Michigan Pro Day Results
People have chatted about this before, but I didn't find any actual results posted yet. NFL.com ran this article today.
Summary:
Donavan Warren didn't really improve on his time, both of his 40s were in the 4.6 range.
Brandon Minor and Brandon Graham both pushed their days back to April 8th.
Stevie Brown was impressive, good numbers etc etc.

For Donovan and BG to have such similar 40 times?
Whoa!
that RR and crew should have cloned as many BFG's as possible and played 10 of them on defence (11 would make it unfair to other teams).
After a Brandon Graham pass break up, Zoltan could punt the ball out of the stadium just to spite the opponent.
Damn, I wish Warren would have stayed. Hopefully he's still successful and gets a nice payday on his second contract.
Ernest Shazor?... I thought for sure he'd be a 2nd or 3rd round pick and I wasn't alone. But man he went undrafted and then missing.
If Warren goes undrafted, it will be for reasons very different from Shazor, who was not lacking in physical ability, only in focus. I think Warren has a good head on his shoulders, he just got some bad advice and was too hasty to pursue his dreams. I still think Warren will get drafted. Hell, Ryan Mundy got drafted. It would be such a shame if he could, but Warren couldnt.
Shazor wasn't lacking physical ability? His 40 time was approximately the same as Dace Richardson's. He left too early and he was going to be too slow to play safety in the NFL.
It wasn't a "lack of focus," at least not entirely. It was the fact that he had subpar athleticism for his position, would have had to switch positions, and left a year of experience undiscovered.

From everything I heard (which admittedly may not be EVERYTHING) Warren got good advice but didn't take it. He didn't even wait for his evaluation to return before declaring for the draft.
Some people could blame poor advice for helping them make a poor decision, but in this case it is on DW. I really hope he does end up being a succcess in the NFL, but if he doesn't he won't have anyone else to blame.
I don't really recall him ever getting burned by really fast guys. I remember the ND game last season where he had a nice downfield pass breakup on Golden Tate who is supposedly one of the fastest receivers in this class. I think he's one of those guys who's "football fast." Seemed like he had more trouble on the quick outs. He'll catch on somewhere.

Warren may also just not be sprinter fast. Alot of the guys who run super fast 40s happen to sprint as well. The fastest are NCAA/near-Olympic quality. As I'm sure most of us can deduce, there's a substantial gap between a timed, prepared sprint and the kind of running you do on a football field. If Warren hasn't had the sprint coaching that many athletes get in order to prep for the combine, his 40 time may not be as phenomenal, without being a reflection on his actual 'football speed.'
Of course, this is yet another reason that the combine and it's assorted drills are highly overrated. They are useful to a point, but often don't account for all of the assorted factors that go into playing football well.
any word on what numbers the other guys put up? Carlos, Mathews, Ortmann, anyone?
I assume they're among the "ten others" that NFL.com deemed too unimportant to actually list numbers for

I know Carlos had a 38" vert and ran around a 4.43 40. Not sure about anything else
NFL scouts look at more then film. As a Buffalo Bills fan we drafted USC's Cary Harris in round 6, and I believe he was worse then Warren. Not to mention he ran a slower 40.
From what I understand though, Warren was still hurt during our Pro Day. He didn't anticipate running the 40 but just did anyway. The scouts know he has another public workout with BG I think around April 7th.

i did not know there were other bills fan on here. Good to see another one. However, the buffalo bills tend to draft pretty poorly i'd say. hopefully a new staff full of "football guys" can do us some good. the old motto for the draft was to always take the best player available despite need.

Those are impressive numbers from Stevie. I know that he was the favorite whipping boy in '08-'09, but after watching him this year you just wish that he had another year of eligibility. Not saying he would be a star, but the athleticism is clearly there and would be a nice addition to the young defense. Ah well.
As for Warren, I'll presume that he is still injured because 4.6 wouldn't have allowed him to play as well as he did this year. Still, you kind of get a sense that he would have benefited from another year on the team, especially after seeing how impressive BG is. I'm sure there are reasons why he is leaving, but I'm not sure 3rd/4th round is where he expected to be drafted (which seems to be the sentiment).

He will find job somewhere. I'm wondering how long his career will go?
Not here.

He definitely needed to come back and work on some things. Sigh...
March 17th, 2010 at 10:42 PM ^
...but I never thought DW was "all in." Yes, I know he was injured, but still. Maybe I am just wrong to think it...
March 17th, 2010 at 10:49 PM ^
i've heard the same from people on the team.
March 18th, 2010 at 12:35 AM ^
We go forward with what we have.
And I like what we have. It's young, but I like it.
I've said it once, I'll say it again man I love being a turtle.
Sorry anytime I hear that I immediately think the ending of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II.
I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'm sick of hearing that "So-and-so wasn't all in." I don't even know what it is, but something about it just rubs me the wrong way. Maybe it's the fact that it's all just rumor and there's no visible evidence of such a claim.
I know it won't happen, but I wish we could declare a moratorium on saying "He wasn't all in" unless the guy actually quits, says he hated the coaches, etc.

man... i wish Warren would have stayed.

Also grumblings about him testing positive for the reefer a day or two before the draft.
