NFL Draft Thread

The Giants have two early picks and Dave Gettleman is picking neither. That feels good. Looking forward to seeing where Hutch goes. Lions fans...love you folks. Good luck! Fuck the Cowboys. The Jets can kiss my ass.

On one hand, I want Hutch to go #1 overall so Michigan football can have that feather in its cap. On the other hand, I'd love to see him in a Lions uniform.

Normally I agree but his family, who he seems very close with, is here in Metro Detroit. It's not a bad setup for a rookie to find his feet in the NFL. He can always go somewhere else as a free agent to chase a ring later (probably whatever team immortal Tom Brady is playing for).

I really don't think this guy will be better than Hutchinson. It's not even like he's a freak of nature and that's the difference Hutchinson is pretty fucking athletic.

I'm scared of Hutchinson being cursed by the Lions. (I'm not a Lions fan so I don't have the love for them like many on this blog)

In defense of the Lions (sort of)….the Lions have arguably been very successful in the past 30 or so years with high draft picks (yes I know the busts of Charles Rogers, and wasn’t it both Mike Williams’?) but, they also have drafted Barry Sanders, Herman Moore, Calvin Johnson, Matthew Stafford, Suh…..2 of those guys are HOFers, while the other 3 either have a case to be in, or certainly will once they are eligible. The Lions have also drafted some good O linemen in these years. The lions problem is not that they don’t find talent, or curse people into bad careers, it’s that they never seem to get the right personnel around their best players even if they are putting together a HOF type career in numbers.

I think Hutchinson will put up big numbers, and I think he sort of has the motor similar to that of the Watt brothers, who like him are physically gifted, but they have a knack to be around the ball like no other. I look for him to have that type of career where he just wrecks havoc with his motor and knack for getting to the ball. I just hope the Lions can make his career memorable by putting together some playoff bound teams that also win games in the playoffs. Hutchinson might actually have the leadership skills to put the team on his back like he did these Wolverines, and also he loves all things Michigan. I feel like it’s a great fit all things considered.
