I almost got fired from my part-time job after that game. Game finished around 3:30, had work at 4 at a clothing store in the mall and I was just not in the mood to deal with customers.

Includes this little bit at the end: "When Notre Dame signed the deal, it was the top priority for adidas, but things changed when adidas began providing shoes and apparel for the University of Michigan in 2008. The deal that gives the Wolverines $8.2 million in cash and equipment annually is the largest deal in all of college sports."

I can't comprehend Hatch's toughness. Absolute refusal to give up with everything that has been thrown at him. If he gets onto the court at Crisler, I agree with LSA. I want to be there to root on that kid.

This is coming out of pure speculation and what I remember from what I have seen, but I think the defense had more apparent issues this season due to being on the field more often. Multiple 3 & out drives lead to a tired defense.

This may be my "Maize Goggle" view, but I really dislike that call on Mcgary to give Arizona the 1-and-1 to take the lead. It seemed like something that should be ignored at such a crucial point in the game. There's great basketball product that goes on for 39 minutes and that call tainted that last minute for me.

I wonder if the defensive pressure is going to shift towards GRIII. I'd like to see Stauskas in some better shot opportunities. It seems like he's been well covered that whole half.

I think it comes down to our offense. I've been rotting with the flu today so I looked back at some rankings for those years.
1993: UM OSU UM +/-
Total Offense - 38 45 7
Rushing - 40 37 -3
Passing - 40 52 8
Scoring - 35 30 5
Total Defense - 22 9 -13
T/O Margin - 28:24 20:15
Final Score - UM 28 OSU 0
Notable Stat - OSU 4 INTs in 1st half
1995: UM OSU UM +/-
Total Offense - 33 5 -28
Rushing - 21 14 -7
Passing - 64 15 -49
Scoring - 45 6 -39
Total Defense - 11 32 21
T/O Margin - 29:24 31:20
Final Score - UM 31 OSU 23
Biakabutuka 313 yards
OSU held to 106 rushing yards, 392 total yards
"I've been playing football for six years, including high school, and I've never seen holes like that," Biakabutka said. "Any one of you guys could have run through them."
1996: UM OSU UM +/-
Total Offense - 48 16 -32
Rushing - 17 9 -8
Passing - >50 46 ? (rankings up to 50, too lazy to research)
Scoring - >50 6 ? (same idea)
Total Defense - 18 6 -12
T/O Margin - 23:22 30:16
Final Score - UM 13 OSU 9
OSU offense falters in 2nd half
Griese takes over 2nd half and leads UM from 9-0 deficit
I know stats don't mean everything, especially when it comes to The Game. But we can't ignore our inefficiency and pretend our issues this year can be ignored.
For 2013, the only glaring difference in the statistics I saw were in the offense. OSUs offense ranks 6th while Michigan ranks 94th. The quote from Biakabutuka captures the point I guess I'm trying to make. Our line doesn't give us a favorable edge in this game. Our run game is ranked 100th and I was too bummed to look up our passing offense but I can only assume it's nothing spectacular.
I guess another stat I could have looked up was sacks allowed for those previous games. For this year, we have 32 sacks allowed compared to OSUs 13 and they have so far reached the QB 36 times this year (another disappointing stat is we have given up 244 yards on all those sacks). Our offensive line is young or inexperienced or both (minus Schofield and Lewan). But I think another issue may be Gardner and his progression and when a play becomes broken and how Gardner responds to defensive pressure. This allows defenses to confidently stuff the box, shut down the run game and force Gardner to respond to the pressure. I'll probably rewatch the Iowa game later and see if there is a pattern of error in Gardner's progression.

Akron is just playing with so much confidence. In a game where at this point we were expecting second stringers to be in, this is just not a good position to be in.
Pressure is going to be on Gardner the rest of this game and the rest of the season. Defenses are going to be loading up the box forcing him to make quick decisions. Akron is showing how to take advantage of that.

I'm switching back and forth between Indy vs Minn and Duke vs NC State. It seems when I switch back to the Indy game, they are controlling the boards when they miss.
