Most Likely META: Who Are Your Favorite MGoBloggers?

Submitted by LSAClassOf2000 on

JGB and I exchanged a few e-mails over the past few days about various OT (but also some META stuff) topics we could throw out there in lieu of the end of OT season (a mere 27 hours or so from now) and one that came up was this - who are your favorite MGoBloggers?

There are many people who post often, some who post left often, but many people contribute knowledge and insight which I think shows that this is indeed one of the most well-rounded fanbases out there. Indeed, this blog has unique resources as we have a fair number of regular contributors who were / are players and coaches at various levels and that makes this blog a place where I think you can indeed learn something new about your faovrite sports on most days. In my mind that already puts it at a level few other such blogs out there seem to reach consistently.

So, among those folks who contribute their experience, technical knowledge, humor, GIFs, etc...who stands out in your mind? Of course, such threads demand a certain amount of sarcastic wit, but that's what makes them entertaining.

You might see a few such threads like this tomorrow. As I mentioned in my diary the other day, now is your chance to get this out of your system, so your mods thought we would get some of it out of our system.

but gotta give props to profitgoblue/CooperLily22, LSAClassOf2000, ZoneLeft, BiSB.

Not in any order and definitely not all inclusive, I really like a2_electricboogaloo, CenterIce, B-Nut-GoBlue, saveferris, Gordon Berenson, JeepinBen, Erik_in_Dayton, OMG Shirtless, Raoul, joeyb. There are a good few that aren't posting any more (for one reason or another...) that I really enjoyed having around.

Excuse me for my huge list, trying to be inclusive even though I'm sure to have left a lot of guys off.

He's also unmatched in womens basketball and underrated in mens basketball, IMO.

Off the site, he's a good follow on Twitter and I came away with a high opinion of him on my only private (online) interaction with him.

One thing I really like about Raoul is that he talks when he has something to say, which goes for any topic we've mentioned. This seems forced but I've got to plug Alton as the same type of poster, just maybe different interests.

How are your daughters? Are they still playing softball, and in hockey news did they see that USA U22 destroyed Canada tonight?

BTW if quiverfull is a crush on the board he's all that and more via email.

They don't play softball anymore...but I am up at 530 on Saturday for a soccer tournament. That seems to be th sport that stuck. M's.soccer team w(who we got to meet last year) is in our town for 2 games next weekend. Super excited to go watch them play! So, for posters like Raoul, I really value their sports knowledge and insight relating to sports other than football and basketball. And, Brown Bear is another I initially left out.

Wow. I appreciate the shoutouts in this exchange and elsewhere in this thread. But MGoBrewMom, while I've occasionally posted in a few softball threads, it's posters such as South Bend Wolverine, MGoSoftball, and  ಠ_ಠ who really know their stuff in that sport.

Also, I agree with JGB about Alton. He might not be that well known because he doesn't post a great deal. But I think he knows more about the "nonrevenue" sports than anyone else here. I always make sure to read his posts.

And, MGoBrewMom, you're certainly in my large group of favorite posters (as is JGB)—and have, to bring up a different topic, perhaps my favorite avatar here. (Your avatar is up there, too, JGB.)

Magnus, Space Coyote, Reader71...basically people that know football and don't feel the need to express their ever lasting sarcastic negativity within every post and written article.  There are many more, my apologies for not naming them as well.

For those who find themselves having a compulsion to run down coaches, staff, and even ideas, I really have no time for them.  And that's all I'm going to say about that.

Right back atcha, Cali. You would appreciate this: I worked (as an official) a scrimmage this week at your alma mater. You went to Harvard-Westlake, right? Anyway, nice facilities there, holy smokes. Their squad looks pretty good too. But tonight I worked a scrimmage between Alemany and Hart (Brady White). That kid can sling it and his top receiver, Trent Irwin I think his name is, is legit. Alemany has a WR committed to USC, and although he didn't stand out as much, he's a very polite young man. His team has a lot of loud mouths, but he's not at all.

I got a workout, that's for sure. Not exactly 3 yards and a cloud of dust from those two. H-W was crazy uptempo. We asked him before the scrimmage if he wanted us to do a 25 play clock or not, and he said if his team ever took 25 seconds between plays he'd fire himself. Let's just say it was never close.

This whole story is so fucking retarded.  Rumours floating around that atleast 3 will be cleared sometime soon.  I don't know what to think anymore, and sometimes I question whether or not I care anymore.

A third of the board of trustees would sooner see football totally cut out and they'd be fine with that.

Don't sell yourself short. I'm sure you're on some kind of list here, even if privately made and maintained by some of the more unstable members. FTR, I don't see you as the troll that some others do. Then again, I don't read every thread or post...no wonder I didn't make this list. Well, that and I add little of value when I actually do post. I tend to like the humorous posters, mostly because with humor, there is no chance they're pretending to know things they don't, which tends to happen on the Internet. -turd ferguson -BiSB -1484 -Erik in Dayton -Brown Bear And quite a few more I can't recall.

Mr.Mario86. Whenever I needed a laugh, I could count on some inane adolescent nonsense coming from him, not to mention the epic "Magnus' mom" meltdown (was that him or Mr. Rager...) or whatever it was that eventually caved him. Past that, Space Coyote and Brown Bear, and while I vocally wasn't a fan early on, I've liked OMGShirtless ever since he outted RDT.

My top 5 posters are:

  1. Magnus
  2. Section 1
  3. Space Coyote
  4. MGoShoe
  5. Steve Sharik

In no particular order. I'll take official visits to each poster. I'm focused on my season so I don't plan on committing. School, career opportunities, football knowledge, family atmosphere, toughness and tradition are important to me.

Ok, I'm done....I've been wanting to do that for a while now!

I'd say Magnus, Space Coyote, The Other Brian, Erik in Dayton, Reader71, Read Your Guard, Formerly Anonymous, Raoul and many more that I'm forgetting.

Raoul, MGoSoftball, rob f, MGoJohnStamos, LongLiveBo, mgrowold, 'Thad, Don, Magnus, LSAClassOf2000. Really though, the regulars who have been here from 4-5 years ago until now make this place different than anywhere else. I've learned so much from here. Whether it be Michigan stuff, football Xs and Os or better grammar. I scored a 99/100 on my college placement test for the english portion which was pretty much grammar and writing. I give 100% of the credit to mgoblog.

Sopwith and BlueBarron get my vote on avatars alone, but they also have frequent knowledgable takes on the board.
Quiverfull for his down home on the farm charm. I always imagine him looking forward to his 20 min a day he allots for technology and spending it on MgoBlog.
Posters I'd like to have a beer with: WolvinLA2, Monocle Smile, and Raoul. (Not in order)
