New Michigan FB Offer - Amauri Pesek-Hickson

Submitted by Prince_of_Nachos on October 30th, 2018 at 3:35 PM

Amauri is a 2019 recruit: 6’3”, 210 lbs athlete out of Kansas City metro area. Was focusing on basketball until this year (and had several offers), but switched back to football for his senior year.

If you thought Ronnie Bell was a good pick up, well this guy looks like Khaleke Hudson (but tall).

Am I the only one who actually wasn't super impressed by that highlight film? He seems fast in a straight line, but not very shifty. I definitely wouldn't throw out any Khaleke Hudson comparisons. I'd imagine the staff (who obviously know a lot more about football/recruiting than I do) is looking at Pesek-Hickson as a LB? Maybe a FB?

He's got good hands (judging from how many catches he made in the 1 playoff game so far), and he is shifty in space, to a certain extent. From the gun he made a couple of 40 yard gains as a RB so I don't know why he doesn't have potential as an athlete.

24/7 doesn't have anything on him which I'm fine with, because Ronnie Bell was a steal.

Also his Hudl say he's 220 so there's that.

I'd guess he ends up at fullback or some similar role. Looks good in that role and a good find.

I think a guy like Ben Mason who is nearly automatic on short yardage situations is undervalued a bit in recruiting rankings given how crucial those plays are from a win expectancy standpoint. It seems like a market inefficiency.

Can't tell if he is slow, or just a very patient runner.  He makes lot of people miss.  Nice instincts.

Would be a very shifty fullback.  That would be fun.

I like this kid a lot actually, but I can't really decide where his best fit is. I think he's too big for Viper, but I think he could be a RB or big body, possession WR potentially. His running style does kinda remind me of Zach Charbonnet, but less twitchy, where he's not super fast, but runs with good acceleration and strength

Film seems to be receiver focused, could he end up being the tall receiver that the coaches still need to find in this class?  Has a basketball background so he knows body control, just a thought.

Although fullback/H-back does seem more likely.

All the split zone and arc action lends itself to H-back types.

McKeon has been filling that role with Mason limited and I'd expect they're also setting up film for some easy catches there. Still not a true H looking guy on the roster other than VanSumeren.

All this speculation...speculate away. The kid is a very nice athlete. Michigan is at the place where they can bring in a player like this, assess his skills as a red shirt and place them in a position to succeed. Michigan is doing this with a whole bunch of kids right now-in the freshmen class and beyond. He can be anything from an H-back/power RB/FB to WR to viper, LB, safety...to be determined. He doesn't seem to shy away from contact-so it would appear as though all the options are on the table.

I think he plays LB. Perhaps not quite fast enough to play S or WR but nice speed and agility for a linebacker. He's clearly big enough, and Michigan could really use another LB recruit after only taking one last year and only having one commitment so far this year.
