META: MGoBlog Podcast keeps restarting when listening on iPhone

I just subscribe on iTunes. You get it a day later, but you don't have to deal with that annoyance.

Are you using the Podcasts App? I get the same thing when it's downloaded via my subscription.

I'm having the same problems. I'm usually near a computer, so it's not that big of a deal for me, but it'd be nice to get it fixed, so I can listen to it when on roadtrips, etc.

I have gotten similar complaints and am not sure what to do about it. If anyone has any suggestions... the issue seems strictly with iPhones and that's a weird thing.

I guess we could start by finding out what version of iPhone everyone has and what app they're using.
I'm on an iPhone 5 with the latest version of iOS using the Apple "Podcasts" app to subscribe and listen to it.

Same thing. iPhone 5 v6.0.1. Happened the first few weeks of the season, so I just gave up after that.

I have the same issue on my iPad.

having the same issues all year. Try each week to no avail.

Yeah, I've had no problems when using Downcast, which is absolutely worth the two bucks if you even ocassionally use podcasts.

I've had the restart problem with Downcast, but ONLY if I try to stream the podcast rather than download it first. Once it's downloaded in its entirety, it works fine. I'm not sure how the official Apple podcasts app works, but perhaps it's a streaming issue?
(Also, I heartily recommend Downcast. It is a great, great app.)

of iOS so I am not sure that is the problem.

Maybe that is nature's way of telling you that iPhone's are not perfect.

Easiest way is to subscribe on iTunes and sync the podcast to your phone. I don't know why it happens but its a pretty quick and simple solution.

I have an iPhone 4s and I get a message when I use the Podcast app that says, "Unable to download podcast." I have to download it on my desktop and then connect my iPhone to get it on my phone. Works fine from there.

That is what I do... it downloads on iTunes and then I sync my phone. But then when I try to listen to it on the phone it does not work.

happens to me as well. i have an iphone 5 and i cant listen to it on my phone.
same thing happens for the wtka app, too. additionally, anyone able to stream wtka online? they just changed their website and i cant get any of the podcasts...
November 28th, 2012 at 11:21 AM ^
I use the iHeartRadio app, which works great to listen to WTKA live or any number of other stations on my iPhone 5.

I use the RSS Radio app (free) and the podcast works fine on an iPhone 4S. No problems with any Mgopodcasts or WTKA.
OT comment on the podcast itself: Brian is amazingly calm and un-emo despite the insanely frustrating performance last Saturday. Maniacal laughing and exclaims of "AAARGH BIG TEEEEEEEEEN" are notably absent.

the new podcast app that apple released that is now separate from "music" is pretty flaky. i am not able to download directly to my phone from either wifi or cell service. my best luck has been to download it from the itunes subscription and then sync to iphone. sounds like the apple people are working on a fix to the podcast app, since some people are pretty unhappy about it.

I hated the app when it first came out, but they recently had an update to the app and I've been incredibly happy with it. Have you updated the podcast app? If it still doesn't work, then there might be a bigger issue. Only podcast I've had trouble with is the Mgoblog podcast downloading.
November 28th, 2012 at 12:04 PM ^
there are other podcasts?

Ditto, but iPhone 4s
November 28th, 2012 at 12:56 PM ^
got the same issue with both the ipad 3 and the iphone 5.
here's my workaround:
1) use the Filer app to get the file from the direct download link
2) use Filer to move the file to your listening app of choice

I have the iPhone 4s, with the most up-to-date iOS at all times, and for the past year, I have never been able to download the mgopodcast over the air or via my wireless network. I've used the old iTunes app and the new Podcast app, and hasn't worked in either place. This is the only podcast I've ever had this problem with, and it's consistent and frustrating.
