Hope he signed before this game.

Mel Tucker is so overpaid!
How overpaid is he?
So overpaid that he will saddle the MSU AD with crippling debt for years.
November 21st, 2021 at 7:04 AM ^
They smell like roses, too.
November 20th, 2021 at 8:41 PM ^
MSU related: has anyone noticed how the Detroit News beat writer / MSU grad / egregious homer takes it personally when his team loses.
He's not a journalist, he's an arm of the MSU PR department.
[EDIT: To be fair, Matt Stan-boneu isn't quite as bad in his video recap of the MSU ass-whuppin'. But I attribute that to a stan being stunned. But compare his display of personal grief in the video after their earlier loss, not to mention his almost giddy exultation when "his" team wins.]
November 20th, 2021 at 9:28 PM ^
News flash- this happens across the country in all factions of civilization.
November 20th, 2021 at 9:35 PM ^
Our media are not that homerrific, by and large. There is a noticeable difference in the way the UM writers cover us vs. how the MSU contingent covers them.
November 20th, 2021 at 10:01 PM ^
Though I have no doubt it's bad in the SEC, and the Big Ten probably has some homers, the MSU contingent is the worst I've ever seen.
They seem not even able to try to do anything but suck up to MSU coaches, and split the world into a fanboy's dichotomy, their team versus evil or hapless foes.
Maybe just call them Fanboy Couch and Matt Stanboneau.
November 21st, 2021 at 9:50 AM ^
Spartan fans would disagree. They constantly whine about the “Blue Wall” bias in metro Detroit journalism.
November 20th, 2021 at 9:33 PM ^
Matt Charbeneau? He is pretty biased but not as bad as some I've seen like Graham Couch.
November 20th, 2021 at 9:57 PM ^
You may be right that Couch is worse but the last two MSU losses, Charboneu gave up all claim to journalism. After the Purdue loss, he was almost crying. (I exaggerate but not by much.)
November 21st, 2021 at 9:27 AM ^
Graham Couch is burning?
November 20th, 2021 at 10:34 PM ^
My hat is off to you sir. Not surprising it is going unnoticed LOL.
November 20th, 2021 at 8:41 PM ^
My favorite tweet of the game said "Mel Tucker seen leaving the field to log into Docusign".
November 20th, 2021 at 8:48 PM ^
I’d refrain from any jokes pending the results of The Game next week, personally.
November 20th, 2021 at 9:01 PM ^
Gotta live in the moment
November 20th, 2021 at 9:18 PM ^
You have got to be kidding?
With all the shat they throw on Jim Harbaugh and the U of M?
November 20th, 2021 at 11:32 PM ^
Not to mention that in today's game, Tucker and staff did both of these things:
- managed to make the nation's 130th ranked pass defense look even worse than that (a bad FCS pass defense?)
- the even bigger offense, IMO, is that even before the game got out of hand, they never bothered to try to get Walker going
And they want to pay him $10M a year til the sun dies? Sounds good to me. They'll be spending about $1.5M per win, I'm guessing.
November 20th, 2021 at 9:26 PM ^
I guarantee it won’t be 49-0 at Halftime.
November 20th, 2021 at 9:38 PM ^
52-0?
November 20th, 2021 at 9:48 PM ^
The outcome of our game next week has no bearing on the fact MSU overpayed for Mel Tucker.
November 20th, 2021 at 11:32 PM ^
@tsunami
Stay strong Sparty apologist nut hugger.
November 21st, 2021 at 12:29 AM ^
Nah man, the time to laugh is right now!
November 20th, 2021 at 9:50 PM ^
I'd pay me.
I'd pay me so much.
November 21st, 2021 at 8:55 AM ^
This would make a great Game Day sign! And I logged in just for the up vote.

Mels A. Tucker
November 20th, 2021 at 8:51 PM ^
RELENTLESS. ???
November 20th, 2021 at 8:53 PM ^
Ohio State was favored by 19.5 over a Top 10 team. They covered that in the 1st quarter. They covered that in the 2nd quarter, too.
Two weeks ago, MSU was ranked ahead of OSU.
November 20th, 2021 at 9:06 PM ^
And Iowa was #2 at some point this season.
When things don't pass the eye test, and are obviously flukish and rely on low probability events...eventually they revert to the mean.
Sparty is a 7-5 level team that should have 2-3 more losses already.
The committee and anybody that watched the UM-MSU game (besides East Lansing couch burners and Mel's buddy David Pollack) knew that Sparty's victory over UM was a 1 in 10 event, and "HEAD TO HEAD!" is not the only or often best way to assess the overall quality of a team.
November 20th, 2021 at 9:09 PM ^
MSU is going 9-4 this year. Although they get favorable bowl matchups because they are not a ratings draw so maybe they win their bowl.
Their schedule screams 6 losses next year.
Sometimes all that dough gets heavy to carry.
November 20th, 2021 at 9:31 PM ^
Pinstripe Bowl in Yankees Stadium. Beat up Va Tech.
November 20th, 2021 at 9:32 PM ^
Maybe one of those 6 losses will be to Michigan.
November 21st, 2021 at 10:51 AM ^
It better be.
November 20th, 2021 at 9:16 PM ^
Gary Barta did everything he could to avoid saying "Sparty's a fraud. They are lucky to be ranked at all."
November 20th, 2021 at 9:28 PM ^
The low-key DISRESPEKT shown by the playoff committee towards MSU was breathtaking. I would have understood if they went by head-to-head record. But they knew.
November 21st, 2021 at 6:11 AM ^
You know Pollack is butt hurt today as his boy Kenneth Walker's Heisman hopes went up in flames.
November 20th, 2021 at 8:53 PM ^
Mel Tucker is honestly a really stupid sounding name.
November 20th, 2021 at 8:55 PM ^
They are you we thought they were.
Frauds that beat us with absurd low probability plays and every call from the officials and replay booth including an overturned TD.
We were 2 scores better than that team on the road.

Funny thing is, today wasn't even Mel Tucker's worst first half. His 2014 Bears defense, in consecutive games, with a bye week in between to "fix" stuff, gave up 80 combined first half points.
November 20th, 2021 at 9:06 PM ^
Mel Tucker tells Charlie Weis to hold his beer.
November 21st, 2021 at 11:40 AM ^
Charlie Weis is kinda a hero to me. He managed to bilk ND out of a lot of money, lose a ton of games, and crater their program for a good long while. I wish I could do that to ND too.
Also, like, he made a LOT of money for a long time. It gives me hope, because...I could be that bad at coaching football. Easily. I could easily manage to lose that many games. Think I could be paid that much to NOT coach football??
November 20th, 2021 at 9:07 PM ^
But for total fluke plays, they should have 2-3 more losses this season, and even that is vastly better than consensus expected record.
Given all that, he's still Sparty's best option, even at $9.5 million/year, because consider their options if he leaves.
November 20th, 2021 at 9:18 PM ^
That's debatable. He's 16-14 as a coach. They could probably get results like that for a lot cheaper.
November 20th, 2021 at 11:44 PM ^
Luke Fickell makes like 3M a year . . . Hell, even Kirby Smart at georgia makes 7M, John Harbaugh getting 9M/yr on a four year contract to coach the NFL ravens. Like, for the contract they offered they can literally get any coach who isn't absolutely in love with their current job, it's ridiculous.
November 21st, 2021 at 12:33 AM ^
I read on a thread on MGoBlog that because the great Mel Tucker had beaten Michigan twice (with a little luck/ref and review help...he's actually a coaching genius and well deserving of 9.5 million per year).
Not the same guy who got run out of Chicago for being a terrible defensive coordinator...nor the same guy who skipped on Colorado after a crap record. He's a coaching savant. Pay this man.
Don't question this Sparty genius either.
November 21st, 2021 at 1:25 AM ^
I don't know about that. If you have a 10-year - $95 million contract sitting on the table, I have to believe you should be able to get quite a few top coaches to take an interview.
November 20th, 2021 at 9:11 PM ^
Spartans did not beat us. Those loser couch burners were bailed out by the Refs. They are inferior and always will be.
November 20th, 2021 at 9:45 PM ^
I do appreciate an arrogant Michigan fan, and it usually doesn't take long to find one. See you next week?
November 20th, 2021 at 10:08 PM ^
Fuck off. ☺️
