Jake Moody is the most money kicker that we’ve had in 20 years. It hasn’t been since I was in high school that I could remember when a kicker lined up that you could almost count it as three.

I stopped wearing sports jerseys in my early 20s but I would gladly wear a Moody jersey LOL

Blake taking kicks out is a calculated risk. The opportunities for returns are relatively few; getting a guy like Blake in the open field is hard to pass up.

I think that the decision to run is coached and they're ok with risking a couple of yards for the very real chance that he'll provide a real plus play.

AJ's fielding of that punt was disastrous and almost catastrophic. There's a reason that coaches are careful about who fields punts, and while AJ is good, he's still pretty new at it.

Yes? Prior to this game he had 6 returns averaging 31 yards a pop, with a long of 79.

If the coaches want him to let it go or fair catch, he'll let it go. But there's a reason teams usually just tell their kicker to boom the ball out the back of the end zone, and that's because speedy returners in the open field can change the game. You can ask Alabama about how that turns out.

Fun fact: on his 32 "other" punt returns in 1997, Charles Woodson averaged 6 yards per return and gained a total of 206 yards. But on that one return, he gained 77 yards and won the Ohio State game, the Heisman Trophy, and eventually the national title.

You don't roll 5s and 6s if you never roll the dice at all.

Moody from 60+: Agree!  Didn't he have 2 kickoffs in the 4th that went through the uprights and into or almost into the stands?  That's 80+ yards and I know kickoffs and field goal distance isn't the same but dude is not just accurate he's got elite NFL length for sure.

Best kicking game in the history of Michigan football.  Moody has been fucking money on FGs, and no returns are possible when he blasts the ball out of the end zone.  Robbins is a stud, and changes field position for us.  Unreal...

Our ST's are amazing this year, and absolutely won the game tonight.

Moody is nothing short of fantastic - looks like an NFL kicker out there. His stroke is so pure.

I love kickoffs that go out of the end zone. I love punts that hit and somehow just stop.

Beautifully done. Once again, the strength of this team!

SPecial teams kicking is the MVP, expecially Moody.

SPecial teams returning kicks/punts was oddly terrible tonight. Almost a game-changing turnover on a muffed punt. Returns consistently bottled up before the 20 yard line. Not a great effort.

Henning is a good returner but had a bad day. Ran one punt return backwards, and muffed an other.

Meanwhile, Moody needs to get some recognition on "You're the man now, dog"

Tight games like that the Special teams are going to be the  x factor.

No one will mention it, but the center snap and holds are huge to the kicker's rhythm.  Pressure situations like that they came through huge.

Brad Robbins did a great job with over a 50 yard average.

We arguably have the best special teams in the nation.

Jake Moody gets another A+. Almost muffed a punt that would have lost our guys the game. Kickoff and punt returns were not as good as previous games but our guys did better then theirs.

Jake Moody won the game for us and I'll take it!

If there's a better kicker/punter combination if CFB I'd like to seem them. Very integral part in this win. Not our best effort on the returns game though in limited opportunities.
