14 weeks 7 hours ago Win against Penn St; take it EZ the rest of the way

I agree with the comments that this team played tired at the end of the season.  The B10 was a grind and likely wore them out.  4 games in 4 days won't improve matters.

Of course, if M hadn't lost to IU, Wisky and PSU -- all games they should have won, they'd already have a #1 seed locked up (and an outright title).

I think they should go all out on the PSU game and take it EZ afterward.   How many Big East champs have grinded out a Big East title only to lose their first NC2A game?

14 weeks 8 hours ago One more thing on Columbus...

It's about a 3 hour drive to AA on game day.   It's pretty easy drive.

14 weeks 8 hours ago Living in Columbus as a Michigan fan ain't easy...

A lot of posts talk about CBus been a "hole" but really it is a terrific place to live with the exception of some of the "Over the Top" fans.   Most fans are pretty cool but some can be downright hateful..  My wife (who is a Michigan grad) refuses to wear Michigan gear around town.  There are many Michigan fans here but if you are going to raise a family, you should expect a heavy dose of OSU banners, posters and ads in your kids' schools.  OSU is everywhere here whether you like it or not.  It gets really old at times to be honest.

As far as places to live, depending on your tastes and finances, there are a lot of good schools and communities in the burbs.   Upper Arlington and Bexley probably have the best public school systems but Hilliard (where I live), Dublin, Powell, Worthington, Westerville, Gahanna and Pickerington are all good too.   Downtown Columbus has a lot of really good restaurants and a lot of really nice new housing if you like big city living.   In the 20+ years I have lived here, it is amazing how much downtown has been transformed.   It used to be a real dump.   Clintonville is probably my favorite city neighborhood but if you live there, you have to send your kids to private schools;  Columbus city Schools are awful.

Marysville is a little futher out but it's pretty nice too.   Also, New Albany and Lewis Center are also newer suburbs that are also very nice.

I grew up north of Cincinnati which is not nearly as OSU oriented and a lot more pro sports oriented than is Cbus.

Great Job to day and all season!    Wish the whole group could travel for the NCAA's.   It makes a huge difference in this team.

14 weeks 2 days ago Players not lined up on the lane for 1 & 1...

I really disliked pulling all of M's players off the foul lane in the last  minute while the shooter is taking his 1 & 1.  First, if he misses, there is a chance to get the rebound.  Second, for the shooter, it just feels different not to have at least two players in there.

Definitely should have won the B10.   Wisky, PSU and today's game should all have been W's.

The good news is that this team can and should keep on getting better.

Go Blue

17 weeks 6 days ago Michigan's chances the rest of the way

Last night definitely makes me wonder about the fight in this team.   However, the home court advantage in the Big 10 is HUGE.   It wouldn't surprise me to see them win all 6 of those remaining games.  Like Izzo said after the game last night, MSU played their best game of the season and Michigan definitely played their worst.

From what I've seen, Indiana is the best team in the conference.  Two weeks ago, I would have said Michigan was right with them.    Their 3 losses were at 3 of the toughest places to play period.  Once games go to neutral sites for the Big 10 tourney and NCAA tourney, it will be interesting to see how they do.

18 weeks 6 hours ago Michigan just didnt show up

Michigan just didnt show up to play tonight.   They look like boys against men - no toughness.  From the opening tipoff, they simply looked lackluster and not mentally ready to play.   I'm not sure what they have to do to wake up GR3 but he is awful on the road.

in their defense, the schedule has been brutal.  They may be out of gas.

Just need to return the favor come MSU's return visit to AA in March...

2 years 29 weeks ago John Cooper//WoJo article

I live in Columbus area and while some liked John Cooper (BTW, he still lives here and is still involved in OSU functions), the fans and the media really disliked him.   Every year, especially the last few, it was almost a given that no matter how good OSU was, Cooper would find a way to lose the game against M.  As the saying goes," the saddest day in MIchigan FB history is the day Ohio State fired John Cooper."

I commented on the DetNews website about the WoJo article.  I think it is a bunch of crap and is very shallow and short term in its thinking.   While I want M to kick the crap out of Ohio State this weekend, I realize they are heavy underdogs.   But I also look at this team and think it has a great future.   Leave RR alone to do the job he was hired to do.

2 years 32 weeks ago David Molk comments

Wow -- The guy is so impressive.   If they can just bottle his spirit and tie it into every player, this team would be undefeated. Let's hope he can light their fires with a win against Illinois.   And not a shootout but a solid play in all phases of the game.

Thanks for the posting and the video.   Defintiely gives me hope for the Illinois game.

I was also very happy to see RR reading the riot act to the defense the other night.   It was about time as far as I was concerned.   Sure the offense had a few plays they'd like back but they have so much pressure on them to score every time they touch the ball to overcome such a crappy defense.

2 years 36 weeks ago d rob

I truly hope he gets all sorts of records and can stay healthy.  He is so fun to watch and I love his demeanor.

My concern is that he is getting ready to face Mich St, Penn State, Iowa, Wisconsin and O State, all of whom have much better defenses than the 5 teams we have faced so far.   We can only hope he continues to do his magic...

2 years 40 weeks ago JMU win over Va Tech

After two big wins and two not so exciting games coming up, hopefully the coaches can use the JMU upset as a teaching moment.   Denard is so amazing but I also worry about the long term wear and tear on him.   Hopefully UM can blow out the UMass, BG and IU in first half so we can see more of Tate and Devin in the coming weeks in the second halves so they too can get some live game reps.

Nonetheless, I just can't get over Denard.   He is Mr. Cool.   He is so fun to watch.

2 years 40 weeks ago ND analysis

Thanks for the feedback.   Always good to get the feedback.   Never been to ND Stadium.  How much an impact might that be on the game?

2 years 40 weeks ago Tate's dad

I'm just glad his dad is encouraging him to stay.   I'm anxious to see TF play and see what improvements he's made in his game.   There's no doubt about the quantum leap Denard has made in his game.

2 years 40 weeks ago Carvin Johnson

I see he is out 3 - 6 weeks but does he just rest his knee or is there just PT involved to restrenghten the knee?

2 years 40 weeks ago #1

Guess I should prepped my comments a little better.   Got completely torched myself on my comments.   D Rob was spectacular and I hope he can stay healthly all season.   My hope was for us to win the game and get off to a good start.   The team certainly blew that goal away.

JT definitely made at least one play of the game.  My favorite was Denard's fake and 40+ yard pass play to Terrence Robinson.

Guess Im just paranoid.  Maybe I should change my screen name to Paranoid One?  It just seems like Michigan is always losing key players to injuries.

2 years 40 weeks ago Happy camper

Hey, I keep hoping this team overachieves -- the last couple of years suck.. BYM, I was very happy to see the win.

3 years 25 weeks ago Who Replaces Hopson & When?

With the Hopson news a fwe days old now, I was wondering who the replacement might be given GR's history and background. Anyone have any ideas?

3 years 27 weeks ago Brandon Smith

I liked him. did a good job on special teams; What is his reason for leaving?

3 years 28 weeks ago Chip Kelly -- Rich Rod connection

I heard someone (Brent Musberger maybe?) talking about it a fwe weeks ago when the Quacks were playing someone else (SC?) he evidentally learned a lot from RR while he was still HC at New Hampshire.

Living in a burb of Columbus, I cant wait to watch the Rose Bowl. It will be fun to watch all the OSU fans squirm against the Duck Spread. Personally, I am hoping and thinking Michigan's run game will get a whole lot better next year with another offseason of lifting and tutoring under Barwis.

Jut would like to see them get some big name recruits signed.

3 years 28 weeks ago Warren & Smith

Not surprised at all with Warren leaving. As much as I love M, he needs to leave and make his millions. Smith' ACL is a shining example of how fragile one's career can be. I was listening an NFL player on ESPN radio today (didn't catch the name) and he was saying he loved playing in college but by his senior year he was scared to death of an injury that would screw up his NFL career.

I did wonder about Smith. He played pretty darn well against OSU and I recall him getting hit pretty hard and going out of the game. I was thinking he had the wind knocked out of him and would be back but I dont recall him returning. I know he isn't big, but I rally liked him and thought he was awfully tough kid. I just hope he rehabs and comes back as better as ever.

3 years 30 weeks ago Haiku or LImericks aren't me - Need an early Christmas present

It's sad that this all the seniors in this class and a testament to the cupboard not being full (especially on defense. Just wish GERG would have been here with last year's group. I am really going to miss Graham. I would probably say the same this about Minor had he been healthy all season. Both have been fun to watch in spite of the recent meltdown.
I only wish Minor were completely healthy for the OSU game; just seems unfair how his Jr and Sr years have gone. Hoepfully the NFL will be good for him.

I'm praying for an earley Christmas present - a win over OSU sure would take a lot of pain away. Everyone seems to think OSU will roll, but this is the same team that lost to Purdue a month ago. They have a rookie kicker and issues on offense. I can only hope the crowd becomes the 12th man on Saturday and helps guide the Blue to an upset.

Having all those guys from 1969 around before kickoff has got to help as well.

3 years 32 weeks ago Roundtree

If I were RR, he would have been dressed up and down for not hustling to the endzone. I still can't believe he put himself on Cruise Control (75% speed) after catching the ball on the 70+ yard play. If he hustles, no way momentum swings to the Fighting Underachievers from Champaign.

3 years 32 weeks ago Feelings on Purdue

Let's the seniors on this team provide the vocal and mental leadership to pull this team up. It was good to see the Minor is "healthy" and I hope he gets 20 - 25 carries each of the next 3 weeks. I think the bowl game motivation, the seniors wanting to go out on a winning team and hopefully a great home crowd at the Big House help them get the job done. They also may be finding Purdue reeling a bit after they got spanked in Madtown last week. Michigan - 37 Purdue 20

3 years 32 weeks ago Trying to look ahead: was Roundtree "cruising" to the end zone?

It's probably a good thing I couldn't post the past few days. Unlike those who turned to their favorite fermented beverages or worse, I suffered in agony over the loss. It made no sense though. I recall the same Illini team totally destroying M in A2 last year. Plus, Illinois sould be 6-2 and not 2-6. Their fans must be the ones dying right now over what might have been.

I think this team has a chance to win all 3 remaining games IF (and this is a big IF), they hustle and if they stop the turnovers. Everyone makes such a big deal about getting stuffed 4 times inside the 1 (and yes that was huge), but I don't understand why no one has talked about Roundtree getting caught from behind. It seemed to me that Roundtree shifted down a gear while on the way to the end zone. Had he hustled -- no plays would have been run inside the 1. I'm sure the kid from Il is fast, but to close 10 yards?

This team needs to get a sense of urgency -- no panic mind you -- but urgency to get the job done...

Also, with exception of the fumbles, I thought Tate played much better this week. The redzone failures were awful. M should have scored in the 30's easily against that defense.

some questions though?
1. Why not let Kevin Grady run the ball in short yardage situations? he's a senior and seems to want to step up.

2. why did we run up the middle 4 times in a row on first and goal at the 1? Did we ever hear of a QB sneak?

Also, every one is so down on the Michigan defense. Personally, I don't think Michigan's D has been that great in a long time. A good offense can really mask a mediocre defense. Unfortunately, our offense has been sorely lacking the past two years. Get the offense in gear and The defense will be better (not great) because they won't be on the field...

I'm just hopeful we get a win over Purdue this weekend. I think a win will do wonders for the confidence of the team. Of course, I was thinking a 35-27 win over Illinois would do the same thing.

I live on the west side of Columbus and hear all the OSU whining about their offense (which I think is pretty bad). so that's winnable game, especially with it being in A2.
Let's just hope win all 4 games -- last 3 plus the bowl game.

3 years 33 weeks ago PSU game comments

I totally agree with the comment that it needs to be a penalty to block a player into the kick returner on a punt. I really thought it was a penalty. At first, i thought Warren and Hemingway were toast. This alrady has enough defensive holes to fill.

I may get totally bashed on this, but I think DRob needs to sit and watch the remainder of the season, or at least be in for only a very certain set of running plays. As much as people seem to dislike Nick Sheridan, I think he at least knows the offense and could manage a game if needed.

If my memory serves me right, the turning point of this game WAS NOT the safety. It was DRob's stupid read on the inteception. I sat in the endzone behind him on Saturday (Section 12, row 13. I saw the PSU player and wondered how he didn't. Anyway, that was the turning point. The Michigan D actually stopped PSU and JoePa punted. I would have punted there too -- got a great defense and you pin a young offense in the hole. Plus, no one talks about the weather. The weather sucked. That whole series was a disaster waiting to happen.

I thought if they scored 7 instead of 3 right before half, thing may have turned around. But alas, no.

Let's just hope they can pull one out against the Illini. Illinois has to be thinking this is their "get well week".

I almost choked laughing. I always enjoy his smartass comments. this article was great. Tater was right on with his comments.

3 years 35 weeks ago win out?

I agree they have a great shot to win out. Of course, that assumes that they can hold onto the damn FB. I thought the team played a whole lot better than against MSU, with the exception of TF (Tate Forcier or aka as True Freshman). If TF played like he did against ND, MU wins this game. I think he is probably hurting more than is known (why was he shaking his hand after he threw the ball? -- no one hit him on that play?) and I think after he got slobberknocked by a couple of IA guys, he got a little gun shy.

I also don't see anyone complaining about Mike Williams not getting back on the 3rd and 24 TD to Moeaki. That should not have happened. He did not appear to be busting butt to get back into coverage on that play. Excpet for the two plays to the TE, I rally thought the D played well. It was certainly their best game against a worthy opponent.

The home games against PSU and OSU give M a chance to win out. I think the most difficult game is at Wisconsin. Those guys will be angry about losing to M last year (a game they should have won). Of course, if M crowds the line against them like they did Iowa, they have a shot to win there too.

In any event, need a healthy and humble TF as well as DRob. DRob oozes talent but he is a work in progress.

I can see M winning out. I think 4-2 is more likely unfortunately.
