Michigan-Virginia B-Ball Open Thread
Game on ESPN2, and maybe the last good one till almost the new year (Iowa State isn't what they once were, and lost to Drake). So might be the last exciting game with a month's worth of development (maybe more...how do we start AND end the Big Ten season with Penn State?). And if I'm wrong, there's always Rudolph at 8 pm. (Oh who am I kidding, set your dvr).

November 29th, 2011 at 6:48 PM ^
Why post something specifically to be flamed? Give analysis at least.

Nice usage of parenthesis, M-Wolverine. Only makes the post slightly harder to read.
November 29th, 2011 at 8:03 PM ^
For an open thread next time.
November 29th, 2011 at 6:50 PM ^
Oakland at the Palace isn't an entertaining game? Did they lose a lot of talent or something?

Virginia is a good defensive team. Another very good road test for this tough Michigan team.
November 29th, 2011 at 7:01 PM ^
Predicting Jordan doesn't let Mike Scott go completely bananas, and our guards outplay theirs
We win in a close one, with Mike Scott getting something like 17 pts, but Jordan battling him and getting 12 pts on 5-8 shooting, and grabbing 7-8 boards of his own

Don't mean to interrupt the thread but I thought everyone would like to know that Brionte will be visited tomorrow by Fred Jackson and (WR Coach) Heck in his home. Shall we buckle up? Meyer will be voting soon with Hoke following behind (most likely).
November 29th, 2011 at 7:05 PM ^
I'll be upset with mgocommenters if we end up under twenty Led Zeppelin jokes in this one.
November 29th, 2011 at 7:06 PM ^
Smotrycz finally gets a shot off from under the rim instead of just flailing like a trout.
November 29th, 2011 at 7:06 PM ^
Smotz with the drive...like his new found aggressiveness this year
November 29th, 2011 at 7:07 PM ^
I think we have more talent and better coaching/discipline
November 29th, 2011 at 7:10 PM ^
UVa was chanting "Let's Go _____!" What was that _____? It sounded like Blue to me so therefore they must stop it
November 29th, 2011 at 7:14 PM ^
November 29th, 2011 at 7:15 PM ^
It's "Hoos" (short for Wahoos).
November 29th, 2011 at 7:22 PM ^
Out of curiosity, why are they called the Wahoos? Does it have something to do with Cavaliers that I am unfamiliar with?
November 29th, 2011 at 7:33 PM ^
a Wahoo is a fish reportedly that can "drink" 3 times its weight. (I know, I know... its a FISH... it DRINKS with every breath. No, I don't understand what it means.)
But, Virginia used to have a rep as a party school. They liked to think they can chug beer w the best (read: Dartmouth). So, the student body years and years ago decided to call themselves the Wahoos b/c they can drink so much. And it stuck.
A "Double Wahoo" is someone with both undergrad and grad UVa degrees. A "triple Wahoo" would be, like, BS, MS and PhD, all from UVa, etc.
Yeah, as dumb as naming yourself after a nut.
November 29th, 2011 at 7:40 PM ^
If the wikipedia article is to be believed, that explanation is probably apocryphal. The truth seems to be that it came from an old chant: "Wa-hoo-wah!"
November 29th, 2011 at 7:15 PM ^
Guessing it was "Let's go Hoo's." Would sound a lot like Blue.
November 29th, 2011 at 7:10 PM ^
Timmy needs some touches... Yet I love how no one forces it and it all comes within the flow of the offence.
November 29th, 2011 at 7:12 PM ^
where's all the maize i was expecting?
November 29th, 2011 at 7:12 PM ^
Dang!!!!!
November 29th, 2011 at 7:13 PM ^
Two fouls early. Not good.
November 29th, 2011 at 7:14 PM ^
Vogrich in before Stu?
November 29th, 2011 at 7:15 PM ^
can we not rebound or what
November 29th, 2011 at 7:15 PM ^
Vogrich in before Stu?
Hahaha..Announcer said Smotz a "guard that can't dribble"
November 29th, 2011 at 7:15 PM ^
Guard who can't dribble. Did he mean that as a compliment?!?
November 29th, 2011 at 7:15 PM ^
UVA's offensive possessions turning into slop fests.
Ball just not bouncing our way; two in a row, good stops but missed the rebounds.
November 29th, 2011 at 7:16 PM ^
Horford needs to not start his post moves when he's 10 feet away from the basket.
November 29th, 2011 at 7:17 PM ^
I like Horford's moves, just don't think he has the strength yet to be a real post presence
November 29th, 2011 at 7:19 PM ^
You mean the "one" he has??? Two dribbles and throw it over the right/left shoulder??? He has potential, but he has a long way to go...
November 29th, 2011 at 7:27 PM ^
Agreed that he has work to do, but if he has the strength to get post position 4-5 ft from the basket and not 12ft...I'll take 4ft jump hooks all day
November 29th, 2011 at 7:17 PM ^
Very sloppy early. Would maybe like to see us go big against Virginia.
