isn't one of those circumstances. Family, health, career altering decisions like forced position changes or playing time cut to none... Those are reasons to transfer.

more from this new staff than anyone else on the team (except maybe the QBs, since they seemed to be so neglected). He strikes me as the type who wants to excell and is anxious to be coached up and pushed to the limit. I expect him to explode.

I told the blog months and months ago that Breezy wasnt leaving. Even told the true story of a "turnt up" Jabrill pounding his chest and stating, " leave?? Where am I gonna go, I got this shit tatted on me"! Still got no love.
