Is it really that hard to see the ball not moving when it is about four feet from you? Obvious offside is obvious on Texas Tech.
Also, Minnesota just negated all positive yardage back to the Illinois game with this 3rd and 49 play. Passing down, right?

Does anyone honestly get worried when Jerry gets so pissed? I'd rather not see him have a seizure again.

Supposedly, according to a few sites, at the collegiate level, the longest ever converted was 3rd and 77 back in the 1930s in a game between Navy and Arkansas. As for the pros, I don't remember how long ago, but I think the Broncos once converted on 3rd and almost 40.

Minnesota is beating themselves.

Wasn't that a horrible call on Minny though? I was away and came back, and I don't have the volume on so I may have missed something, but the replay looked like offsetting extracurriculars.

The punt was the cherry on the top of that series
December 28th, 2012 at 10:27 PM ^
It's bad when your punt doesn't pass the 1st down marker. Of course, in this situation you'd need Will H. to boom one to get it there.

Current Drive
Drive Summary: 10 plays, -14 yards
Must be another record. Poor Jerry.
December 28th, 2012 at 10:34 PM ^
But, what's his record when he's down by 3 at half in a high-scoring game? Methinks a lot of that record is when he was down my multiple touchdowns. Not really on point tonight regardless of what happens in the last minute. Dumb.

December 28th, 2012 at 10:42 PM ^
Apologies if this is too political, but of the 11 airports where TSA confiscated the most guns trying to go through security (I imagine all of them were of the "I forgot it was on me" variety), 5 of them are in Texas. Atlanta had the most fwiw.

A kick return TD, brutal penalty call, and a 4th and 6 have TT up by 7, but the Gophers look to be a match for them so far.

Two fullbacks and a running back. Jerry Kill knows a little something about MANBALL.

Minnesota's scripts/fonts bother me. Their take on the "M" always makes me think of Mad Magazine and the jersey numbers are all kinds of jacked up.
And I'm still not sure their uniforms will look worse than Michigan's on Tuesday.
But they look like a decent team so far in the second half...GO, GOOPHERS (as long as it's not hockey)!
December 28th, 2012 at 11:30 PM ^
Personally, I think it's funny that we've laid such a firm claim on the block M that Minnesota won't dare use it.

This game is a lot closer than I think many thought would be! I'm not sure what the line is but in the Yahoo Bowl Pick 'Em I'm in more than 90% of people thought Tech would win. So much for the wisdom of crowds if they can pull this out!

Why do teams try over and over to run between the tackles at the goal line? I get dominating people but the edge is sometimes very open and teams don't really seem too interested in running the outside zone...Just wondering?
December 29th, 2012 at 12:06 AM ^
Outside run plays take longer to develop. You need to be able to hold your blocks for a longer amount of time than you do for a run right up the gut, and that can be tough against a goal line D.
