Michigan vs. Michigan State/Early Games Open Thread

Submitted by M-Wolverine on

As always, I direct you to the LIVEBLOG on the front page, but for those who can't log into it, can't keep up, or just like the open format, here you go. Plus it saves maybe half of the halftime threads.

And if you're like me, you kinda switch back and forth between the two depending on which Michigan seems to be playing best while you're in it.

I think DRobs first half struggles are a ploy...to lure teams into a false sense of security!! Come on adjustments!!

Lots to work on during half time, but this is when our team will come out better, right?

Denard and Gardner have both been off, but we have seen Denard bounce back (ahem, Northwestern).  Also, some of those passes, while not accurate were still somewhat catchable (Roundtree off finger tips).

We really should not be trying deep passes in this wind with Denard's erratic throwing, but with MSU selling out to stop the run, I don't think we have much of a choice.  Hopefully we can connect on a few of these, and some bubble screens would be nice too.  Anything to get the ball on the edge because oru running isn't always getting there.

I hate to say this but I think having Devin come in (with Dr on the field) is good. I know there would be different feelings if he had found Hopkins on that pass.

Devin isnt ready for the big time. He locks onto one receiver and missed Hopkins for a scord.

Denard needs to wake up and quit just heaving the ball. Needs to set his feet and throw it.

Chris Spielman has continually ripped MICHIGAN players technique's and taking cheap shots at coaches. In my opinion he is still mad because he never beat MICHIGAN or he's on his permanent period because the STATE OF OHIO SUCKS!!

Is what Greg will be bringing. KC hasnt beaten us and we need to stop the run. Denard needs more outside zone reads and read options.

Seriously, thay guy needs to shut his mouth. I've never heard someone so blatantly wanting someone (Michigan) to lose. I'm so irritated I have to listen to him another half.

1)  Attack the perimeters with bubble screens and a few more speed option plays from shotgun.  I'd use Shaw on the option rather than Smith

2) Even though it gets panned on here, I'd try running inside/offtackle from the I-form, as it's just not happening from the shotgun.  I'd even consider some FB runs with Hopkins on first down, to offset the blitz and pick up 3-4 yards.

3) Get Denard and Devin to see the open guys at midrange, but just hone in on one WR.

4) Get Denard to scramble when things break down and he's got some time, NOT throw ducks into the wind or with the wind to Tacopants.

People are acting like we are down by three touchdowns, it's an even game so far.  No one thought this game would be an easy win. Michigan will have to earn it, and they will.

Well, clearly sparty is scoring a touchdown here.  The defense just looks weak.  If the offense can't respond right back, this will probably get out of hand by the end of the quarter.  Just pathetic run defense.

Not really any positives to take away.  MSU's constant personal foul penalties are the only offense we have to speak of, and Denard is reaching Sheridan-esque levels in his throwing.  I mean, he SUCKS at throwing the ball.  Can Jack Kennedy maybe come in and do something?

This game is over.  What an epic fucking fail from the savior Brady Hoke.  No attempt to run the ball, not being even remotely physical on either side of the ball.  No emotion or motivation that I can see.  Awful.
