2017 is a very dicey year for OSU in recruiting. They will have a very small class. Extremely high in quality, but they don't have room for everyone who wants to go there, and for everyone who they want to bring in. They will not be at the top, because of the low number coming in. They also are in kind of a high stakes situation, and playing with fire. Do they grey shirt or release someone currently committed in order to take someone more highly ranked? What do they do if highly ranked guys want to commit late?

Todd Sibley, ranked 165 on the ESPN 300, is committed to OSU. Or he WAS committed. OSU has asked him to take a grey shirt, because they are trying to get Najee Harris (currently number 2 on the 300, currently committed to 'Bama). Sibley will probably NOT go to OSU. This could leave OSU holding the bag. Like I said, this is high stakes recruiting.

Steel sharpens steel.  A healthy B1G will make a healthy Michigan. We are past the days where conference championships and a bowl wins mean something great.  We need good conference sparring partners and a tall measuring stick  Only then will the non-conf Bamas and Clemsons be no problem for us.

When you are a program like UM, you should be able to close the gap in recruriting almost immediately if you are doing things right. Hoke did it seemingly overnight without any name recognition. I have little doubt that Harbaugh could do it if his recruiting focus was different.

Unlike Myer, Harbaugh lacks focus when it comes to recruiting. He is all over the board and is too eager to take lower ranked recruits early in the recruiting cycle. Myer's apprach is to focus on top tier guys early and work your way down the priority list. And that is why the classes look like they do.

Based on his Hudl tape, O'Maury Samuels seems to be a bit low at #222.  Of course, I will never be confused with a knowledgeable football scout, let alone a coach.  Maybe I'll just get back to eating my Krispy Kreme donut...

looks great,  but from other reviews the competition isn't so good.  He looks amazing, but from other analysis there are questions about his ability to perform against top-tier talent.

(Other people think that, but I don't.)

New Mexico currently has 4 players in the NFL. The only states with fewer are Maine, Vermont, North Dakota, South Dakota, Alaska, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Wyoming.

Samuels rating could and probably is due to the fact you point out about New Mexico NFLers?  I am guessing that the kids abilities and great coaching  could help him in the future be #5.  Or number #6 if Gentry is turned into a TE monster?

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Jeremiah Holloman at #77 (#11 WR). There's plenty of time to get a good replacement, but his decommitment still hurts. Ace was prophetic in his Hello post.

While Holloman is either a three-star or unranked on the recruiting services, his tape suggests he's an early steal for the Wolverines; there's four-star potential here.

Edit: I got Snake Oil Steve'd on my comment. Guess I should refresh more often!
