Message for Brian

Submitted by SpreadGuru on

Step up...are you Blue or not?  I don't think going on WTKA and being a naysayer is the way to go.  How will Brady Hoke turn out?  None of us know.  But speak of Hope, not the negative.

We'll see. I'm not too worried. He tore me up several weeks ago and I bear no grudge. He shouldnt just because I'm telling him he has poopey pants on the Hoke hire.

Disappointed the podcasts went by the wayside, but MGoPaul moved to Chica-go-go and we lost our In to set these up at our convenience.

I am hopeful we bring them back. My off season goal is to cajole Brian into doing these again. People like them. A lot. I got feedback most of the season from people wondering where the podcasts were.

But, its not just me. I want Brian to do the podcasts for the blog. Forget me as a guest. How about TomVH, Mathlete, Magnus, Dylan....I could go on and on. I think the community would totally dig hearing those guys on a podcast......I'd even offer to let Tim and I host it and he doesnt have to do a thing.

So, that's going to be my offseason pitch the fearless leader.

I wasn't really that serious. I just find it funny that even his confidantes are even telling him he's wrong, but he's got his arms crossed and lower lip up and is digging in his heels. I know you're too laid back to be really broken up about it either way, though they are enjoyable. (Though I think we're missing a great story on how he tore you up a few weeks ago).

It was right here on the blog. I got on TomVH's case for some of his tweets during the Wisco game, especially getting on Gallon's case while he was hurt.

Brian let me have it, for letting TomVH have it.

I dont think anybody involved really cared a day later. We all overreacted. On the Internet. Who knew you could overreact on the intertubes?

went from a community for discussion and discourse to a place where negative opinions are criticized. I fully support Brian and his right to say what he feels.

Were you here when anyone who dared criticize RR was shouted down and negbombed?  I remember people being told that criticizing RR was akin to not being "all in."  I also remember people rightly saying "recruits read this stuff, so show support."  Well, if that is true, where is the excitement and support now?

Getting on the radio and acting like a whiny baby about Hoke - spreading more negativity - is NOT going to help Hoke fill out this recruiting class.

Come on, Brian.

I will agree with you, and I think that Brian needs to show support. But by coming on here and tearing Brian and Hoke up, it is not solving anything. I'm not attacking you I am just saying that we all need to get behind Hoke and the program.

I agree that BC needs to give it a rest, but I wouldn't worry too much about Hoke not getting the support he needs to succeed.  I'd say it's pretty clear there will be no shortage of support from media and former players for Hoke.

It isn't about the right to opinion discussion, it's about being consistent.  If you attacked any question of RR with insults and "not a fan!!!", then why is it ok to question Hoke?  If you feel RR was "never given a chance from day 1", why would someone (brian and co.) feel it ok to deny Hoke that same chance?

But, for all those who did welcome debate with regard to RR, then I don't really see a problem in voicing a dissenting opinion.  Soon enough, Hoke will have on-the-field results to judge and my fingers are crossed for a slate of Ws

"Well, if that is true, where is the excitement and support now? "

I guess the same place it was then.  You have two sides, the before whiney bitchy side and the now whiney bitchy side.  There is little difference outside of the rational they use, facts as backed up by numbers vs. nebulous "feelings" backed up by player intros on MNF...

Everyone needs to quit bitching at each other and go back to discussing UM football as they see fit.

It's alright to be a little unhappy about the hire, but not supporting Hoke fully is REALLY going to turn us into Notre Dame.  Hoke is our coach.  It's not like bitching on the radio or on a message board is going to make Brandon suddenly realize he should have gotten Paterson.  It's over.  If you are a true fan, then support your coach and support your football team.

that mgoblog is a place to tell OPs that "your idea has already been posted."

Seriously though, we've heard Brian's comments many times and we know that he doen't like the hire.  But it's getting old and he's starting to sound like a spoiled child that didn't get his way.  It's time to move forward and support the coach.  Especially when you're on the Ticket, where most of them despise Michigan anyway.

Agreed.  All Brian has done throughout the existence of this blog is to give us all information, smart analysis, and then a logical opinion based on that information and analysis.  And I for one appreciate that consistency and inteligence.  People who criticize Brian for this probably never went to Michigan.

People are saying that they don't want to leave the site, because they enjoy it. But if this is going to be the "new site", tell us up front, and then maybe a lot of people will leave. That is Brian's choice, a business decision. But as the "customer" we're trying to let him know how we feel BEFORE anyone feels they have to leave.

Like the avatar, too.

MGoBlog has become the preeminent Michigan blog, even a preeminent CFB blog.  With that comes some responsibility, and yes some burden.

If he wants it to be "It's my blog I'll act anyway I want, go fuck yourself, i'm too cool for you anyway", then that's his decision.  If he wants it to remain the preeminent Michigan blog, then that's his choice too.

At this point however, MGoBlog has progressed too far for him to have it both ways.

Once again, it's his decision.  I just wish he'd let us know what his choice is, in case we need to go shopping for a site that does not become just some guy's personal rant.

He is giving his analysis (backed up with cherry-picked facts and personal prejudice).

Fixed it.  Brian's entitled to his opinion, all right, but he can never again rant at the media for "lazy analysis" after the way he's viewed the Hoke hire.  His "Hoke clearly hates the spread" rant a few days ago was Bleacher Report-esque.   The fact that Hoke ran a spread offense at Ball State conveniently never made it into the article.

It is now officially the MGoBored.  everyone feels the need to toss their opinion out there even if it is identical to the last post/thread because they have nothing better to do.

If you have something new and interesting to say, great.  If not, STFU.

why this thread even had to be created is beyond me.  The original thread is only four below it on the list.  No need to have another thread on the same damn thing.

But it goes to show you the power that the alumni (especially the player alumni) has in a program.  If there was a significant fraction badmouthing the guy, then maybe he should go for the good of the program.  We probably don't want to say F-you to the folks who made the program what it is.

I agree that things like having the banner depict Brady Hoke and doom are in poor taste, don't show any support, and is a little irrational.

But the situation now versus when Rodriguez was here is completely different.  Since day one the media depicted RichRod as the devil incarnate and Brian was rightfully trying to bring us back to reality instead of bashing RichRod because it was the thing to do.  This was an outsider coming into Michigan and he needed all the support he could get in order to succeed.

With Hoke, the media is already painting him as the darling of Ann Arbor and gushing about the hire.  Brian, again is trying to bring some perspective to it and remind us that just because he's a Michigan Man it does seem we are just trying to go back to exactly what we were trying to get away from at the end of the Carr era.

I agree that maybe he's been a little irrationally too negative, though.  I support Hoke and think he will do well, but I fully understand Brian's concern that we are going to go back to being a perpetual 9-3 team that never quite breaks through.

The "national" coaching search was a farce, Hoke was chosen because of where he coached more than how he coached, who he knew more than what he knew, the media is swooning over Hoke like schoolgirls, we're back to the waggle being our trick play, if we were going to do this anyway why not do it in November?  etc. etc. etc.

But there is a constructive way to express all of that.  And I don't automatically think that people who disagree with me are sell-outs.

You may not like the pilot of the plane you are about to fly on and you may wonder how he even got the job, but once the door is closed and the thing takes off, you've got to root for the guy to suceed.

Its an open forum. Everyone, including Brian, has the right to give their opinion. Telling people that they need to agree with Brian or that they can't criticize Brian is a joke. If people didn't offer countering viewpoints, then everyone would just agree with each other all the time. Is that what anyone wants?

"It's my website and I'll do with it as I please.  If you don't like it, then GTFO."

At least we'll know what we are getting and where we stand.

I hope it's not coming to that.

Get the fuck up?

Also, while it is his website, it's also his career.  His current career direction is not a particularly wise one, purely in my opinion.
