I think there are some pretty strong indicators. Hinton was a pretty baffling departure and I am not sure what Filagia is going to get somewhere else that he wasn’t going to get here next year.  I am leaning toward He Gone.

Hinton leaving is no more inexplicable than DPJ leaving after 3 years; these high-rated guys always expected to play in the league and were going as soon as possible, and Hinton has gotten some positive recent buzz and probably sees himself being a mid-rounder guy regardless.  As for Filiaga, he's a guy who probably wanted a secure starting spot and wasn't assured of one at UM.  That's why the portal exists and why guys leave.

Jim Harbaugh is not going to make some grand gesture about NIL rights by not showing up to a meeting; he doesn't strike me as someone who's into that level of subtlety.  I also think a lot of people have been showing their butts recently with how much they believe the University is doing wrt NIL rights vs. reality.  Yes, the University probably isn't as good at funneling money to players as A&M and Georgia, for example, since those schools have decade+ head start.  But this University LOVES to make money and has some pretty smart people running it, so I'm banking on them figuring out a system that makes everyone happy on that front sooner rather than later.

As for coaching pay, UM have given Harbaugh basically a blank checkbook to get coaches he's wanted over the years; hell, Don Brown was making $1.7M as a DC 2 years ago, which was tops in the conference.  I'm sure UM wouldn't be afraid to pay a bit more if Harbaugh asked.

Harbaugh may well leave UM; that wouldn't be a huge shock.  But he's not going to be petulant on his way out, and all the reports painting him as such are coming from the least reliable sources possible, which is why I don't take what they're saying as particularly rational or relevant.

UM likes the claim it's one of the top universities in the world, yet they seem to be at a total loss and how to structure this NIL to fit Michigan's needs, and they act like they didn't even see this coming. But on the other hand, it took Jim six years to figure out how to hire assistant coaches to make things work, maybe it'll take 6 years for the boosters, alumni, and leadership in the school and athletic department to figure things out. But by then, Michigan will be nothing more than a MAc type School

I have seen ZERO details or analytical breakdown of ANY NIL program, let alone something like a feature table to compare schools. All that's been reported recently was from a comment about A&M - not a research, sourced article.

I don't doubt UM lags and I'm sure the staff and players know more substantial rumors. I also don't doubt it is an issue for Harbaugh who wants to win and act in his players best interests. But everything is speculative and premature.

This. All these fan assumptions about who is doing what—if everyone KNEW what programs were doing then it would not have been a big story a few days ago exactly what TAMU did to get the Nolen and the #1 class. There was speculation—but no clear outline of what was set up. Just shouting NIL into the internet means squat.

Michigan has always lifted its nose up, even when the school imposed its self sanctions they went above and beyond on purpose believing they are that great. Michigan has always had a country club vibe they have never been the leaders and the best when it comes to maximizing things for the student athletes.
