Nauta a Bulldog

Nauta a Bulldog.

Best of luck to the kid.

I don't see this as a huge loss for Michigan. Michigan should be in the running for the best next year, too. In the mean time, the position is faithfully occupied.

UGA TEs

  • 28 receptions
  • 306 yards
  • 1 TD

Michigan TEs

  • 72 receptions
  • 926 yards
  • 3 TDs

Can't wait to hear the quotes that Georgia is really gonna have me be a focus of their offense.

Despite Harbaugh's TE history, I don't think it matters where he goes. A guy of that talent can be a 1st rounder based solely on potential and measurables. It's like Megatron and DT coming from Georgia Tech. It didn't matter what offense they played in.

But he could definitely have improved his game more playing in a Harbaugh offense, no question about it. That could be the difference between bottom first/top second round, and a top 15 pick. That's big money.

Then throw in the fact that the new coaching staff he's going to play for is a bit of an unknown. He made the wrong choice, but he can still do quite well with it.

Its unfortunate that our top TE targets the last two years haven't been more football focused. I'm sure Nauta will be good at Georgia and make it to the NFL barring some sort of injury, but he could have been a star at Michigan. He'll just be alright as a Bulldog.

Oh well.

I should note that by football focused, I'm going on what Clark said last year about his recruitment. That if it was just down to football he would have went to Michigan. I'm sure its similar for Nauta this year. He knows where he fits best, but just wants to stay in Georgia.

You don't know how "football focused" Nauta is. He's the best TE in the country, obviously he's pretty "football focused." You can say that about Clark, perhaps. But Nauta is going to a perennial Top-15 or so program, playing in the SEC. UGA's new OC has actually used the TE position well in his past. And if he is more comfortable there then he is at UM, he will probably focus more and play better there.

No Chris Clark, No Nauta...I'll admit that it stings while everyone else gives half-hearted well wishes about playing in medicore bowls.

The kid was saying earlier in the week that this was a hard decision (or something close to that).  Some people here were optimistically interpreting that to mean that he was coming to Michigan and that it would be tough to disappoint family and friends.  Now it seems clear that it was difficult because he knows Michigan would be a better "career move" for him, but he still wanted to go with his favorite team.  I'm sure many of us have done similar things--I know I have.  I feel like I "should" do one thing because it would be a better move, in theory, but I end up doing what I want to do instead.

Best of luck to him.

My fiancé is a diehard UGa fan so I can't be too upset, especially considering he's been a UGa lean this whole time.

Harbaugh will get him some TEs and they will be glorious, 5 star or not.

It happens when you've been shuffled off to boarding school for a few years.

As far as that Teddy Blanks character predicting Nauta to Michigan, it makes sense to take flyers like that. The upside of hitting even one of those gives you credibility for a long time and instantly jacks up your followers. He'll take some shots today but I'm sure he'll keep pretending to have "sources" and this won't affect him much. People forget the bad predictions. They remember the surprises you got right.

Nauta would have been awesome in Harbaugh's offense.

However, I can't fault him for choosing Georgia.  It's clear that he really missed his family/friends while he was away at IMG this past year.

Best of luck to him.

To anyone who is Mocking Teddy Blanks on Twitter, I see a lot of you, you guys are dang bully's. The kid got something wrong for saying something stupid. Thank god I didn't have Twitter when I was that age. I'd be doing the same thing. Hopefully he learned a lesson, but stop mocking the kid, please.

Nobody is threatening his life or anything of that nature. He jumped out there with info that was completely false and people are ragging on him about it. You can't want all the praise for being right and run from the criticism when your wrong. Hope this is a life lesson for the kid.

Which is annoying and shitty. But to reiterate the idea being MgoJohnStamos's comment: kids/teenagers doing dumb shit for attention and to feel valued is nothing new. Unfortunately, kids his age have to learn the consequences of these things at a much younnger age due to technology the consequences of which many of them could never understand-- and that we can't either.

But lets not pretend it was one sided. A bunch of grown adults fawned all over him and encouraged him either directly or indirectly. If those grown adults are now let down, they got what was coming to them too. And this doesn't excuse berating a kid on the internet.
