What a great day and feel for him first and foremost, but also for all the people that have been following his journey! His story should be an inspipration to millions!!!

From the LA Times story...Jamal Adams, Loyola's coach talking here:

"He hit a three and our bench erupted," Adams said. "It was unbelievable what that kid has gone through and how hard he's worked. That kid has taught me you can come back from anything, that nothing is impossible. It was a spiritual moment."

I dare say that, following Hatch's road back to the court as we do, we've learned a similar lesson. What this kid has been through and his determination to still play basketball make for an incredible story. I hope to be at his first appearance in Crisler to be part of a well-deserved standing ovation for Hatch.

We are 9 days in to 2014 & the past 24 hours has brought more good news than any time in 2013 after March. So glad to hear Austin is progressing well in his recovery.

Congratulations to Austin on reaching this point in his recovery and continued best wishes for the road again. The 3 pointer must have been an awesome thing to see.

Great to see him getting on the court. I know Austin said he has some things to work on, but is there a possibility he could see meaningful minutes at U-M? Even if it is far in the future? If health-wise, he is okay to play, I assume more years of rehab and practice (plus our great coaches) will allow him to do more than we originally thought?

Such a great story and the pre-shot excitement in that video was so cool...they all knew it was coming and were rooting for it and errupted.  So happy for this kid...incredible.

not to get all mushy and clarvoyant up in here, but I honestly believe this kid is going to do special things, on and more importantly off the court. to come through such tragedy and hardship as well as he has is amazing.

I can't comprehend Hatch's toughness. Absolute refusal to give up with everything that has been thrown at him. If he gets onto the court at Crisler, I agree with LSA. I want to be there to root on that kid.
