MGoSurvey: Football Head Coach
On the eve of ushering in a new year, I wanted to get the pulse of MGoBoard Users. Below this thread I will post 2 responses. Upvote response 1 if you want Harbaugh as head coach of the team in 2021. Upvote response 2 if you want to see a new head coach for 2021.
I’m requesting 2 different upvotes so we can see a gross total of votes, rather than 1 response utilizing upvotes or downvotes and only showing the net difference.
I hope that everyone reading this has a safe and healthy new year.

Upvote if you want Harbaugh to be the head football coach in 2021.

Still want JH.
December 31st, 2020 at 2:42 PM ^
but, can't follow directions
December 31st, 2020 at 4:34 PM ^
I cannot believe you are really all dumb enough to have voted for JH. They must think because its too late to move on at this point?
December 31st, 2020 at 4:59 PM ^
Matt Campbell reportedly turned Texas down when they put out a feeler. I think that tells you everything you need to know.
December 31st, 2020 at 5:40 PM ^
Matt Campbell would be in completely new territory coaching Texas, it's not that shocking that he wouldn't want that job. Not many midwest guys have ever gone down south and had success, the only one I can really even think of is Urban.
December 31st, 2020 at 5:32 PM ^
Because of the solid recruiting class, probably. And because it's Jim vs Unknown. If the choice was something like "Jim Harbaugh or Matt Campbell" then it might be different
As it stands the choice is "confidence in Harbaugh to fix the roster/coordinators" vs "confidence in Warde/U-M to choose, hire, and support the right new coach"

Upvote if you want a new head football coach in 2021.
December 31st, 2020 at 4:31 PM ^
Why don't you poll 11 warriors or the RCMB, 100% of their votes will be for Harbaugh.
December 31st, 2020 at 6:12 PM ^
This is 100% truth. Out of all potential head coaches Harbaugh is the absolute least feared among their fan base.
December 31st, 2020 at 8:49 PM ^
Anecdotally, I know a few die hard OSU fans and that can't fathom how JH would be extended. Dont get me wrong, they are happy he's staying but they are shocked the school and fan base is okay with his results (or okay enough to justify an extension). I think it speaks to the cultural differences in the two programs more than anything.
December 31st, 2020 at 11:27 AM ^
Methinks you will be downvoted and it won't have anything to do with who this board wants coaching the team.
December 31st, 2020 at 11:28 AM ^
I agree. I am very curious though where the boards head is at on this matter.
December 31st, 2020 at 2:55 PM ^
Would have been interesting if you had done this same thing the week after the PSU game and were able to compare results then to now. It seems like the passage of time has caused more people to move to the "give him more time" camp than have moved to the "fire him" camp, but that's just a feeling. I suspect this has been Warde's strategy all along - let the emotions of the season subside and let the fan base get distracted by the holidays before making anything official with Harbaugh's contract extension. I think this is causing the "delay"; it's not because Harbaugh is waiting on NFL offers or they are still negotiating contract terms.
December 31st, 2020 at 3:50 PM ^
Also, I kinda wonder if Harbaugh is working behind the scenes overhauling the staff and everything will be announced in a rather condensed manner. Thus alleviating the backlash from a faction of people demanding a new head coach with some applaudable staff hires.
December 31st, 2020 at 6:00 PM ^
Ain’t nothing changed but the weather since that day. I wanted him to stay before this season but now realize a change is probably best for both parties.
December 31st, 2020 at 11:33 AM ^
Methinks it will be far to easy for people to monkey the results for it to have any validity.
December 31st, 2020 at 11:34 AM ^
As I type this I see the want a new coach has dropped from 3 to 2.
December 31st, 2020 at 11:35 AM ^
It’s already happened. New coach votes were at 5 and 2 minutes later are at 2.
Mods: are you able to see the breakout of upvotes and downvotes on individual posts?
December 31st, 2020 at 1:35 PM ^
Agreed this is easy to manipulate as not only does it give a person a vote, but the ability to take away someone else's vote. Better to have a net result or create a poll on a website outside the board.

December 31st, 2020 at 11:52 AM ^
Hmmm... veggie green chili.
But in all honesty, I’ll take Harbaugh on the world’s shortest leash for 2021. Hope he finds that spark this off season.
Happy NYE all!
December 31st, 2020 at 7:33 PM ^
Why do you want a coach back on such a short leash the pitch forks and hot seat talks will be out in full force the first ugly game we have in 2021? We hit rock bottom in year 6. Why would anyone predict a magical turn around in year 7?
Are you afraid osu will embarrass us annually and msu will win half their games against us if we replace Harbaugh cause.....

Pulled Pork Nachos!
December 31st, 2020 at 12:12 PM ^
Fuck yeah! Nachos!
December 31st, 2020 at 2:03 PM ^
I learned a couple days ago that nachos are, in fact, named after a person whose nickname was "Nacho" (short for Ignacio).
Similar to how another enterprising Mexican came up with his namesake Caesar salad.
The more you know.

Downvote....but I do find the silence about a new contract for Harbaugh to be a bit surprising if an agreement had been reached. Ditto for no replacement for Brown. This Sunday, the season will be over for a bunch of NFL teams.
December 31st, 2020 at 12:13 PM ^
The silence means nothing has changed and Harbaugh is still the J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Football Coach.
December 31st, 2020 at 1:09 PM ^
If it were true because he and Warde both want him here, then they would have announced it. If you mean "Nothiing has changed..." because he hasn't found something better YET, alot has actually changed, because he doesn't really want to be here under the new offer.
So, my guess is, you are wrong and the truth is coming shortly that he is leaving and Campbell, Hafley or a coach to be named later is coming in.
December 31st, 2020 at 12:24 PM ^
If there’s not an agreement by now the only logical conclusion is that he’s looking at NFL jobs. The NFL season ends this weekend so this should be when a majority of positions open up.
December 31st, 2020 at 1:19 PM ^
Not only has the university not announced a replacement for Brown, it hasn't even announced that he is leaving. The media reports were all attributed to unnamed "sources."
December 31st, 2020 at 3:59 PM ^
Now hold up, Maize 'n' Brew said Brown has already landed with Fisch in Arizona. It HAS to be true, it's on the interwebs. I swear ta God, state law. *Donnie Baker voice*

Gotta say -- at this point? I just want A decision to be made, and ASAP.
I really don't like Jimmy using UM as his "fallback" option if his NFL feelers don't pan out, and I don't understand why Warde is seemingly okay with this.
December 31st, 2020 at 12:10 PM ^
Seemingly you’d have to have proof of this hence you’re just full of it!
December 31st, 2020 at 12:47 PM ^
Easy for you to say as NOBODY has any proof to back up anything with the status of Jim Harbaugh. No local or national pundit out there has a clue to what's going on about Michigan FB all this week and if so, that info would be out there.
December 31st, 2020 at 2:25 PM ^
If pinkfloyd is going to make an outrageous and baseless claim it use to be and still should be called out and pinkfloyd should be required to have some evidence or proof. Yet here you are implying the other side has a requirement for proof. Absolutely not! Only the conspiracy theorist needs proof. And I was hoping the stupidity and illogical bs of the last four years would be behind us soon.
December 31st, 2020 at 4:02 PM ^
Speculating that Harbaugh wants to see what opportunities exist in the NFL is hardly some crazy conspiracy theory. Suggesting that Harbaugh is definitely coming back or that he is definitely leaving are equally speculative.
The facts that we have are:
1. Harbaugh’s contract ends after next season.
2. No new contract has been signed.
Multiple meeting outlets have reported (from un-named sources) that Harbaugh has in fact been offered a contract with a lower salary but more money for assistants. If it is indeed true that he has been offered a contract and he hasn’t agreed to it, speculating that he us not entirely happy with the offer and may be considering other potential options is pretty reasonable.
I’d actually argue that speculation that he is definitely coming back needs more support because it is missing an explanation for why a contract hasn’t been signed.
January 4th, 2021 at 1:27 AM ^
The BS without proof is this: “I really don't like Jimmy using UM as his "fallback" option if his NFL feelers don't pan out, and I don't understand why Warde is seemingly okay with this. “
Also Harbaugh said during the season he is staying. No one with credibility said he is going or considering going. And saying he’s using UM as a fallback is baseless conspiracy.
December 31st, 2020 at 3:59 PM ^
I think Warde is in a pretty tough spot due to Harbaugh's buyout clause. He doesn't really have much recourse to Harbaugh waiting it out without firing him and eating the $10M they would have to pay him. After a massive revenue loss this year, I'm assuming no one really wants to do that.
It does seem to me like Harbaugh is exploiting his situation at Michigan to see if he can tender a better offer from the NFL, which would tell us he doesn't really want the Michigan job for anything other than the money.
If he did, he would have accepted Warde's offer already. If that's the case, I'd rather just see him go.

You all can pontificate over this ad infinitum but I could honestly care less over something that I have no control over.
Instead, it's New Years Eve and I am cooking up some ribs (get the Stubbs ready!) and opening a fine bottle of Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon in hopes that it will usher in a fine year ahead - not only for M but for all of you as well. Cheers!
