McNamara going into Surgery

Submitted by WoodleyIsBeast on November 9th, 2022 at 11:37 AM

Cade just posted a thumbs up in what appears to be preparation for surgery.

Seems obvious that his season is over, and perhaps his Michigan career. No matter what...Michigan legend!!

yup, a legend - he was as responsible as anyone for last season.  productive on the field, and a leader off the field.  he kept that team together after a really grim 2020.

And *during* a really grim 2020.  If we lose that Rutgers game -- it was 17-0 Rutgers when Milton was pulled, before Cade threw 4 TDs -- I wonder how much more people lose their minds and demand Harbaugh's firing.

Edit: LOL sorry I should have scrolled a bit more.  Exact same (but more detailed) comment a little further down

Dude deserves to be remembered forever for piloting a team that turned the tide in our school's history. A true winner, even if his talent was eclipsed by others.

It should go down in Michigan lore that Captain Cade is the biggest reason Michigan did not fall into college football abyss.

For those who may forgot, here is his stat line against Rutgers in 2020:

27/36 260yds and 4 TDs in two and a half quarters (Milton started)

Cade came in when we were 1-3 and down 17-0 to RUTGERS in the 2nd quarter.  BPONE was in NOVA STAR HOT RAGE......

Cade led the team back and saved Michigan football that season and then came back the next year a delivered a championship...

Thank you Cade, you will always be in Michigan football lore...

I hope that Cade's fondness and appreciation for Michigan, the team and the university, is as great as many of the fans who have supported both him and the team.

Last year wouldn't have been a success without him.  He'll always be welcome at our tailgate - and, I hope he returns in the future.

Wishing him a complete and quick recovery.  Go Blue!

(And, now the discussion of "who is the #2 behind JJ" will begin in earnest.)

Good luck and God speed Captain Cade.  You are a great leader, champ, and captain.  Many here including me will alway appreciate your accomplishments and leadership for the Michigan football program and leading  the 2021 Big 10 Champion Michigan Wolverines.  We will always be pulling for you.

Yeah, you’re right - if you travel with the team you take up a roster spot. My comment was aimed at a consistent group of posters who point out his absence at every away game as some kind of proof that he’s ‘checked out’ or isn’t interested in being part of the program anymore or some such nonsense

The guy who led the team that changed the course of UM QB recent history. I noticed a subtle change in how the commentators talk about Michigan now. Even with OSU being a "juggernaut" so they say... a Charmin Juggernaut, I say, but... nobody says "when osu beats michigan".. all i hear is... 'the winner of...".

For the past 15 years, it was a joke.. we were a joke. They clowned us and they could. because we did nothing to reverse it. Not only did we win last year, we beat them into submission.

They may or may not beat us this year, but nobody is going into it with confidence that its a foregone conclusion. That is because of Cade + Hutch + Haskins + Harbaugh.

If true, best of luck in surgery and rehab to Cade, so that he can return to the football field better than ever!

I would love to see him back in the Winged Helmet, but even if it's elsewhere I'll always be rooting for him.

Best #12 in Michigan football history (admittedly, the competition is not stiff) even if he never plays here again. He deserved so much better than the crap he had to go through this year. Not so much being passed by JJ, but getting repeatedly clobbered until he was knocked out for the season.

Right, Ricky Powers and Roy Roundtree are the only 12s that come to mind and what Cade accomplished last year is greater than either of those did in their careers.

I should say that my jersey numerology memory doesn't go further back then early 70s Bo-era. Seth has a vastly more comprehensive list and I don't recall who his 12 is.

I gotta stick up for Ricky. As a true freshman, he set the RB rushing record and carried the team to a win at OSU in 1990. They don't beat OSU and claim a share of the conference title without him that day. He led the team in rushing the next year and won three straight conference titles. I think recency bias and sharing the backfield with Wheatley has made people undervalue his place in team history.

Love Cade and what he did here, but have to disagree. Elvis Grbac wore 12 as a freshman (thanks Bentley Library!), so I'd give that nod to him. And there's been some other pretty good #12s as well (not that I'd necessarily place them all above Cade, but as information), including Devin Gardner, Roy Roundtree, Ricky Powers, JT Floyd, Chris Evans, Josh Ross, etc...
