More nonsense going on with Chris Webber/Jalen Rose

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

I just saw this today.........yeesh.

Chris Webber was on Doug Gottleib's show. He asked Chris about his freindship with Jalen, and things went as you would expect-

Webber and Rose, once extremely close, have been on the outs in recent years.

“What did you just ask me?” Webber said.

Gottlieb reiterated his original question: Where is your relationship with Jalen?

“Wherever it was,” Webber said.

Gottlieb asked Webber to clarify.

“I mean, Doug, we ain’t talking about that,” Webber said. “You ain’t getting that interview. I’m talking about Wake Forest. I don’t talk about him. I talked about him one time on The Dan Patrick show. That was it.”

Full transcript that gets more awkward here-

If you want to listen to it, it's at the 14 minute mark.

Michigan had 5 guys start in a national title game three seasons ago. None of them act like this. Remember them instead.

Actually it doesnt get more awkward. And Baumgartner is sickeningly self-righteous.

Stop adding fuel in an attemtp to turn what was barely a spark into a fire.

The longer what goes on? Two grown men not liking each other now? Because that's pretty common. Webber and Rose not liking each other should have no bearing on how Michigan interrelates with the historical Fab 5. Michigan can honor that team and that period regardless of whether Webber and Jalen like each other.

He still acts more immature than most college kids I know. Great basketball player and represented our school fine while he was here, but he has been a disgrace ever since.

Chris Webber need to open up and let go of those old demons that put a wrinkle into valuable relationships he forged during his time at Michigan. Yes he was a fantastic ball player, but still needs to improve on character.

The Fab Five altered the NCAA landscape. They were the Beatles and Stones every arena they played.
I saw them in 1991 @ Welsh-Ryan in Evanston to a busting house simply there for the show and by the 2H they were channeling both the Globetrotters and cirque du soliel trying to lose.
I listened to that CWebb interview on DPshow and he does have a story to tell. I'm sure it'll be an appointment read.

I dont see a problem with Cwebb's response. The question came off very greasy. Talking about Jalen obviously wasnt the reason he was there for the interview. I give him credit for taking the high road even though he kind of did it in a dick way. Jalen would have ran his mouth I'm sure as he's done on a number of occasions.

I love Chris and Jalen. I don't care if they fight it out in public. Two great players of our generation. Give them space, stop asking them questions about each other and move on. While Nick has been a fair reporter mostly, he is still a Sparty and he can kiss my a**.

Not sure why this would be note worthy. Chris Webber is a prick. That is not an opinion or even meant to be an insult. That is just the personality he has. We have all met people that just are pricks, plain and simple. Their personalities are abrasive, they feel more entitiled then the person next to them, when they have the option to smile or frown, they feel a frown always works better. Webber is just one of those guys. That was true even back when he was in high school, so it isn't like this was some recent personality divergenced. And if you met his dad, it wasn't hard to see where he got it from. Now his brother Jason was one of the nicest guys you could ever meet, and I always found it odd how two brothers could be so vastly different.

Not sure why everyone is clamoring for a Fab 5 reunion. Webber was a liar and a cheat back then, and an angry ass now. I'm fine if his name and the University of Michigan are never mentioned in the same sentence ever again.

Remember Chris Webber's retort to anyone asking him about the Fab Five documentary a few years back?

"It'll all be in my book. All the truth will come out then"

Hmmm, whatever happened to that book?

Sorry, I was at Michigan during the Fab 5 and whatever happened since then is just life playing out. You rarely stay friends with someone forever and falling a out do happen. By the way, that was an awesome time to be at Michigan in basketball and football.
