My deep and abiding loathing of The Michigan Agricultural College

The green of their uniforms reminds me of rancid baby shit.

Their school is a smoking crater of moral ineptitude.

Their student body has raised intellectual  mediocrity to an art form.

And on this football Saturday, I am hoping that the Michigan football team makes them feel just this way about themselves.

as much as it is good sport to pick on sparty, i will say this: i have family and some good friends who attended and they are very cool - one of them will be hunting with us in the morning and none of them ever said a word to me after that thing happened in 2015.  further, as a farmer, i must confess some affection for most agricultural pursuits.  so there is that.

It is a mixed bag online and in person...for all fanbases to some extent.  In 2011 at the "Trashnado" game I was minding my own business walking to the stadium with my friend - he in MSU gear and me in UofM gear - and 3 Sparty bros walking towards us called me a "gay fa@@ot", one lunged his face into my face and then asked if I wanted to start something...I just laughed and kept walking. Then once in the stadium there were multiple people literally yelling out loud to injure Denard and calling Denard expletives.  I left with like 2 minutes left in the game and was taunted by multiple people as I left the stadium.

Lord willing, in about 43 hours give or take, we'll all be dancing on dantini's coaching grave.

but i won't say a word to any of them about the outcome.  and i only talk about it if they bring it up in one fashion or another.

sad, too. i used to actually root for sparty as long as they weren't playing us or northwestern.  those days are gone unless they do some serious house cleaning.

MSU is probably at a 40 year low discounted price what with their Moodys credit rating in the shitter, enrollment up (b/c they literally accepted 80% of applicants since apps are down).

Thier stadium can't sell out for a game b/c everyone sees the writing on the wall. Lame duck coach. recruiting on par with indiana. without football providing 10% of their direcotrs cup score, they should finish 50th. I bet they'd be in the clearance aisle at this place:

Back in the day, it was also known as "Moo U".

For the softies on the blog - go find a safe space and check out your matches on "Farmersonly.com".

Fuck Sparty! Go Blue!

I have plenty of Spartan friends and neighbors. I simply refuse to speak to them for one week a year, and although I am not quite Scott Bell when it comes to trolling, I certainly do my bit throughout the football and basketball seasons.

That said, the stereotypical aggrieved Spartan fan is the one I treat with a false sympathy that barely masks a burning disdain for that school and that campus, for as they say, "they hate us 'cause they ain't us". The grammar of that phrase bothers me, but it is apt.

Honestly I have no issue with any MSU fan I have ever encountered.  Maybe I am in the small minority.  OSU fans OTOH.  That's a whole different story...altogether.

"That's a whole different story."

I cannot trash MAC without trashing my own origin. My parents have five degrees between them from that school, mostly in fields of study not available in Ann Arbor, and they met at MAC. Living in the middle of the state, I rooted for that school during my formative years, but then I also rooted for ND until I was about 5--what did I know? My maternal grandfather earned his degree in agricultural science from MAC, but over time became wise enough to marry my grandmother, who had earned her master's degree from the U of M. All that said, I too grew wiser as I grew older, and I would certainly enjoy watching the Wolverines administer a thorough humiliation of Sparty and their coach on Saturday.

It’s not a ding on farmers or on the quality of programs offered on the banks of the Red Cedar.  It’s rivalry week and it’s the time to loathe everything green. Part of the lore is not to refer to the place by the name used by the people who go there. I prefer “Moo” but also like “Michigan State College of Agriculture and Applied Science” and “Spartay” and of course our beloved “STAEE” even though the latter is what it is called by someone who went there or at least someone who is a fan.

Also they have no love for us.

When exactly did it all go wrong?

In 1980 I went to A2 and my best friend went to State. He freely admitted that Michigan was the superior football team but had pride in MSU basketball.

I moved out of Michigan and didn’t pay all that much attention to the goings on, pursuing a career and adult life. When I turned deeper attention back to Michigan football, aided greatly by this site, there was now a faux rivalry, little brother, disrespekt, and the rest of the shitcockery. State fans no longer knew their place and called us Walvies whatever the fuck that means. Was it just a short succession of winning seasons that brought out their inner asshole?

My friend now lives the beachfront lifestyle in Florida, residing out of a shopping cart and participating in bumfights to earn walking around money. I should reach out and send him a care package of Spartan gear to wear around town.
