More vague rumor mongering from GBMW

"In regards to a defensive player from the 2009 recruiting class. Sorry at this time do not want to put any name out there right now. Just wanted to give people a heads up from what I have heard. He still has a chance to get in, but not looking to good right now. As they say he has one more chance." http://gobluemichiganwolverine.blogspot.com/2009/05/michigan-football-t…

I thought you passed those things if you put your name down right? Or at least got 50% or something like that. He must have put down JT instead of Justin, that's where the mix up is.

However, if I had to guess, it would be Isiah Bell. I've heard that he needed to concentrate more in the classroom, and his teammate Toussaint is also a question mark as far as qualifying. Also, from everything I've gathered, Justin Turner is a good, responsible kid. Not that Bell is a bad kid, but I really don't think Turner would have any troubles qualifying. Also, Roh is an excellent student. He had higher than a 4.0, I think. So don't worry about him.

I'm not going to lie... I read GBMW, but I'm not proud of it. What a horrible page layout. It looks like something designed in 1999. And I'm pretty sure he writes his own questions for his daily "mailbag" posts, which are usually followed by something like "I love reading your blog everyday.. keep up the good work." GBMW is more of a quantity over quality type of blog while MGoBlog is more of uality over quantity, which is why I love this blog.

Instead of making baseless claims about a guy who loves UM football as much if not more than you, why not write him a question and see if he answers it? And I know for a fact he doesn't write his own questions as I have written to him and he's posted and answered my questions. And I can't lie. Eroc, CoachBT and Maizeman know a whole lot more about Michigan football than anyone on here and bring more in depth info about the team than Brian does. The only thing Brian has on them is he has a snazzier looking blog that attracts more readers. But, I don't have blog envy like you do.

GBMW makes tons of baseless claims that have little or no merit. I love how you say that "Eroc, CoachBT and Maizeman know a whole lot more about Michigan football than anyone on here" like its a topic akin to molecular genetics. I mean, if you look at the site they have rousing posts such as (obviously not verbatim, but you get the idea) "much BRICK look nice on EXTERIOR construction man work hard to ERECT structure" or "must think Coach Rod do nice job recruiting but could do better also." Not only is Brian a far better writer with, yes, a much better blog, his posts are a good deal ore thoughtful. If you want to read GBMW, fine. But I think criticism of the blog, and its "reporting" tactics, is more than valid. Plus, they rationalize stupid speculation with "no sugar-coat" and that just bothers me.

That's gold Jerry. Gold!" And for Big Pussy to say that the only thing this blog has over GBMW is a "snazzier looking blog that attracts more readers" shows a startling lack of insight which makes me question why he would even come here. It must be because he's attracted to SNAZZY looking things.

but I will disparage his statement. Really really dumb. To each his own regarding taste in blogs, and feel free not to like this one without any criticism from me, but if you can't recognize the well written nature of this blog compared to others out there, then you can't really distinguish between good writing and something else.

From what I remember reading, I'm pretty sure Turner had a high GPA coming out of high school. GPAs aren't listed on any of his profiles though on Rivals or Scout. Can anyone confirm this?

This wasn't written by anyone who runs the GBW site. It was posted by Eroc on the free board. Why he posted it is beyond me because GBW mods usually frown upon posts like this. The mod, SON OF JOREL, should delete it until it's something of substance is confirmed.

this already reminds me of the McGuffie transfer rumours. There had been rumours and then somebody came out and said it was a legit issue but nobody wanted to believe it. Then for a few days there were conflicting stories only for him to transfer. I really hope that this isn't the same path we go down with JT but let's see it as it is. Whether JT or any other recruit, this is not a good story.

How many sites have rumors started on them? Pretty much all of them! Eroc's blog has information that I'd be unable to get on other free boards and focuses on Michigan football and what surrounds it. Personally I'm not worried about page layout or grammar, it's the content that matters to me. While I like this board, it seems more interested in making adolescent comments about posters and having spell check and grammar wars than talking UofM Football. My point is that no place is perfect, but if you don't like what you see you just move on. If you don't want to read about rumors, don't open the this link and don't got to Eroc's blog...seems simple enough.

the actual posting of rumors, which is fine because it clearly state "Rumor Alert." The issue is more about the cryptic nature of the post (not stating who, the source, exactly what the problem is, or what the time frame is). Who knows if this is more or less credible than me posting something on a blog stating something random (see that Dex post from a week or so ago). However, I do agree that content and information is far more important than grammar and it is childish to make fun of somebody's lack of page layout or grammar.

If it is Turner does that mean that he will probably not be playing for us next year? Or will he just be behind in practice because he will have to make stuff up?

It's likely to be up to him. He could go the Marques Slocum route and try again and again to qualify. Or he could get his academics just enough in order to go to someplace like Cincinnati...Or, of course, he could never get his academics in order.

I mentioned this post to an OSU friend of mine this morning who tends to have a lot of info on OSU recruiting. Apparently OSU loved Turner and wanted him badly but there were always questions as to whether he'd qualify academically...That said, I have no inside information here and (obviously) wish the kid the best.
