Not to mention the real life tragedies that happened under his watch - the girl who killed herself after alleging rape and receiving threats, and the student who was killed while filming practice and the team *continued practicing as if nothing happened* But yes you're correct that all the admin did over the years was to scold Kelly for his tantrum caught on video. Like the NFL, and like penn state, they are the ultimate whores when things are going well Like LSU, i expect they'll turn on their highly successful coach when things aren't going well - on the field, in front of the cameras - for the shortest of stretches. FFS, they were a win away from the playoff last year. What i doubt is that Miles will take another job with such absurd expectations

...Kelly's act only works when he  wins, which he has done for years. BUT, should he have a bad year, the knives will come out. Count on that. Anyone I've known who acts in public like a self centered ass is also one in private.  His reservoir of goodwill is running dry.

That said, I can not see Notre Dame going for a retread like Les Miles. His best years are in the past. They have to find the next hot coach. Herman is obviously one but he is likely SEC or Texas bound. Keep an eye on Fleck. 72 miles from K-zoo to South Bend. Notre Dame needs to be bold.

It is a great academic institution with rich and great tradition. It's easy to sell Notre Dame to young kids and parents who think of a good and clean school to send their kids. No where near Thee Mighty Michigan of coarse. That being said, yes they deserved to die this year and I hope they burn in hell.

Any of you hot shot UM alums have any connections to the Lions organization or any NFL team? You'd think one of you could pull some strings and get Meyer in the league and then fire his ass mid season. That would rule. I'd donate to the university then. I promise!

The guy really is a fricking lunatic. I mean, I say the same things but not in public and with television network cameras everywhere. Come-on man!

Edit: If you consider driving in the mornings before work or in rush hour with a bunch of idiots, then actually I'm guilty of being a lunatic too. That's justified though. There are really unlimited people everywhere you go all the time who cant consistently drive descent. Actually they shouldn't ever be on the road. Fargo has the worst and dumbest drivers in North America. Guaran frickin teed! I can't say dumbest overall because our state wide economy is pretty damn stellar or has been for quite some time.

No disrespect to Les, love the guy, but it'd be a mistake for ND to go after Miles if they fire Kelly. They could, frankly, do a lot better and need a younger presence than a 62 year old. It's still an elite job, and they could potentially pique the interest of some high profile candidates thought to be very stable at their current schools (Patterson, Shaw, etc.).

All I can say about that is that Notre Dame apparently likes themselves some Weis-ian clauses when it comes to contracts now, but then it is like having two coaches on staff - in a way - at all times, so I suppose if they look at it as an expensive contingency plan, it seems less shortsighted. Actually, maybe it is moreso, come to think of it.

I've spoken with a few of my ND friends and they were concerned early about his tirades on the sidelines. They knew he was a good coach, but they were concerned about his sideline antics early and I guess the AD had a long talk with him. That is why I think he'll be gone. It was "mutually" understood if this behavior continued or were to return, it would be cause for dismissal. However, there was nothing in the contract so if they want to get rid of him, they will eat a lot more cash.

I think they should grab a devout Catholic with a life long love of ND, one who has a successful track record and honestly considers it his dream job. Their problem is they think, for some reason, every coach thinks its his dream job. They can't just grab the first successful coach after their most wanted turns them down. They have a rich tradition and can actually conduct a search and instead of deciding on one, come up with a list of three, all meeting their standards but, of course, varying as to their level of success. With their recruiting cache, they are one hire away  of returning to the days of Holtz. But damn, I don't know if I've seen another major program make so many mistakes in this regard.

But Shaw isn't looking all that great this year.  ND has kind of been lost in the woods for the past 20 years or so (a few great years mixed in here and there), but they could do A LOT worse than Miles.

He's 62, but he looks and acts 10 years younger.  He could get them back on their feet and retire for good in 7-10 years.  He's certainly a better coach (and human being) than Kelly.

Although if ND is smart they'll include a "you're not allowed to hire Cam Cameron" clause in his contract.

I'm sure Brian Kelly will respond in an even keeled manner and let the player know that he understands but does not respect his social media activities...
