Michigan up to 5 in the Coaches Poll, 4 in the AP

Can we go ahead and make this an all polls/ranking topic? Rather than have six new topics later on.
September 11th, 2016 at 1:37 PM ^
Isn't that usually how it is? This post will get updated later to include the AP poll too.

It seems like there ends up being a coaches poll, AP poll, ESPN power rankings, a CBS one and some other random poll or ranking. The FPI efficiency being separate doesn't bother me since that has some actual information on team performance.

Are we worried the Internet is going to run out of electrons or something? Its not like we're using up precious real estate. Personally I'd prefer separate threads rather than have to comb through a 200+ post thread on both topics. The Coaches' Poll is shit anyway and is of less interest to most fans.

And Scott Frost's mom! Wait, is that not a grudge we've been holding for 20 years?

We're clogging up space here by debating one vs multiple threads. I think we should make a thread to discuss whether polls should each have their own thread or not. What do you guys think? Is a making a separate thread to discuss how many poll threads to make worthwhile?

showing how Scott Frost voted.

I think his mom votes for him.

Frost, unfortunately, doesn't have a vote. (That probably explains the lack of votes for UCF.)
Oddly, Harbaugh doesn't have a vote either, though DJ Durkin does as a rookie coach. Anyone know how they decide who gets a ballot?

Random draw conference by conference, from a pool of coaches willing to participate.

Well, they DID make the playoff last year...or so they claim (I still haven't found any record of them ever having scored points in a playoff game).

You mean barely beating Furman at home.

That will shake itself out this week. ND is favored by 7 against msu this week. While I'm on the topic, Ohio St is a 2.5 pt favorite at Oklahoma. Pre-season this was game that everyone excpected Ohio St to lose. They look pretty good so far and still haven't given up a defensive TD. Both of these games are very interesting and will tell us a lot about all four of these teams.

Ohio State looked terrible in the first half against freaking Tulsa. It was only after a lengthy halftime delayed by thunderstorms that the home team was able to take control. I imagine sitting in a shitty visiting locker room for an hour and a half isn't good for your competitive spirit.
I am not yet convinced that OSU is good yet.

Michigan moves up 1 spot and MSU gains by staying in place having not played. They have put 5 B1G teams in the Top 11. I don't know about that.
Obviously barely getting by its first two opponents has not hurt Clemson. Not that the Tigers were going to outslug the Tigers on the road, but the were pretty well schackeled by Troy.

MSU is going to get wrecked by ND in south bend and the polls will adjust. They're not on ND's level this year.

I agree and am very much looking forward to this.

I really hope not, it would be nice to beat an undefeated MSU on the road...
September 11th, 2016 at 2:23 PM ^
No they can be winless it's okay will feel just as nice

It would be better if they never won another game.
September 11th, 2016 at 3:34 PM ^
I agree that beating an undefeated MSU would be better for our SoS, but more importantly (for me at least) I want our damn all time winning percentage statistic back. Most all time wins is nice, but so much better when it's accompanied by all time best winning percentage.

Clemson has to move down, they haven't been that impressive. They remind me of FSU the year after they won the national title.
September 11th, 2016 at 2:10 PM ^
Making the title game last year and having Deshaun Watson helps. But yeah, they have not looked good at all so far.

So, #4 in the AP . . . is that our highest ranking since the 2006 Game?
