Michigan Player Perfect Post-Game Quote: "That was insane. %^&k them"

Mates,

With apologies for slightly covered profanity that I try to avoid, I thought it was worth sharing one of our players' reaction to The Game yesterday, and what amounts to the perfect "reverse-schadenfreude" comment, if there can be such a thing.   Upon being congratulated on a great victory, he texted back as the title says:

"That was insane.  ^&*k them"

The ohio fan base* is the ultimate spoiled child and that 11 Whiners website is beyond sweet.  Never has football 'power' corrupted a more loathsome group of fans than that place, though I'm sure sparty would follow suit if they could.  11 Whiners posters are going after each other and their team and coaches like a circular firing squad, and reminds of the old Rodney Dangerfield quote: "Now I know why tigers eat their young."

Here is a link if you want to spend a few minutes of fun: https://www.elevenwarriors.com/

Two quick take-aways.  If you're like me you're still somewhat floating around after yesterday's joyous earthquake.  Enjoy that feeling as much as you can, because we know the world will make that temporary.  We look forward to the B10CG with anticipation and a very likely CFP birth.  Those are special things for any team and to do that two years in a row, doing it the right way, is exceptional.

Second thing, while we all pine for some sustained super-power success, in the back of our minds let us reflect on our own response and do our best to avoid those traits we see in other fan bases.  The Michigan Difference includes not just intellectual and academic rigor, but also a gratefulness, humility and a calm in the face of life's storms.  We aren't going to win every game, but we can certainly enjoy those wins when they come.  Yesterday was special, let's keep it rolling.

Have a great Sunday and Go Blue!

*Very pleasant exceptions made for some of the ohio regulars around here, Buckeye Chuck, Officer Rabbit, and a few others.  Glad to have you guys around

We're having Victory Pizza today.  I was too discombobulated yesterday to order it.

I have an Ohio State fan/grad neighbor who lives somewhere down the street from me.  He's a decent sort like Buckeye Chuck and Officer Rabbit.  He attended Ohio State in the early 80s so I suspect his happiness with his team the past 20 years was always tempered by the Cooper era. If I see him, I won't rub it in.

I have a co-worker who is a bit of a cunt (making up for your lack of profanity above) and he's going to get the "What happened to your team Saturday" greeting and smile.

Agreed, GO BLUE!!!

My dad and I polished off the last quarter or so of a bottle of six-year-old Canadian Club from 1973 in celebration.  For some time now we've gone into that liquor cabinet, contemplated it, and decided the age of the thing called for a more momentous occasion of some kind.  Found the right occasion.  55-year-old whiskey is smooth stuff.

Made pizza dough yesterday to allow it a celebratory 24 hour cold fermentation.  Had some outstanding victory pizza today.

GFs uncle lives in Columbus and is a rabid OSU fan.  After the OSU / Maryland game he texted "hope you enjoyed the game."  You can imagine the texts that went his way around 4PM yesterday.

Go Blue!

Ohio State fans in GENERAL are rabid, overreacting fanatics who hate Michigan with the fiery passion of a thousand burning suns. And I can respect that. Hate you too my dudes :) But they respect the rivalry and the rival. And when they win, which has been often, they act like they've been there before. Because they have.

Michigan State fans in GENERAL are *aggressively* stupid jackals who take pleasure in inflicting pain. And not emotional pain: *physical* pain. They don't understand the difference between "effort" and "violence", just like their team. Win or lose, they are destructive and rowdy-to-the-point-of-unhinged. The least safe I've ever felt in a rival's town was MSU after an MSU win. There is absolutely no respect here: every single year, every single game, it's obvious that MSU fans root for the fight more than the win. Fuck them.

The MOST respectful and even-keeled rival we have is probably Minnesota. I would love to play them more.

Drinking some coffee and watching College Football Final this morning, as usual.  But it's sooo much sweeter today!  I can't get enough of all these talking heads telling us how good Michigan was, is.  Shade?  Not a single one will tell us how wrong he was all year long when saying OSU was the better team.  F them, too!

Your other words also ring true - win with dignity.  Rub it into an assholes face, but show some dignity with the guys that can speak to you on a civil level.  I have a couple of co-workers that are OSU fans for whatever reason, although most are PSU slappies and one guy from Michigan who's family is MSU.  Not a single one is an asshole deserving of shit-talking.  A part of me misses that - the submarine sailor in me needs to go base every now and then, but this isn't the office to do that in!  I'll let them come to me because I don't want them searching me out after a Michigan loss.

Couldn’t agree more. I told my buddies this is now the time OSU has finally met adversity. What happens when they do? They start grabbing the pitch forks and calling for their 45-5 coach to be fired. They better be careful what they wish for. The whining is hilarious.

I sat back last night taking it all in, trying to figure out this crazy ride in UM football the last couple years. UM went from having Harbz on the hot seat and a lot of us clamoring for him to go (myself included) to not just winning and playing turtle ball. But, DOMINATING OSU the last two games, and on the cusp on winning his second BIG Championship. Mind you, not even with nearly the amount of talent of stars that OSU has. Harbz  has transformed this game into a beautiful piece of art that will go down as legendary status. How Michigan, Michigan faithful and THE TEAM, THE TEAM, THE TEAM got there was a bit of a wait. But here we are. Monkey is off the back, no more BPONE. Seeing all the other top teams play, this Natty could be anyone’s. Time to believe. Michigan is back!

Best word of describing how I personally feel: elated. Go Blue!

I woke up feeling like yesterday might’ve been a dream. Ecstasy and disbelief. Currently listening to a bucknuts postgame reaction video and sounds like it definitely happened. IT HAPPENED! Woooo!!! I’m left wondering tho… how deep did the “JJ can’t throw the deep ball” subterfuge go? Did coach Harbaugh just troll us hard for an entire season? Like after Hawaii? Did he just tell JJ, the OCs and the whole offense to just put that sh* away and intentionally miss on almost every deep pass?? Was it all to beat Ohio? Yesterday. In Columbus.
Fine. Well played sir!

The most entitled fan base in the world.  Stroud sucks!  Fire Day!  Fire all the coaches!  We lost to Michigan, world ends!  What a bunch of jackasses.  These people don’t remember the Bo/Woody years of parity, and they sure don’t remember the Cooper years very well.  Losing a couple games in a row has happened before, and it will happen again.  That’s how sports works.

Bi polar fanbase for sure, as are most. 24 hrs ago Knowles was gonna shut us down and OSU was gonna win by 50. Today Ryan days gotta worry about some unhinged loon throwing sacks of shit at his house and probably has a security detail. I also predicted that their fanbase would declare the loss as their own doing versus us just bullying them the 2nd half. I was right.

Oh they remember the Cooper years alright, if the number of posts comparing Day to Cooper is any indication.  But otherwise I couldn't agree more.  They got fat and happy on the Tressel and Urbz years and started thinking of beating Michigan as a birthright.  They convinced themselves that Harbaugh could never beat Ohio; that if Harbaugh couldn't, nobody could; and that a new thousand-year kingdom of Ohio State dominance had been established a la the Book of Revelation.  Ryan Day bought into this, talking about the "scars" from last year as if they knew what scars were really like.  And up until last year's game, Day had exactly one regular season loss in 3+ seasons, so it's not a hard narrative to believe.

And now they'll have players come and go (Stroud comes to mind) without ever earning a single pair of gold pants.

The same could be said for their feature writers as one wrote a post a couple weeks ago legit wondering why OSU isn't getting more respect in regards to being a playoff team.

You horse's ass.  The media has been having orgasms over you all season.  Just previewing your games is enough to send them over the edge.  You've been ranked #2 for almost the entire season.  Analysts gave Stroud the Heisman back in October.  Gus Jones consistently calls you 'world famous'  How much more respect do you need?  And when did you turn into Mark Dantonio?

This is exactly why OSU needs to have their own RichRod and Hoke for a decade.  This is the result of a spoiled fan base beyond belief.  Ohio State is like an insufferable rich guy who has 10 million in the bank but constantly complains that he should have 11 million.  And people are supposed to have sympathy?

Enjoying it with grace, stubborn humility and immense pride. In other words, it was a game for our ages. I revisited all the good old times in our past never expecting Saturday's performance. It ranks way up there with 1969, 1995-2000, and sure salves 2006 and 2016.

Vengeance is an emotion best served cold. Hope the Buckeyes feel every bit of emptiness from losing again by a bigger margin. Or as their DC put it, "Crushed."

Refs were mostly a non-factor. Only two issues I noticed were them missing a ticky tack face mask shortly after calling almost exactly the same against us, and the Ronnie Bell DPI call, which wasn't really catchable, since he would have landed out of bounds. He calls favored us slightly.

As a fan who has loved Michigan football for 53 years and who also happens to reside in metro Columbus, I can say it will be fun to watch all the bickering in the next 12 months.  After last year’s game I was at a Christmas party and one diehard OSU fan guaranteed me that OSU would destroy Michigan this year. I went ahead and bet him that Michigan would win.  Can’t wait to hear him whine.  I’ll just smile and enjoy.  In many ways this win is even more sweet than last year’s due to the adversity of being in the Toilet Bowl with all the crazy fans and losing Corum.

Kudos to the players and coaches.

One more thing:  it was also so fun to watch JJ grow in his confidence and maturity right before our eyes.  He’s a warrior

I have an old work colleague who I'm in contact with only on Facebook. Huge OSU fan. Always used to post on my page when they'd win with some stupid "M Go Blows!" type of comment. Last year, I said nothing to him. Never mentioned it. Same this year. These losses must be excruciating for them.

Losing The Game always sucks. For it to be a true rivalry, both programs and fanbases need to experience the depths of that suck from time to time.

I took my dog for a promised walk after the game still in my block M hat and Wolverine hoodie, and passed a neighbor with an OSU flag on his porch. He and his elderly father were putting up their Christmas lights, and he had already switched into his Maryland sweatshirt. He said he'd forgotten to take the flag down.

I asked him not to, reminded him his team was 11-1, and told him it felt good that this felt like the actual rivalry was back. And that means staying proud of your team when they lose so you can truly enjoy when they win. Chagrined, they nodded. "See you again next year!"
