Sparty 9.

Sparty Nein!
November 7th, 2021 at 2:20 PM ^
Sparty three...and nein?
...not sure if the statute of limitations on those jokes has expired sorry
November 7th, 2021 at 2:01 PM ^
One spot ahead of Staee. Lol
November 7th, 2021 at 2:05 PM ^
Notre Dame being ranked as high as they are is a joke
November 7th, 2021 at 2:09 PM ^
Let us be honest though - in all the years that it has been around, has the Coaches Poll (or, more precisely, the Sports Information Director Or Duly Authorized Representative Poll) ever been anything but a lot of "WTF"?
November 7th, 2021 at 2:21 PM ^
well maybe but not this week because the coaches have us higher than state but the AP doesn't.
so in the absence of UPI...
November 7th, 2021 at 2:19 PM ^
Why? All these teams that don't have 4 straight years of top 4 recruiting classes are essentially the same.
Outside UGA, BAMA and OSU the talent parity across the next 20 teams is ridiculous.
Any team can be beat on any day. Hell, Sparty beat UM with a bunch of voodoo.
You really think UM is that much better than ND? I don't. We could have lost to Nebraska or Rutgers just as easily as we should have beaten Sharty.
We need to recruit 3-4 top 5 classes in a row, and I promise you all the "Harbaugh is a terrible coach!" goes away, because our margin for error will increase dramatically, and the number of high leverage plays in a game and chance for voodoo losses (or wins) go way down.
IE, every coaching mistake, officiating error, or poor play call won't be scrutinized by the fanbase and media to death because they just won't matter when you're up 28 points.
November 7th, 2021 at 2:55 PM ^
3-4 top 5 classes in a row isn't going to happen under Harbaugh (or likely anyone else) but a bigger problem is keeping them on campus.

Assuming Cincinnati wins out (USF, SMU and East Carolina) I guess they have to position someone else to bump them down to avoid having them in the playoff
November 7th, 2021 at 2:09 PM ^
Anyone else severely struggles with a team they were favored by 4 TDs over and they likely drop. Bama stays put. Just because.
In fact the team they passed did the same fucking thing and....dropped.
November 7th, 2021 at 2:10 PM ^
Who would move ahead of them?
Cincy, who struggled against an even worse opponent?
OSU, who struggled with 3-7 Nebraska?
Oklahoma, who's had half a dozen close calls?
November 7th, 2021 at 2:12 PM ^
Fair enough.
November 7th, 2021 at 2:22 PM ^
Dude, don't buckle!
November 7th, 2021 at 2:22 PM ^
The answer is Cincinnati.
- They don't have a loss; Alabama does.
- They beat (according to this stupid poll) #7 team in the country; Alabama beat the #12 team.
- They each don't have another win over a currently ranked team.
It really doesn't matter, of course, but if you're going to do this stuff, be consistent.
November 7th, 2021 at 2:25 PM ^
But you're arguing something else, that Cincy should have been ahead of them since Bama's loss.
if you believed - going into Saturday - that Bama should be ahead of Cincy, nothing could have happened yesterday to change that view.
November 7th, 2021 at 2:31 PM ^
Cinci is nice story but Vegas would have that line Bama -17 vs. Cinci, minimum.
They needed a goal line stand to beat Tulsa. They've looked pedestrian against teams nowhere near the top 25 in their past 3 games.
We've seen what happens when overrated teams like ND or MSU get into the playoff - 40 point blowouts to the likes of Bama or when Clemson is loaded.
Cinci would be lucky to stay that close to a healthy UGA, Bama or OSU.
November 7th, 2021 at 5:00 PM ^
Cincy is a good looking tranny!
November 7th, 2021 at 2:22 PM ^
LSU has a great D-line as always. Bama O-line is dinged up. Was a brutal matchup. Questioning Bama's ranking after the past decade is a bit of a reach. If any team has earned the benefit of the doubt it's Bama.
November 7th, 2021 at 2:09 PM ^
I don't know how Purdue doesn't get ranked. 3 losses (2 against ranked teams, only bad one was a touchdown to Minn.) and 2 wins against then top 5 opponents.
November 7th, 2021 at 2:12 PM ^
They lost 30-13 to Wisconsin two weeks ago. UW may have picked itself off the mat but that's ugly.
November 7th, 2021 at 2:19 PM ^
Go, Blue.
November 7th, 2021 at 2:19 PM ^
I do find it......interesting......that Auburn lost at A&M and dropped 6 spots. Baylor lost at TCU and dropped 5 spots.
BUt Michigan State get whooped at Purdue and drops *checks notes* 3 spots. They have nothing to complain about, with being behind us. They should have dropped further than they did.
November 7th, 2021 at 2:28 PM ^
Agreed
November 7th, 2021 at 2:21 PM ^
and #9 in the AP. Sparty 8th.
November 7th, 2021 at 2:29 PM ^
Michigan needs to win out. Rankings are good talking points, nothing more
November 7th, 2021 at 2:32 PM ^
Gotta believe the CFP committee is gonna penalize Cincy for that clunker they put up yesterday, even if AP and Coaches didn't. Love to see UM at #5 on Tuesday.
November 7th, 2021 at 2:33 PM ^
purdue should be ranked. they beat what was then the #2 and #3 teams and are 6-3. we were all yelling 'boiler-up!' at the tailgates yesterday. a glorious warm, sunny, fall afternoon/evening.
November 7th, 2021 at 2:51 PM ^
Whatever. Michigan will likely be, at least, #6 in the poll that matters. I expect MSU to be #8.
November 7th, 2021 at 3:17 PM ^
Michigan's going to be ranked #7 (or #8 if they decide to put Oklahoma ahead of them for some reason) in the CFP rankings with MSU at #6 or #7... simply because the CFP committee places a high importance in the head to head win MSU has. So, wherever Michigan is placed, MSU will be one spot ahead of them. MSU needs to lose a 2nd game for MSU to go behind Michigan.
November 7th, 2021 at 2:56 PM ^
ND at 7. SMH.
November 7th, 2021 at 3:51 PM ^
Not sure I agree with ND ahead of us.
November 7th, 2021 at 7:51 PM ^
How did ND jump over Michigan? They both covered the spread against lesser teams at home. WTF?
The coaches poll has always sucked...
