Michigan Eliminated By Bolden
It looks like Robert Bolden has taken Michigan off of his list of schools he is looking at.
"The 6-foot-4, 195-pound prospect has Penn State, Oregon, Louisville and Michigan State on top of his list. The in-state Wolverines, who already have a commitment from quarterback Devin Gardner (Inkster, Mich.), are not expected to be in the running for Bolden."

It's tough not to have him interested, but he's a solid QB prospect with a lot of offers. Personally I'd rather not see him at MSU or PSU, but you never know.
MSU lock.
Gardner vs Bolden for years to come. Fun stuff.
Since I have a feeling that Gardner will be better and Michigan will restore peace in Michigan by being better, I'm perfectly ok with that. I actually somewhat look forward to seeing this matchup... as long as we win.
Gardner might only start for one year. Same with Bolden. So for one year it might be.
No surprise here. Doubt two top QB prospects from same state would attend Michigan in same year. Would prefer Bolden went to Oregon so we wouldn't have to deal with him, but we'll see. Doubt he would go to PSU since they have Paul Jones locked up.
While it's not surprising he'd eschew Michigan, I want him to stay in the Big 10. Not only would it be great to see Gardner and Bolden duel at QB but we should want Michigan to beat quality teams.
Yeah its odd that he doesn't like UM since you already having a QB committed but still includes PSU even though they also have a QB committed. And PSU is supposed to be his favorite according to some experts.
I would be surprised if he leaves the big ten.
He doesn't want to run the read option for his entire career.
Oh ok, its the system he doesn't want to play in. That makes more sense.
and odd finalist, no?
Question in general about Oregon: Do they just promise truckloads of free Nike gear if you step on campus for a visit? The facilities are apparently Phil Knight-tastic, but I don't get the pull, particularly for kids east of the Rockies.
I have heard nice things about their campus but recruits always comes back to their facilities as a big selling point. I just can't see any midwestern D1 recruit say "I want to be a duck"
Is Michigan gay? I really hope not (see thread title). But seriously, this is not surprising and really is a wise choice on the part of Mr. Bolden. If I were him I would go somewhere that doesn't already have their QB for that class. I guess the PSU thing is weird though. Perhaps he just wants to visit, see ol' Joe.
but maybe Michigan gave off a gay vibe to Bolden. A lot of people use the word gay for everything now (including me) so...
What's gay about "Michigan Eliminated by Bolden?" I don't get it.
Yes, what the hell are you guys talking about?
The former title was "Michigan outed by Bolden" - I though it sounded funny. I decided to poke a little fun, and props to the poster for not getting bent out of shape over it. The poster obviously changed the title.
but it was meant to sound a little funny. I guess Brian or somebody changed it for me, which is cool I guess. So no, I didn't change the title.
Gardner/Tate>Bolden. /thread
I think that he wants to go to a school where he can play in a pro-style offense, and Michigan cannot offer him that. To be perfectly honest, MSU is loaded with three pretty good prospects (Nicol, Cousins and Maxwell), so he probably would have a tough time breaking in there. I would advise him to look hard at Penn State and Oregon, and Joe Pa's team probably would fit him best.
Oregon =/= pro style offense
Exactly -- if he doesn't want to run the read option, Oregon would be a pretty retarded choice. Or maybe he didn't watch them when Dennis Dixon was QB.
And Penn State isn't exactly running a pro-style offense either, in case he hasn't noticed.
From this Sam Webb article, it sounds like he and his family are really considering Oregon, so I won't discount them just yet.

See the last part.
He definitely seems interested in going there. It's just not a pro-style offense, so it's strange.
It's the same reason I was nervous about the Kevin Newsome commitment to Michigan last year. He kept saying in interviews that he wanted to play in a pro-style offense...but then he committed to Michigan. I was like, "Hmmm...something doesn't make sense."
And he decommitted.
There's often a big disconnect between what recruits say and what they do.
This was a forgone conclusion for some time now.
Weren't we out of his top 5 for a while now?
As long as we've got Gardner then Bolden isn't a big deal. I think Gardner is the best QB in the state.
I gave up on Bolden ages ago. Like right around the time Gardner committed.
...on to the next QB recruit. No big deal.
hope he goes to oregon
So far all the teams mentioned in the blog don't really fit what he wants. MSU would be the closest, but as someone mentioned, the have three decent quarterbacks in the fold. If he isn't afraid of competition, he should go there.
Oregon, to me, is a spread offense system and while it's not the sprint option like Michigan has, I believe Bolden doesn't want to be pigeonholed into that role.
I saw him play three times and came away unimpressed with Bolden. I didn't understand why RR offered him this early but I was told that it's just to keep him on the leash because he doesn't want to lose him since he had already offered Gardner. Not a real big loss, folks. There are better QBs out there that could be a better option as a #2 QB in the class.
about Bolden the moment Gardner committed to Michigan.
