So what are the odds that we're going to be within one score of Nebraska at halftime and up by 30 by the end of the 4th quarter?  Seems to be how we do it.

My first game was a freshman on campus. We played defending national champions Miami and Bernie Kosar. Picked him off 6 times in a 24-12 win. Oh our starting QB was some sophomore starting his first game at UM. Jim somethingorother.  Wonder what became of him.

My 1st game there.  On Michigan replay the next day, Bo said "we always get a good half of football out of Navy."

The halftime band show featured an applause meter formation where the needle swung based on cheering for Jimmy Carter vs Gerald Ford, alums of the two schools running for president.

The election didn't follow the applause meter.

The thing is that you start with a tie; it's zero-zero when you begin. So everyone can have a nervous breakdown right from jump. Then you work outward. You could graph the divergence in scores in different ways, starting with absurd expectations, carried within us--relative talent/skill and--additional variable--execution. But under most circumstances if you're the better squad, the score may--by dint of math and stuff--be closer at halftime than at the end. If you also take into account that any good team adjusts to how the opponent has game-planned after the half, you can probably get to a saner take--there's an arc these things tend to describe. The pot of gold is at the end, not the beginning.

It's as if everyone wants the games to begin 50-0, with Michigan in the lead. Happily, the other team is playing, too. That's why it's a game. In the old days, sometimes, we actually thought it was fun when we got into a bit of a duel with the other squad. If we lost, we just went to the Washtenaw Dairy and had a donut, mowed the lawn.

This is why I stay far the f away from this place and the game threads, especially in the first half. Some poor chode who has his mortgage riding telling us we're all gonna die ten minutes in just isn't much fun.

If I were a betting man I'd bet against Penn State and Ohio State all day long.  Those are some big spreads.  Also the line for MSU intrigues me.  I don't think Rutgers will be as hyped to play that game so I don't feel comfortable betting that one.  I think Texas beats TCU but 7 seems about right for the margin of victory.

The Rutgers-MSU game is kind of an important game for both teams' bowl eligibility as they are both sitting at 4-5 with PSU still left on the schedule for both. I just don't see Rutgers being able to attack MSU's weakness in the secondary and passing defense. Rutgers' defense might be good enough to keep them in the game, but I think MSU is the better team.

If I were a betting man, I'd take that Rutgers line. Not even because I think they'll do better than that. But rather, I would find it hilarious for Sparty to sandwich a win against the frontrunner in the west with a 22 point loss and a failure to best Rutgers.

After watching Illinois against Sparty yesterday I have a much lower opinion of them.  They didn't appear to be all that well coached.  Guys were just doing things.  Just in places for no reason.  All I took from that game is that the B1G West really sucks

I wouldn't be surprised to see Rutgers take down Sparty and Purdue take out Illinois next weekend

I didn't watch a second of that game, but losing to MSU at home like that is real bad. That's a bad MSU team minus 8 more players who are suspended. They feel like one of those teams where a Don Brown defense wouldn't let them cross midfield- Big Ten west team with a good run game and not much passing attack. That's what Brown feasted on.

I wasn't very worried about them before and now I'm really not worried about them coming to Ann Arbor. It'll be something like 35-10
