So this just popped up on Fanatics.com as a New Arrival.
The title says "Riddell Michigan Wolverines Chrome Alternate Speed Mini Helmet"
I'd be really surprised. I don't think Riddell replicas are a reliable sign of what the team will wear.
I'd also be pretty unhappy, because that looks bad.
Let Delaware have this one
Would also be a subtle companion to Maryland's unis.

When I first saw the post, I thought it might be these https://youtu.be/I5dH0qOSqSc which are sweet. Part matte and part chrome.
I like the matte part, but the chrome is shiny gold, which is nothing like maize.

Well, if they wear those, we could have three different shades of Maize. The field (block M, end zone lettering) the pants and the helmet! I just think that's to many. Maybe i'm just old school.
Ah nice catch. Well if nothing more, this will show the people who do want to do this for one game how bad it would look.
Also I just looked at the others they did. The Browns boring helmet would actually looked good if they did that.

A google search of mgoblog and chrome helmets showed a total of 2 threads, one from 2013 and 2018.
not always a thread. sometimes posted inside existing threads. often the words "chrome helmet" are not used. just a pic and 'is this for real?'

It's seems really small. Most of our guys are pretty big, especially the linemen, and they're going to have a hard time fitting into "mini helmets".

I'm not a huge fan but I wouldn't complain that long if they wore them. It's taken me 3 years to accept the white pants. Still not on board with the helmet stickers.

As a 40+ year fan, I'll pass. I've actually enjoyed "some" of the uniforms they've rolled out in recent years for one game and one game only (my personal favorite was actually the all blue home uni's), but leave that helmet alone. It is, bar none, the most iconic helmet design in the country. I'd hazard a guess if you did a web poll of college football fans identifying helmets which don't have the team name on them, Michigan would win in a landslide.
You know what? If they win, I don't care what they're wearing for helmets.

I guess I’m the only one... but I think under the lights, at Notre Dame with their chrome golden domers, it could look pretty cool.
And as I think we all know, it shouldn’t matter what we think but what the players and future recruits think are cool

To use a phrase that's been used many times whenever somebody dicks around with a classic design:
Stop trying to paint a mustache on the Mona Lisa.
I think its the shade of blue that throws it off. Give it the same shade of blue, and blue chrome face mask and it might, MIGHT look good.
But, as they always say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"
