Meaningful college football is back

Submitted by Blue from Ohio on

It's not Michigan football yet, but let's rejoice that meaningful college football is back with Cal and Hawaii playing tonight!  It's basically the official start to my wife being a widow for the next 6 months.

Two take aways I found interesting:
The good news for Hawaii is the 2016 Rainbow Warrior defense figures to have a much different look than the 2015 version. Newly hired defensive coordinator, Kevin Lempa, should implement a 4-3 defense and breath new life into a unit that was dead last in the Mountain West. Lempa, once upon a time Hawaii’s defensive coordinator under June Jones, returns to the Rainbow Warriors after spending the last three years at Boston College.
Lempa is in his 43rd year as a coach and has already served as a defensive coordinator at multiple schools.
I had no idea Hawaii's defensive coordinator worked for Don Brown at BC. http://www.californiagoldenblogs.com/2016/8/25/12636946/cal-vs-hawaii-p…

Nice catch.

I hadn't realized it either.  Brings a little bit of family to the matchup.  (And I like that Harbaugh & the coaches will have a week to look at film.)

Boston College secondary coach Kevin Lempa is the new defensive coordinator for Hawaiicoach Nick Rolovich...

I love my wife to pieces, but if there's one change I'd like to make with her it would be to turn her into a football fanatic. Man it would be awesome to not hear a complaint when football is on the television. At least she respects my passion for Michigan football even if she doesn't understand it. Although there was the one time where she forced me to go to Victoria Secret with her in the middle of a Michigan State game. That was a big fight. BIG fight. First year of marriage if I remember correctly. Learning experience is what I'd call that one.

but my significant other accidentally put our 2003 Civic keys into our 2004 Odyssey's ignition. Tomorrow night and Saturday morning I'll be learning how to replace an ignition in my kid hauler via YouTube.

It is the best! You can wake up at 5am watch the pre-gameday show, then at 6 gameday does 3 hours of pregame and wala - Michigan or another B1G gaame is on. No wait. Literally get up early because you can't sleep due to anticcipation and there is Football to watch. #westcoastrules Jb

Hawaii will take awhile but that head coach was putting up 35+ per game last time he coached the rainbow warriors. Also Sunny Dykes will keep Cals offense high powered. If Texas Techs old starter is on the bench then they must have a competent QB. Take the over at 64.5!!!!

Batting practice- as in they are going to knock us down the rankings list!!! I MEAN COME ON PEOPLE! not to jinx it, but hardbaugh is basically drounding this team with hype this year, tis only a matter of time before we get whats coming to us. DARN! I wish we could just have a normal season, but we got ourselves a goofball for a coach! Lets see how this one pans out.....

Id be surprised if the game isn't decided by the end of the first half. Cal lost their whole team when Goff went pro, but they are significantly better than Hawaii and I don't expect tonight to be very close.

RIP Hawaii. It only gets worse for you next week.

and when there's a wedding on a fall Saturday, it's foreshadowing that it's not gonna last.  The poor henpecked SOB will one day wise up, find his nuts, and boot her to the curb.  Save your relationship...JUST SAY 'NFW' WHEN SHE SUGGESTS IT.
